Hey, nice to meet you! I'm...

Name: Chailai Adirake

Nicknames: Chai, Lailai

Age:17 to 23

Birthday: April 27, 1995

Birth place: Pattaya, Thailand

Hometown: Houston, Texas

Have you lived in Korea? If so, how long: 6 years

Blood type: B negative

Ethnicity: Thai

Nationality: American

Languages: English (native, fluent), Korean (advanced to fluent: she can speak it just fine, but she has trouble reading and writing it), French (advanced, schooling), Thai (conversational for when family visited)

Acting The Part

First face claim: Urassaya Sperbund

Links: 1 2 3

Back up face claim: Liza Soberano

Links: 1 2 3

Height [ft]: 5'6

Weight [kg]:49 kgs

Style [how does she dress, what does she like to wear?]: Chai doesn't really care about fashion. She knows what clothes make her look best, which are soft and light colors and more feminine, girly clothing, but she tends to wear whatever she has in the closet or whatever the stylist recommended. Chai is not the type to be in the news for her fashion choices, because she wears normal clothes and doesn't really think twice about what she is wearing.

Small details: Similar to her face claim, Chai is pretty in a more girls next door way, rather than in your face gorgeous. Her visuals are softer, more feminine and youthful, and her looks are fitting of her slightly younger age. Her beauty is pretty understated, because she is not as obviously beautiful, but you can't deny that she is pretty and girlishly attractive. The best ways for her to show off her visuals would be with fantasy themes. When people think of her visuals, they think of the girl you would take home to your family. Pretty, but not too unbelievably pretty. She is slightly more tan than the average SM idol, but its not too different from some JYP and YG idols. With her figure, it is similar to Sooyoung of Girls Generation. She is skinny and tall, more slender than curvy, and one of her bigger problems is eating enough so that she does not get too skinny. She has no tattoos at the moment, but she does want to get one in the future. She has a collection of ear piercing in both ears x x

This Is Who I Am

Personailty: Positive: Gentle, Caring, Quiet, Reliable, Peaceful/forgiving

Negative: Shy, Passive aggressive, People pleaser/doormat, Timid

In Depth: Chai is a gentle and loving girl who always wants what is best for people. If a member is sick or in trouble, you can count on Chai to try to be there for her. She had a lot of love growing up, and she tries to give everyone else as much love as she was given. When she cares for you, it is not in big ways, but is small quiet ways that add up over time. She believes that everyone should be treated equally, from people to animals, and she tries to show an open mind when getting to know someone. While quiet and not a person of many words, you know that you can count on Chai because she is very reliable. When she makes a promise, she tries her hardest to keep that promise and complete it to the best of her ability. She loves when everyone gets along, and she is quiet frequently the peacemaker in the group because of her usual fairness.

While Chai does love people, she is usually pretty shy. She will not be the first to approach anyone, and if they do approach her, it will take a while before she opens up and is a bit more engaging. Most of the time, she just doesn't go out of her way to draw attention to herself. She is also very passive aggressive. Some think that because she is so nice and quiet, that she does not get angry, but it is actually the opposite. She can and will get angry when she feels wronged or used, and while she will remember everything, she just won't voice it. Over time, if the perceived wrong against her continues, she will eventually blow up on the person. It could be a series of little things, and when she finally breaks down and just yells at the person, she won't stop until she feels more calm and she has listed everything they ever did to make her mad. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it usually doesn't fit the situation. (ex. Someone stole her food from the fridge again, and it is the same person that has been antagonizing her for a while, so she just starts to scream at them, with everyone else initially thinking it is only over food). The reason why people think that is okay to do things to her is because she is a people pleaser. She has her own opinions, but she likes getting along more than she likes getting her own way, so Chai tends to just follow the crowd. Even if she doesn't agree, she will only express her annoyance passive aggressively, making the other person not even realize that she is annoyed with them. She is also quiet timid. She is scared of a lot of things/easily frightened, though she tries her best to overcome those fears so that she does not burden everyone else.

She is part of the maknae line, and her personality actually reflect that most of the time. She isn't babyish, just timid and shy, so some feel they would like to shield her from the world. Her fans generally think of her as someone you would want to protect, rather than her protect you.

Likes: chicken, American food, watching dance videos, drawing, reading, candy, stargazing, the quiet, fishing, camping, skin ship and romance, chai tea

Favorites:  swimming, dancing and choreographing, flowers, the beach on a windy day, Winter and everything cold, hot chocolate, babies, sugar, sleeping, family

Dislikes: the heat, losing weight, arguments, condescending people, too many vegetables, horror movies, too intense pranks, people biting fingernails, people taking her food or clothes without asking

Hate with a passion: getting sick, liars, argumentative people, bad attention or too much attention, sore losers, fried onions, rumors and gossip

Habits: she typically speaks with a soft voice, paces and repeats things when scared, kind of dancing along in her seat with other groups on stage, playing with her hair when distracted, thinking up big dance numbers in her head- then getting embarrassed afterwards for zoning out, she speaks in English if she ever gets super excited

Hobbies: reading or sleeping in car rides to distract herself from getting carsick, eating sweet things, talking to her family, watching American comedies and Korean dramas, listening to French songs because she thinks the vocals and everything about them are really soothing

I'm not perfect: Chai is timid, passive aggressive, shy/a wallflower, and a people pleaser

Phobias: She has a lot of tiny fears, like ghosts and the dark. But she usually gets over them. Its just that she is easily frightened in the moment. She does have a huge fear of heights though. She would forget to breath and pass out if she ever had to do something like bungee jump, sky-dive, roller coasters, etc.

Trivia: has learned Taekwondo for 4+ years

she is really good at making dreamy and far off expressions: that is why she wants a fantasy concept

ideal type: Someone who can make me open up more. Someone who makes me feel like there is nothing wrong with being quiet, and someone who is taller than me. A person with a happy and pretty laugh.

She can bake/cook things that require simple instructions, but any further and she is hopeless

She has glasses, but most of the time she wears contacts

She is really good at playing the drums

She likes to play video games, but she is really bad at it

She posted the least on social media in the beginning because she felt awkward and didn't know what to say

She really wants to go on Running Man to see if the cast is actually like that: is Jong Kook really that strong, is Jae Suk really that funny, is Kwang Soo really that bad of a traitor, etc

She writes in her life journal at the end of every day because she wants to see how she has changed when she writes on the same date the next year

She is pretty average or bad at most other sports other than archery. She doesn't know why, but she is really really good at archery

She tries to talk to her family every other day, and she hopes that she is making them proud

So What's The Story?

Background:  Born and raised in America, Chailai grew up in a very loving, normal family. Both her parents were successful doctors in a private practice, and Chailai did not want for much as an only child. She was a quiet and caring girl, and many thought of her family as an ideal family. Chai started dancing when she was 4 years old, when her mother decided that quiet and shy Chai needed a hobby. Chai fell in love with dancing, and she took as many lessons that her rich parents could afford. Chai knows she is lucky with her family, and she tries to pay forth all the love and kindness her parents have showered her with.

While she was Thai by ethnicity, she considered herself as American first, and Thai second because she did not know much about that part of herself. She does try to learn more about her Thai culture and language later on though.

Chailai and her family moved to South Korea when she was 11 years old when her parents needed to go there for medical research. It was supposed to be temporary, about a year, especially since Chai knew barely any Korean. They lived with Chai's aunt, who had started a successful dance school in South Korea (think 1 million Dance Studio). Chai knew she had to find something more to occupy her time, and when she saw a dance group from the studio perform in the streets one day, she knew just what to join. She joined the group and began to learn Korean along the way. Her group was getting slightly famous and winning local competitions, and she was scouted by an SM scout, who initially wanted her to become a backup dancer. Chai, thinking that this was a great opportunity for her to continue dancing but knowing her parents would not want her to only become a back up dancer, went and auditioned for a trainee position. Her rich parents, who decided that they did not need any more money, had signed up for Doctor without Borders and had originally planned on taking Chai with them. After Chai decided she wanted to become an idol however, they decided to let her stay with her aunt for a trial year as a trainee. When they saw how much she liked being a trainee, they decided to let her become a trainee permanently.

They have gotten very close due to how tough the idol world is and how they have been there for each other.

Best Friend: Lee Ji-Eun (I.U.) - 19-24 - Singer and Actress - 5 - Helpful, funny, charming, resolute - Suzy is the one who introduced I.U. to Chai because of how much Chai had gushed over I.U.'s sweet vocals. They Make My Heart Race

Love interest:J-Hope

Age: 17 to 23

Birthday: February 18, 1994

Group/OC: BTS

Personality: Cheerful, enthusiastic, emotional, outgoing

In Depth: [tell me more about their personality!]: Exactly like his catchphrase, I'm your Hope, Jhope is the happy virus of BTS. He is noisy, energetic, and always tries to make himself and other smile. Because of his outgoing and happy-go-lucky personality, it can be hard to get to know the real J-Hope, who in reality has a lot of insecurities and doubts about himself. With his amazing dancing and rapping skills, Jhope knows that feeling insecure shouldn't be a thing for him, but sometimes, his insecurities can get the best of him and his emotions can cause him to break down for a little bit.

How you met: J-Hope has always been a fan of Chai and her dancing. While the other members all have the other members of Sunrise as their favorites, Jhope has always been a very vocal and loyal fanboy of Chai. When Sunrise and BTS met each other at an award ceremony in 2014, Sunrise was quick to encourage their juniors. Chai was standing off a little to the side in amusement while BTS fanboyed over Sunrise, and Jhope took his chance to get to know his ultimate ideal type. Chai was a little taken aback from his enthusiastic and playful nature, but just like anyone who ever met Jhope, she quickly warmed up to him. While in the beginning, Chai only felt admiration for Jhope and his ability to be so open and loud, her feeling quickly changed. Chai was actually the first to fall in love with him, after a few months of knowing him. Because she was so timid, she never really told him, because she was too afraid of rejection. Jhope on the other hand just thought what he felt for Chai was simply a celebrity crush. He didn't really let himself think on those feelings any further because she was a senior and dating in the industry usually doesn't work out. It wasn't until he saw Chai do a touchy dance duet with another male celebrity (who was similiar to what Chai stated her idea type was) in late 2015 that he finally admitted to himself that he was in love with her. Jhope, thinking he had nothing to lose (because he knew Chai would still be there for him even if she rejected him) and fearing that Chai would start to fall for the male celebrity, confessed to Chai soon after he came to terms with his feelings, and they have been secretly dating ever since.

The way you act around each other: Because Jhope is so loud and outgoing, while Chai is so quiet and gentle, it was slightly hard for them to get to know each other in the beginning. As time went on, they both began to rub off on each other, with Jhope being a little less enthusiastic and noisy, and Chai being more open about her feelings and much more talkative when they were together. The way Chai acts around Jhope always amuses the other members because she only started to act less shy around them after some time of knowing them, and with Jhope, it was almost immediate. Even though J-hope is a little bit older than Chai, their relationship is more similiar to a noona-dongsaeng relationship, with Chai's caring nature and Jhopes childishness.

Status: (Secretely) Dating in late 2015

Scene requests: Chai being so unintentionally obvious about her feelings, that the other BTS members call her out on it right in front of J-Hope, but Jhope still not getting the hint, Sunrise and BTS/Jhope on variety show together

Arch Nemesis

Chai is way too unconfrontational too have a long term rival. Her personality just doesn't let her hold a grudge too long

The Journey

Trainee life: One of the only things Chai has always been confident about is her dancing skills. She never questions it, and she knows it is because she has worked hard to get to the level she is today. Other trainees always knew that if they debuted with Chai, there was really no way they would be main dancer, because that is where Chai just outshone most others. Over the years, Chai has quickly become known as one of the best SM dancers. When new trainees and other entertainment companies saw her, they were slightly confused as to why she was a trainee, because while she was pretty, she wasn't drop dead gorgeous like they had come to expect with SM trainees, and she was also pretty wallflowerish. It wasn't until they people saw her dancing that they realized why she was in SM. She completely transforms when she dances, and her expressions are always fierce and charismatic. What they see is Chai's self-professed stage persona. Taking a page from Beyonce and her alter ego, Chai has always felt like when she dances, she is another person completely. She tries to tell a story with her dancing, and she always pulls through. Singing wise, Chai could sing a little, but she wasn't really interested in it, and she wasn't really good either. She realized her best chance to debut was through her dancing and rapping, so she focused on those up until they debut. Chai is a good rapper, but that is more because of her charisma and fierceness rather than lyrics or pronounciation. She is fine with not being main rapper, because she really just wants to focus on her dancing. Among the trainees, Chai only had a few friends, because most never really had the time to try and get to know shy Chai. Chai also only knew conversational Korean when she became a trainee, so the few that did get to know her did have trouble conversing with her in the beginning. Chai wasn't really bullied or discriminated against because no one really noticed her except for when she was dancing. When they did notice her, even then it was hard to really pick on her due to her passive aggressive nature and lack of response to the bullying. Most of the problems Chai is going to face about her race is going to be after debut, when she starts to get more famous in the public.
