A woman never raises her head

or her voice

because that’s what a woman is.

She stands below others

and does work for others because that

is what a lady is.

The girl grew up like that, her mother

telling her that her voice needs to be quiet

To not be heard above the rest.

She wanted to look up at the stars

to run without being afraid

to catch without having to stay calm.

She wanted to be catching her dreams.

She grew up, not listening to her mother and grandmother

She saw the women that broke barriers, that stepped out to show

that a girl is not just a random face.

That a man cannot govern a women’s life

And that ever person, girl to woman

should always keep their voice up

and to follow the stars.

I just thought i should put this up for all the girls that feel this way~
