"Things That Are Left Behind"

Seunghoon checks his watch. 12:30AM. Usually he doesn’t have to wait at all, he takes another sip of his coke. Alcohol isn’t his thing but he doesn’t mind knocking back a few glasses if it’s with him. He’s not coming though, and Seunghoon really needs to get used to it. He’s never coming again but Seunghoon can’t help but to find himself sitting at the same bar in Seoul they always made time to visit when everything was going to hell. Because at least then they could tackle hell together. It’s not so bad when you’ve got someone making you laugh, someone with that twinkle in their eyes that gives you a purpose in life, a reason to push through every single hardship you face. But that someone is gone now and it leaves Seunghoon feeling heavier than he’s ever felt. He brings his glass back to his lips, finding nothing besides lonely ice cubes in it. Seunghoon glances over to the side, the image of a laughing Taehyun fading in front him, the stool to his right as empty as ever. Never has he felt like something so big was missing in his life. He shifts, pulling out the wrinkled piece of paper out of his pocket. The words “I’m sorry” are written at the top. He places it on the countertop and smooths it out, taking a deep breath and getting up from his seat. Nam Taehyun will never see his letter, Nam Taehyun is never returning to his side and Nam Taehyun will never shoulder the worries of the world with him again. He should move on, Taehyun’s not here anymore, after all. Seunghoon hopes this is the last time he will tell himself he’s going to move on as he steps  out into the melancholy night air.
