Nabi has a sweet face but she always seems a bit lonely. She has a perfect cupid’s bow, and she despises wearing makeup. Her hair is dyed a creamy blonde, and she usually wears loose cardigans or big sweaters. Her go-to pants are jeans, and she can wear the same pair for half a year without washing them. It’s not that she’s lazy, but more because she doesn’t have any other pants. Well, okay, she has a pair of sweatpants, but she wears those at home and while sleeping. She’s on the shorter side, but her weight and height are in proportion, and her body shape is pear. Sometimes she wears glasses, but they’re a hindrance when travelling, so she wears contacts most of the times. Usually, she’ll put her hair in a bun or a ponytail, so her hair has a permanent ponytail wave. She wears bracelets on her left wrist and small diamond studs as earrings. She does carry around lip balm, but she never remembers to use it. Because she’s always travelling, she tends to wear Converse, but when she’s not, she likes to wear flats.

Personality traits: pensive, sensitive, loner, caring, impulsive, intelligent, superstitious

Elaboration: No one really knows what Nabi is thinking. One moment she’ll be laughing like nothing else matters, and the next she’ll be staring into space, looking lonely. It’s not uncommon to see Nabi leaning against the window with her earbuds in, looking at the landscape passing by. She’s very sensitive, and she can fly into a rage with just a word. It really depends on her mood; if she’s in a good mood, it’ll pass, but if she’s in a bad mood, she’ll snap and maybe ignore that person for a while. Despite this, however, she does care a lot about her friends, and no one messes with her friends in front of her. She doesn’t have a lot of strength to physically beat the person up, but she can and will use her surroundings to her advantage and get back at them (even if it’s just something simple like calling the police). Nonetheless, Nabi is fairly superstitious and tries to follow (or avoid) some of them. For instance, she tries not to step on cracks, walk under a ladder, break any mirrors, etc. She also checks her horoscope every day. It annoys everyone she knows because none of them really believe in this stuff. The last one doesn’t really fit in anywhere, but she’s a pretty impulsive person. If she sees something pretty, she might buy it on impulse. If everyone’s gathered in one place, they might find her in a completely different place because she was caught up with one detail (or how beautiful the surroundings were). It’s gotten her lost a lot, and her teammates just hope that she has her phone on her so they can track her (or they could tie a rope around her like a leash XD).

Background: Kim Sijin was born the heir of a large company. She was raised in a private school setting, and she’s always had everything she’s ever wanted. It wasn’t such a bad life, until she went into college. She had to learn how to work with people she’d never seen before, learn how to take care of herself, and she found out that life is not the perfect facade that she’s always known. (It would be great if one of the globetrotters was her roommate who taught her all this). After learning this, going back home was always an awkward situation. She felt terrible that she was sitting in a silk dress, eating from crystal plates and silver forks when there were people out there who couldn’t even afford food. Soon, she stopped going home at all and relinquished her heir status to her younger brother. Her parents could not fathom why she wanted to fight for herself; haven’t they given her the best they could? How dare she be so ungrateful? They disowned her, and that left a huge impact on her life. She never changed her name, but she now goes by Nabi. Like a butterfly, she flits from flower to flower, country to country, learning more about life than she ever could have in a marble mansion.

Life today: She’s a freelance writer living alone in a small apartment on the outskirts of Seoul. It’s hard to say how much she makes, but she definitely needs to have a permanent job at a cafe to be able to stay alive. Nonetheless, she’s much happier than before. Sometimes, though, she sees her family on television, and it makes her sad. She could have been that heiress, and she could have had a great life. Does she regret it? Not even she knows. Does she want to go back? Sometimes, yes. She had money at her fingertips, and now she struggles to live. But maybe she doesn’t regret it. She has more experience now, and it’s much better than being ignorant.

Trivia:

She can play piano and violin.

She loves to read.

I believe I already talked about the significance of the name Nabi.

She doesn’t like rain.

She’s afraid of roller coasters, but if her friends force her, she’ll have fun.

She’s afraid of the dark.

Relationships:

Parents: unnamed; they are the owners of a large company (also unnamed), and they disowned her after she chose to relinquish her heiress status. This hurt her a lot and is a lot of the reason why she’s always so sad. Her mother is Chinese and the daughter of a famous actress who married a rich Korean businessman.

Brother: Kim Sungjin; he is the current heir of the large company that his parents own. He’s much better suited to be in business than his sister. He does care about his sister, and occasionally, he will email her with updates. She never replies. He thinks that it’s because she’s angry at him, but in reality, she just doesn’t want to interfere with his life any further.

Interactions with other globetrotters:

It would be really great if Nabi’s old college roommate was a globetrotter as well. She could have been the one to teach her about the world and how to take care of herself. Otherwise, I think Nabi would get along well with everyone, but she needs her personal space. If there’s a really clingy person, she might gently detach herself.

Motives behind leaving: She was tired of staying the same place that had caused her so much pain. She wanted to explore the world, have that rebellious, adventurous streak that she never had. She wanted to meet other people, see how the rest of the world lived. Most of all, she just wanted to find herself.
