Some Zico Song Recomendations

For anyone that's interested in getting into Zico's music or wants to listen to more songs by him, I got a bunch of songs on my playlist all from him that I'm absolutely in love with. If you want a taste of raw Korean hip-hop, this is the list for you. Zico had a lot of mixtapes before Block B and during their debut and those rap songs are gold and I will include a lot of them here.

Let's go.

Predator Ft. JTONG - Amazing base, killer lyrics (as usual), aggressive rap style, this is honestly one of my favourites. JTONG may not be pleasant on the ears for some.

Dead President - Mellow, quite political, talks about the subject of money, very conceptual rap.

4 My Town Ft. MINO - What came before Okey Dokey, all about the flow of the rap from both Zico and Mino, another example of Zico's chopping style (fast rapping style).

Veni Vini Vici - Great composition, catchy, an all-around nifty jam, a song for the haters.

Heart Is Hurt - This one tugs my heartstrings, it's so raw with its narrative-style rap about heartbreak and it's addicting chorus (you'll know what I mean when you hear it). Simplicity is perfection.

Bermuda Triangle Ft. Crush and Dean - One of Zico's biggest hits today, this is the perfect crossover of hip-hop, trap, and K-pop, honestly I don't even know what genre to consider this.

Billion Chuck - Short in time length (less than two minutes) but this rap is a gem that needs to be discovered, it's composition is catchy and Zico's rap is smooth as always.

No Limit - A confessional rap piece with Zico's traditional chopper rap style with a distinct repetitive composition and a memorable hook that goes 'I-did-it-I-did-it-I-did-it-I-did-it-I-did-it myself'. Zico's collection of songs isn't complete without No Limit.

Yes or No Ft. PENOMECO, The Quiett - If you listen to this song, you'll probably start unconsciously singing 'Aye yes or no' because that chorus won't leave your head. Zico experiments with different vocal styles in his rapping such as aggressive tone, subtle and quiet, and vocal rising.

Turn Around Ft. Kyung - Different from his typical hip-hop tracks, this one has an R&B tone to it with a ridiculously danceable backing track and its compatible hook, this song is bound to be played on repeat...at least that happened to me.

Return of the Otaku - Conceptual song about an avid fan of anime and Japanese culture who lives his life on the internet. It's quite endearing, I wouldn't think Zico would come out with a song like this. This is one of my favourites by him.

I Am You, You Are Me - Skipping over this song is like ignoring Exo's Growl (obviously one of their biggest songs). This song is what made people notice Zico, of course, he still had a following before but I Am You, You Are Me gave his popularity that little oomph to rise him to the spotlight. And I can definitely understand why. This song is a crisp fusion of R&B and a hint of hip-hop by adding a little rap with a little vocal that brings a wider spectrum of audiences.

There are so much more songs I could recommend but I'll stop it here, I think this is a good starter for people who want to discover Zico's music and for people who want to listen to Korean hip-hop. I have not listened to every single Zico song but these are my favourites from what I have heard. If you're a fan of Zico, what are your favourite songs by him? He's going to release a new song soon and I'm so stoked for it!
