style and appearance — Byeol stands at 169 cm, weight 49kg with her signature medium-length bob hair and pale skin. She's the typical pretty girl that you'll see modelling for online clothing lines. One of her charm ( appearance wise ) would be the corner of which curls upward slightly. Byeol might look all girly girl but she's actually quite boyish and her style sometimes represents that. Oversized and baggy shirts is what she usually wears on daily basis; jeans, shorts and sweatpants are her friends but skirts and sundresses are not. She chooses comfort instead, which can results in her looking like a hobo, but a cute hobo.

Sneakers and boots are her obsession, alongside some flats but never really platform feels and wedges. Her brother once , "So how's the air up here? Since you're wearing that heels, it's better than the one that you usually breathe in isn't it." After that she just kicked her brother's shin and never really wear heels again.

♡ Intergrity - All three Ryu siblings have been taught by their parents to sow strong moral principles and core values in themselves, and conduct their lifes with those as the guide to lead in becoming someone with strong morale. Because of the strong intergrity in her, Byeol main her adherence whether or not people are watching.

♡ Loyalty - She is very much faithful to her loved ones, family, friends and anyone she have trusted relationship with. You can always count on her whenever you're in need of anything, in both the goods and the bad. 

♡ Responsibility - Byeol take responsibility seriously in almost everything she does, no matter if it regards to her studies, work or etc. She sees herself as the bigger figure towards the younger ones in the group, and because of this thinking she have, Byeol would take the blame on everything that happened no matter if she's involve directly or indirectly.

♡ Forgiveness - Prof Kim always told her to never hold a person because of the mistakes they did, she was teached to forgive and forget for all the wrongs that someone might did to her. All small mistakes must never be taken serious, and for the bigger ones she was teached that each person must have their reasons to justify their actions toward her. 

♡ Compassion - She have a deep sympathetic and pity towards others' suffering and misfortune, and since she was younger the Ryu family would volunteer with those people at homeless shelter and all. Everytime school holiday kicks in, Sul and Byeol would go to the shelters near the neighbourhood and helped the workers there without wanting any rewards be given to them. 

♡ Optimism - Byeol always have a postive mental attitude when interpreting life, people, events, and situations. Thanks to the forgiving nature that's sow into her, she sees the world in a promising light where even when darkness strikes Byeol believes that there's always a light at the end that's waiting to shine everything back to life.

♡ Conscientiousness & Self-disciplined - Byeol's conscientiousness shows when she starts doing something after she sets her mind into it completely, she is through, careful, efficient and organized in her efforts based on what is right. ♡ Shyness - She has always been the more shy and timid one compared to two of her brothers, her shyness gets worts as she grows older, especially during high school Byeol would shy away when it comes to talking in a crowd or even being in a crowd. Because of her inter-person (Stella), all those shyness somehow dissappears as she truly love performing but once it ends she will become back to Byeol, the girl who is uncomfortable and stutters alot when talking in a group of people that have their eyes on her.

♡ Aloof - Due to her shy nature, Byeol can be seen cool and distant by people who doesn't know her well. The resting face that she wears at times doesn't do her any justice and this made people judges her then marks her as an arrogant, y and self-centered girl where in reality she is not.

♡ Belligent - For the ones that do knows her well, Byeol have the habit of being belligent, where she can be aggresive and confrontational at times when she gets angry. Sul would describe her as a 'ticking time bomb that explodes worst than a nuclear' because when she do gets angry, Byeol hits people, especially punching someone when she can't contain it ; she also results in punching objects near her when she tries to calm herself down.

♡ Work-obsession / Workaholic - Byeol is an absolute perfectionist and if she already have her mindset fixed, she would be super obsessive on her work. There was an incident when she almost fainted at school because she decided to sacrifice her sleep  for 2 days just for a mere mid-term exam at the end of the week, this is because she takes pride on her works. However when it comes to love, she is far from it. To be exact, she acts passive at times where she just act nonchanlantly about it. There are times when Wonho used to get frustrated because of the inconsistent matter.

She would criticize herself when she can't get anything right or when she can't get her work to be what she envisioned how it suppose to be, now this habit of hers also contributes to her work obsession. background — 

Just 15 minutes after the clock striked 12.00 past new years eve, a beautiful baby girl named Ryu Byeol was safely delivered. She was born in a family of 5, a loving parents and two older brothers. Ryu Bong Su is a lawyer at one of the most famous firm in Seoul where Kim Min Jung is chaebol daughter who became a professor majoring in Brain & Cognitive Science at Seoul National University. People would have thought that the Ryu siblings would group up with golden sparking spoon in thir mouth, well that is true but in Ryu household you must work for it before earning. Professor Kim is the one responsible disciplining her three kids and made them into what they are now, even with her busy career. When Byeol was 5, they moved from Gangnam-gu to Newcastle, United Kingdom due to Mr Ryu's work. They might move to an English speaking country, but Professor Kim's rule says that once you step into the house, you will speak nothing but your mother tongue. Growing up as the only daughter of the family, Byeol's mom was more strict on her then the others. She nurtured Byeol into a lady, but that pretty much goes to waste since she hang mostly with her brothers. Boy sports like basketball, football and video games are what Byeol more into, but that still doesn't break Prof Kim's spirit. At young age, Byeol was already sent to music lessons where she learnt how to play piano along with singing or ballet & contemporary lessons. On weekdays you'll see Byeol at music academy playing 'Moonlight Sonata', then on the weekend you'll catch her running around with her brothers playing football. 

Byeol used to homeschool by private tutor until the age of 9, when she told her mom that she wants to go to normal public school just like her brothers. Least to say, she was shocked by the surrounding but still love it. She never really had a big group of friends, she only keep close to certain people even when in high school. Byeol is a teacher's pet that's for sure, with her excellent results and good-manners. Byeol used to be made fun of because of her super close relationship with her neighbour, Nana. She was called names, both of them was by some kids that doesn't understand how their relationship.

As boyish as Byeol can be, she always have a keen when it comes to music all thanks to her mother. Singing has always been a favorite past-time of hers, and it is a way of her releasing her stress and express herself through it ; she can always count on Disney songs at times in need. Chul and Sul are pretty much the ones responsible for exposing her to R&B and Hiphop when she's younger, she used to ask Chul about what are they (artist) saying and how are they able to talk/sing so fast. Sometimes she would hear Sul himself rap when they're in the car or alone in the house, Byeol would mimic her brother for fun at first but after a while it became a habit of hers that's hard to shrug off.

When Byeol reached the age of 15, the Ryu family moved back to Gangnam so it is easier for them to visit their grandparents. At first Byeol and Sul wanted to go to public high school but Prof Kim have other plans for the two so both of them are enrolled to a private high school. On their first day, Byeol pretty much cling herself to her brothers side since she feels that the guys there are quite different from the ones in UK. They were openly admiring Byeol and she was scared less, so Sul become the knight in armor on that day. She can't stay by his side all the time since he's in another year than her, so instead she got close to the girls in her class. The girls kinda protect her from the boys and Byeol changed day by day into a more girlish girl but still maintain some of the boyish trait, all thanks to the girls that she befriended with.

One of the girl asked her to join their dance group after finding out that Byeol had taken lessons in contemporary dancing since she's 6, however the type of dancing they're doing are hiphop and dance-pop so you can see her skepticism there about joining. After being pursuade by the girls with aegyo, she ended up being part of the crew and guess what she actually fall in love with it. Not only Byeol added 2 different genres into her dance 'resume', she started to discover more about rap after her and Sul with some of their friends secretly went to this 'club' where underground rappers gather to compete among each other. At first she was there just to show support for their mutual friends, where Sul was there to keep an eye on his sister but at the same time enjoying himself. Byeol was amazed on how proficient and skillful the contestants are and how totally different it is from Disney songs lol. 

Their friend ended up being the winner of the battle, and after that night Byeol asked for a favor from him asking if he could teach her how to rap. He was more than happy to, the first thing he asked her to do was to try and rap along a song just to see if she have the skills that he can help in developing. Well thanks to her habit in mimicking Sul with his rap before, she can spit some fast rhymes hallelujah Sul. He teaches her everything he knows and even set her up with other rappers (his friends), both male & female to help.

Day by day her skills would improve, from technique wise till her writing skills. Even when she's younger, Byeol always write random things about pretty much anything. It obviously came in handy (and also her Geordie accent) when she pursues passion in rap instead, although the ryhmes and stuffs were off but she's better now. Byeol is really thankful to that friend of hers for being a good teacher and help her into the girl who spits fire when on stage. 

Byeol was more active in curricular in Korea compare to when she's in Manchester, she joined the school's club where students with passion/talent on singing, dancing & rapping get together. Few months later when her friend posted a video of their group dancing and Byeol's life change forever. They were contacted by Starship's representatives and was asked if they wanted to have an audition, they were given parent's permission paper since they're still minors ( Byeol was still 15 at the time ). Byeol's skeptic about it while her friends were happy, so she asked her family about it beforehand. Chul and Sul were all supportive even Mr Ryu himself gave the greenlight, but Prof Kim was quite didn't quite gave her the green or red light. 

Few days pass without her mom saying anything about it, till Byeol was about to tell her friends that she's not going to the audition th next morning. The next morning when Sul and Chul were having breakfast with their father, Prof Kim came and gave Byeol the paper with her signature on it. Surprised and widen eyes, she looks at her mom and the paper back and forth which her mom just coolly look at her and nod. Byeol hugged her mom in happiness and thank her, Prof Kim made Byeol promise that even with her debuting or something she'll never forget her education. 

About a week after, Byeol and her friends went to the audition at Starship but unfortunately only Byeol passed all of the stages. She was sad of course that her friends are not with her but they didn't mind, infact they were happy that Byeol was chosen because they know of her potentials. The judges were impressed by her rapping (❦ ; ❦) and dancing (❦) skills, saying that the way she carried herself and the self-written rap was on point ; not to mention her soft and slight airy voice when she sings.

Since then, for almost 5 ( from 2012 ) years Ryu Byeol become a trainee at Starship Entertainment. A year and 3 months later (after being accepted as a trainee), Byeol became part of the underground scene ( joining the same crew her friend that teached her how to rap ) and performe under the name 'Stel'. It was hard for sure, with all the monthly evaluation and assignments not to mention school she struggled at first on juggling and balancing it at once. The first 6 months were the worst, time was never on Byeol's side. Everyday she repeated the same vicious cycle, school in the morning and training till midnight then study for revision in early peak. But gradually she got used to it, and somehow able to balance her school and trainee life. Everyday she practiced on her rap and vocal a bit to improve it, also with her dancing skills. The teachers / instructors pushed and pushed Byeol to her limits, but she never give up. She keeps on going till all her hard work paid off, when she and few other trainees called for a meeting where it was set that they might be put in a group and debut together.

❥ Byeol and her father might not be the closest like other father and daughter but she often goes to him for advices and calmness. Mr Ryu is generally a calm and intellectual person, his words are calming but at the same time it will struck to you like a knife. He is usually busy when Byeol was younger, it is often that he will travel around solving cases for his clients but when she's older he took less cases so that he'll have more time to rest and be around his family.

❥ Byeol's mom is pretty much the pillar in the family. When her father is busy with his works, her mom is always there to take care of them. She is very disciplined when it comes to educate them, she is the Iron Lady and all her words shall be obey. But she is also warm and gentle, undearneath the firece facade there lies a loving mother that Byeol loves. Byeol looks up to her mother and she respects her, she always keep in mind that when she have her own kids one day she'll be like her.

❥ Chul is like the younger ones second 'father', when both of the parents too busy with work Sul and Byeol can lean on him. He take good care of his younger siblings and sometimes spoils them as he is much older than the two. About a year after Byeol officially become a trainee, Chul enrolled himself into the military services and now after years pass he's the higher ranking officers, as Major General.

 

♡ Ryu Byeong Sul (22) | Second brother | 10/10

❥ Sul is the total opposite of Byeol, people would think that he'll be training as a trainee instead of her. He is just that perfect guy with the looks, brain and manners. They're very close till when one of them got stomach flu, both with get sick at the same time. These two tells each other on secrets that no one knows and keep it to themselves. Currently Sul continued his studies at Seoul National University majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

❥ The two met about a year ( mid 2013 ) after Byeol starts her training. She hears about rumors about Jooheon being this next 'Zico' and his rapping skills and being the BBC she is, Byeol was wondering if he is really as good as the rumor. There's also malicious rumors that she heard about Jooheon by jealous trainees, and one day she was able to finally see the person himself in action during another monthly evaluation. She saw first hand how good he was as a rapper and amazed by the talent he has. Somehow luck decide to be on her side, the instructor asked her to pair up with him for another evaluation (again) in two weeks time. 
Byeol thought he was a cold and stuck up man at first since he don't really interact with her but after few hours he started to open up to her and by the end of the day Byeol was attacked with countless aegyo attack by Jooheon. She found out that none of the rumors are true and they pretty much become inseperatable since that day. He would cheer her up with his deathly aegyo when she down, and she would just hit him at the back and told him to it up. But of course she would still comfort him at the same time, she's not that evil. (kinda).
Jooheon and Byeol are like each other's hypeman/woman, a total two peas in a pod. The two loves going to the underground scene just to chill and hang, sometimes they would even perform on stage. When one of them do, you bet the others will be the one cheering the loudest to embarrass the other just cause they're that extra type of best friends.

❥ Nana and Byeol met back when she still lives in Newcastle, Nana was her next door neighbour. The two of them are very close despite the two years age difference as Nana would treat her like a little sister that she never had. She is the same age as Sul therefore it is natural that the three of them would play together. Nana is always there for Byeol, she is who Byeol would go to for any school work as she is one of their school's smartest girl. When Byeol moved back to Seoul, both girls were sad but Nana promised that she would come to visit her after high school. 
Nana is a person that knows how to stand up to herself and never afraid to tell what's exactly on her mind to people. She is brave and Byeol trully look up to her as a role model, where conviniently Nana works as a model now in Japan and Europe. She once openly told Byeol that she is different from other people, her uality. When Byeol was 18, Nana confessed that she likes her, not only as a sister and friend but also as a woman. However Nana never pushed her into forming a romantic relationship.

♡ Shin Hoseok (24) | Ex-boyfriend ( April of 2015 - December of 2016 ) & close friend | 9/10
❥ Hoseok and Byeol met through Jooheon, who acted like the matchmaker for these two. They've been friends even before Monsta X was formed (around No Mercy era), and from day one of them meeting they knew that they're attracted to each other. Both were too proud shy to openly admit that they have feelings for one another, but from the way they flirted the out of each other even a blind man can see it clearly. 
After a couple of months of flirting back and forth, Hoseok and Byeol became official. No one knows about their relationship except for the official members of Monsta X, Wonho's mom and her family, they had to keep it a secret from everyone else because Hoseok had finally debuted as an idol. Despite the lack of dates or even communication (via phone), they tried their best to make it everything work and it did honestly. 
Even after a year (2016), the two of them are still high with their honeymoon phase. Unfortunately, everything good eventually must come to an end, just like how theirs did ; it is undeniable that they still love each other but no longer as lovers as time has passed. WonByeol ended on a good term honestly, there's no bad blood what-so-ever between them, it was never because of third person or anything. 'We just fall out of love,' is what they would say when the other members asked the reason of the separation.

♡ Monsta X (25 - 21) | Friends | 8/10
❥ There's only few words needed to describe them, 'A bunch of mess'. Byeol are friends with all of them after Jooheon joined No Mercy, and ever since that night at the restaurant she couldn't shake these guys off her back. There's Shownu, whom is the ultimate father figure which Byeol can always count on to help her out then there's Kihyun, the sassy hamster that always seem to argue with Byeol pretty much about everything, especially when it comes to cooking. Minhyuk, the sunshine and rowdy kid with the in-famous meme model, Chae Hyungwon. Last but not the least, Im Changkyun who is the exact epitome of the word 'evil lil '.
But despite all those countless near deaf experience (blame Minhyuk for always shouting) and face-palming moments, Byeol won't trade each and everyone of them for anything in this whole world, okay maybe just Kihyun but meh.

relationship  —

how they met-

It marked two months (early 2017) of the day Wonho and Byeol broke up and conviniently Jooheon who had a two-days off suggested for a 'Besties Day Out' his words, not hers. The two of them did whatever they could for the whole day, and after coming back from the zoo and aquarium they stopped by their usual restaurant to have some dinner.
 

J: 'So where are we going next?'

B: 'Home, I'm tired af. I feel like I can hibernate till next two years,'

J: 'I'll just act like I didn't hear what you just said, so to the 'cave' we go.'

B: 'I am seriously tired right now, and you're saying we're going to watch bunch of people hyping each other up till there's no tomorrow? Look, as tempting the 'cave' sounds right now, I just wanna go to sleep.'

J: ' it up ahjumma, you're 21 not 71. Even they're more active than you, stop being such a sloath B. We're going and that is it, no argument.'

B: 'Urgh fine, but you're paying for the taxi ride tonight.'

 

After dinner, the two best friends took a taxi to the place and arrived about 15 minutes later. The place was packed as usual but somehow the line to enter is longer than usual. Since the two of them are regulars there, and the bouncers there pretty much knows Jooheon and Byeol so they had the previlage to skip the long que and enter right away. The atmosphere of the place that night were somehow different, as if they're extra hype and there's so many girls around which is a bit unusual. Most of them look dressed to impress, Byeol look around the club to see what's the occasion after they sit at their regular seats and Jooheon went to get some drink for them.

 

Right on cue, the sounds of screaming girls were heard and Byeol saw a male figure making his way to the stage. She was not sure of who the person was as his face is unclear to her, blame her bad eyesight so she got up from the seat to go nearer just so that she can see who it was. She was able to recognize who that was, since Jooheon told her before about his songs. She admits that he's good, but Byeol never takes it seriously (turn into his fan or anything) ; she was about to turn around to get back to their seat but can't due to the crowed that already formed behind her. It would seem rude if she walk pass everyone now.

 

So she decided to stay there and enjoy the performance, which didn't fail her at all. Right after Dean's performance ended, the ringtone that she set for him rang and quickly answers it. What Byeol didn't realized is that the music was in the range of Dean's hearing and boy was he shocked to hear such an old jam. He turned his head up to already seeing her retreating figure, walking away from the crowd in front of him. 

 

J: "Okay where on earth are you? Are you sleeping in the bathroom again?"

B: "Excuse you Lee Jooheon, that was a one-time occurance okay, and fyi for the hundreth time I fall asleep by accident, and not on purpose. I'm on my way back to the seat now, so bye."

 

For the rest of the night, the two best friends enjoy themselves with their signature non-alcoholic beverage while not realizing a set of eyes that have been watching the two from afar for a while now. As you may guess it, yes it was Dean who have been watching the two, well more like Byeol to be honest. After his performance ended, Dean went back to his friends - Crush and Zico to have a nice drink when he spotted the girl from earlier ( he remembers how Byeol looks only from her back turned from him, once he finally saw her face Dean was a goner ).

 

Z: "Who are you looking at?"

D: "Huh? Oh, there's just this one girl earlier. It's nothing actually, (lies lol)" 

Z: "Where?"

*Dean openly points at Jooheon and Byeol's direction*

Z: "Isn't that Lee Jooheon?"

D: "How do you know him?"

Z: "I don't, not personally. But he did SMTM 4 before, an idol rapper. I guess the girl beside him caught your eyes then,"

D: "Well she's pretty, but I'm sure he's her boyfriend."

Z: "Nah, I don't think so. They don't look like a couple, more like best friends."

J: "B, go get us some more drinks please. I need to go to the washroom,"

B: "Okay,"

 

Byeol left the seat and went to the bar area to get them two new bottles of their drink. After getting and paying for the drink, she didn't realize Dean who was behind her abit too close tbh and accidentally spill the drinks as she turns around, it mostly spilled on him but it gets to her shirt also. 

 

B: "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. , I didn't realized. I'm so sorry,"

D: "It's okay, it was my fault too. Are you okay?"

B: "I'm fine, let me pay for the dry cleaning. It's the least that I can do after spilling drinks on you, there's one near this place."

D: "It's not a big deal actually, it will dries out."

B: "No, I insist. It would honestly bother me if you end up walking around with wet clothes."

 

The two of them went to the laundry place and had to wait around 20 minutes for Dean's shirt to dry. Luckily it was non-alcoholic drinks so there's no odor on it, both of them sat at the bench in awkward silence as only the sound of the machine lingers around them. Byeol quickly send Jooheon a text, telling him her current whereabout and the reason to it. Dean can't stand the awkward silence anymore and decided to introduce himself to her, which she replies about knowing who he is. She was distant at first, replying him with only one or two words because she was too shy to talk more. They were practically strangers, Byeol can't understand on how he could be so open and talkative right now. 

 

D: "So how old are you?"
B: "I'm 21,"

D: "I'm 24, what do you do currently? I mean still studying or working?"

B: "Full time student at SNU, also a trainee at Starship for the past 5 years."

D: "What are you training for? Idol?"

B: "Yeah, I guess you can say that."

D: "What are your speacilize in?"

B: "Rap and dance, I think. My vocal is above average I guess,"

D: "That's cool, so what are you taking at SNU?"

 

They talk and talk, and gradually Byeol gets more comfortable to talk which lowkey makes Dean happy cause the girl that caught his attention is opening up to him. Both are already exchanging jokes by the time the machine stops operating. She gets up to take the clothes out and handed them to him, at the moment Jooheon texted her back saying he almost arrive at the laundry place and it's time for them to head home.

D: "Wait, if it's okay with you can I get your number? I mean I would love to hang out with you if you're free of course. Like only if you're up for it- okay, I'm starting to ramble."

 

Byeol chuckles at his cute rambling and pulls out a pen that she always keep in her bag, she took his hand and starts writing down the digits at his palm. She smiles at his puzzled face and bit her good bye as she hears that Jooheon ringtone, which indicates he is outside waiting.

 

how they are now (two months after)-

Ever since that day, Dean and Byeol get into contact when he texted her right after she arrive at her rented place. They have been texting all the time, and have even went to several dates. Most of their dates happened around 11 or 12 am because that the only time where Dean is not oblige to hide his face. Jooheon knows about Dean from the start (Byeol told him everything while on their way back) and was more than happy seeing his best friend already moving on, even Wonho himself knows and he's happy for her too. Both of them have met each other's friends, and both sides clearly happy for them. 

They haven't made their relationship official, probably because Dean is nervous and at the end of his wits thinking how he could make it special for her. His friends (Zico & Crush) have thrown in some ideas but most of it sounds absolutely ridiculous and stupid making him question his sanity for being friends with these people at the first place.

It was funny seeing other people in the studio dumbfounded hearing two Geordie accents talking.
