random thought #2

Let's say I adopted a kid from another country and and raised them up in that country.

Would their mother tongue be my native language or the language of the country they were born in?

EDIT: forgot to clarify that the kid knows both languages

I have no idea .. But I always thought that the language that they used the most should be considered as the mother tongue ?

lol hopefully I'm reading this right.... if u raised your child in the country you adopted them from, their mother tongue would be the language from the country they were born in. lol sounds a little redundant xD

their mother tongue being your native language would only make sense if you raised them in your home country or you didn't bother to learn and speak the language your child's from
