1. How did you come up with your user name and what does it mean?

My primary avatar in most of my online games has been Amalya and I figured I'd stick with that since I'm comfortable with the name and I like it. It's a decent fantasy representation of me in my opinion. haha

2. Which is your most subscribed to story?

Through the Ages

3. Why did you pick your user photo/thumbnail?

I tend to change if frequently but I have picked my latest ones in the hopes that the absolutely beautiful posters will help to inspire me to write on them. I curse my lack of time though... T_T

4. Who is your AFF bestie?

Hard to say. I've got a handful of really good friends who I am quite grateful for though. <3

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Other than my own (ugh, that sounds bad...)? I don't tend to reread stories due to limited time and a fairly good memory for what happened in ones I have read. If I was going to reread something, it would likely be by authors like Tigress or faithful-lie or starlit skies because they write genres, groups, and stories I tend to enjoy.  ^_^

6. How many stories are you subscribed to?

545 - I'm a bit picky and don't go tag diving very often. XD I often find stories by recommendations or from contests I'm in. haha

7. What AU do you find yourself writing about most?

Fantasy of course! The best genre ever!!! ;) For me anyway.  *flails*

8. How many friends do you have?

303

9. Is there something you'd like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

Nah.  If I write it, they'll read it or they won't.  If I try something truly 'judgeworthy'(?), maybe people will respond and I can engage in conversation!

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at on aff? Writing, graphic design (posters), replying to comments, updating regularly, etc..?

Updating lately... Replying to comments and messages too, but seriously. Updating. *looks around desperately for time*

11. How many subscribers do you have?

5,779

12. How many stories have you posted online to this day (finished and unfinished)?

Hmm. Between ten and twenty on other sites and then 97 here.

13. How many stories do you have saved in your writing program?

Ugh... I haven't looked in quite a while, but likely between 150 and 200 (not including old poems)

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

Both. I often write ideas down for later but also try to store them in my head in the vague hope that I'll remember it later or intentionally leave it there so that it will peacefully go away/merge into other thoughts and leave me be from additional prompt ideas. XD

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Yep. It's not my strong point but it can be enjoyable. haha

16. How did you discover AFF?

A friend of mine was writing and posting stories here and she let me and the other roomie in on the secret. We enjoyed it so much, we both joined in on the fun.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author on AFF?

Eh... not really. I wouldn't mind but me thinks I'm mostly only known in my friend circle. haha

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

My readers? lol

19. Was there an AFF author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

Well, Jiayun would be the one that got me started on this whole trek so I guess she was the initial source of inspiration, but after that, the stories just kind of wrote themselves. Come on now. Our biases do more than enough to draw the next plot out... XD

20. How many karma points do you have?

Eh... around 5400? Not much by all accounts.

21. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

Write what you want to write and write for you. Don't wait for others to approve or not because this should be something you do because you like it. Having fans is a perk and it certainly helps the writing process sometimes, but be alright with what you're doing and why you're doing it. The rest usually just goes from there

22. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Both. I have a rough idea of what I want to happen in each story but they are usually the big marker points. Everything else I take more of a free reign approach to so that I never feel constrained by what I've set out. It does mean I have to take more notes as I go and that I'm constantly looking back at where I've come from to make sure I have no glaring plot holes, but it's very flexible and doable for my style.

23. Have you ever gotten a bad review or comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

You know, I can't really say I have. I've had reviews I didn't entirely agree with but they weren't bad. Likewise for comments, and after having a conversation, most misunderstandings have been resolved with relative ease. Regardless, if a comment or review isn't glowing, I can usually learn something more from it. haha I love positive feedback. Don't get me wrong. But I also adore getting challenging info to make me think and respond in different ways. I feel it helps me grow as a writer. ^_^

24. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, , etc..)

Specifically... anything to do with high school. It feels like it's been forever since I was there and I have such a hard time relating anymore. Nor do I actively want to write high school scenes, which makes it all the more difficult. Outside of that, I'd almost settle for anything right now. >.>

25. What story(s) are you working on now?

Last time I counted, I had somewhere around 13 unfinished stories, which is way too many.  T_T  I wanted to have at least 3 done by this May but that isn't going to happen. *quietly curses being a reading and writing teacher* lol

26. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

Yep. And that's a source of neverending enjoyment/grief since it's a distraction from the ongoing one.  lol

27. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

Not really. I've dabbled with them in the past but have never really stuck to it outside of the NaNo goals for November. >.>

28. Do you think you've improved as a writer since you first started?

Most definitely! I look back at my older works and frown sometimes, but then I smile because I can see just how far I have come and it's a bittersweet feeling. haha

29. What is your favorite story that you've written?

Full length story: Daehyun: Valkyr of the Gods or Don't Let Go  One-Shot: Stalked by Shadows

30. What is your least favorite story that you've written?

*sighs* Probably Can I Help You, Dear? (closely followed by Can I Help You, Sir?). I wasn't really feeling the sequel in the first place and while the first one isn't exactly poor writing, it was more of an exploratory piece. I went for the in it and I have found that isn't something I particularly 'love' writing. It's not bad every now and then, but it's not particularly my thing either. haha

31. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Probably a hobbyist, though I'd love to have something published by then. Which reminds me... I need to see about submitted Don't Let Go again.  Hmm...

32. How many upvotes do you have?

1,002

33. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Daydreaming and plotting and imagining particular scenes and how things will go. It's so easy to build entire worlds and landscapes in my head, filled with characters and magical beasts and all sorts of magic.

34. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Actually doing it some days. lol Beyond that, I'd say getting the characters to cooperate or finding a better way to work with them. I like when they do their own thing, but sometimes, my approach doesn't always work for them...

35. Why do you write?

Because I enjoy it and building the worlds and interacting with the characters I get to work with. It's a very fulfilling activity, especially when you get to the end. <3

This was really interesting and shed a new light, for me, on the writing process, at least for you. I have never had much discipline to manage to write anything to publish here on AFF or anywhere else, so I admire those who do. The comments, from the other authors, below, have also been enlightening. Thanks to all of you for writing. Please keep up the good work.

Ohhhh interesting ~

You know, I reread my own stuff a lot too, it's not weird at all. Sometimes it's nice to reminisce or just to see how far you've come :3

But ohmygosh thank you!!! I'm so happy to hear you wouls even consider looking back at my stuff, that you think any of it is good enough for that *.*

Oh man where to start. So yes, your struggles sound so familiar! The way that a story plays out in my head is like watching a movie (plus it helps that I often dream them) but when it comes to actually writing it down???? Gosh. I feel ya.
I do like the stories you pointed out and I am incredibly intrigued to know how publishing goes - I have my fingers crossed for you!
Not gonna lie. The writing advice for new authors can be for old authors too. It can be so disheartening to not receive anything for what you've worked on and yet, remembering that this is for you and because you want to is what is important. So thanks for the reminder. ♡

I really liked your anwers! It sounds like we ALL need to update more often and find time to write. I think it's been really rough for many people recently, but I'm personally going to try to dedicate some time to it again. It helps you keep your writing flow in motion. Good luck!
