Appearance
Soohyun is kind of unassuming in appearance. Handsome enough but not the kind that has you staring down the street. He looks like the boy next door, which he is happy to project much of the time. Dat perfect-son-in-law aesthetic.

Style
Soohyun's styel variest wildly depending on if he's in his high-society-on mode or just on his own. He'll wear expensive suits and polos and caridgans and all that posh aesthetic when he has to, but on his own he just prefers to dress simply in tshirts and shorts or jeans. Nothing extravagant, just comfort.

.

Name: Yang Soohyun
Character Nickname(s)
☁︎ Park Myunsik— the name he used for the website.

Birthplace Seoul, SK
Hometown Seoul, SK
Birthday 03/03/1994
Language(s)
☁︎ Native Korean
☁︎ Fluent English — Soohyun spent most of his teens and then some living in America. He went to a boarding school there (it was deemed more prestigious) and went on to do a bachelor in architecture there. He only just came back to Korea after graduation.

Personality
☁︎ Oblivious, creative, intelligent, eloquent, more than a little hipster, patient, introverted, cowardly, overthinker, obedient, both chill and a stick in the mud depending on his surroundings

The way Soohyun is depends heavily on if he's with his family / in his rich social circle mode or if he's just with friends. He's always been taught to be the polite figure of the family and always put his best foot foward. He's the pride of the family, that guy your mom compares you to whenever you've done something shameful. Look at the pristine example of a song Yang Soohyun is! He even went to an Ivy League school in America and graduated with honours!

When in high society mode Soohyun is nothing short of the gentleman, but also loses much of the personality he had. He's a people pleaser, becoming who his parents want him to be. Moms swoon when he comes by, thinking how lucky they should be if their daughters married a guy like him (and probably planning some talks with his parents). Honestly though, he's boring, and he's really just pretending to be someone he isn't to please his family. In that mode he is a right stick in the mud, always worried about his image and making sure he's presenting the right one. It also helps that Soohyun has a natural eloquence shaped even more by his writing experience. Flattery comes easy to him.

He's very focused on what other people think of him, and he'll do things he doesn't want just because he feels he should do them. See: his entire current career path. He's got a very strong sense of should, and can get bogged down doing what he doesn't do because he feels obligated to do it.

In his own time, though, Soohyun is really much different. He's fairly chill, content to just live and let live and likes to spend time on his own just writing or reading. He also has actual personality! The real Soohyun, honestly, can be savage in his wit. A sarcastic jab comes as easy to him as flowery flattery and he's known for being a snarky thing to his friends. The more comfortable he is with you, the more of his bite you will see.

He's also, honestly, low-key hipster. He doesn't really pay much mind to the mainsteam and likes his indie bands and books and such. He tends to like the quieter and more high literature things, likes things that make him think or feel. He, himself, is a very creative person. Writing is his passion, and he's often slipping away into thoughts of stories, or taking out his notebook to jot down this sliver of an idea he just got. Soohyun has a very interesting way of seeing the world somtimes, and he always tries to see the beauty in everything he sees. Honestly, Soohyun could make an industrial lot seem poetic, he has a way with words. This also reflects in the way he talks, he can be damned eloquent, and sometimes cheekily likes to flatter with the utmost eloquence.

He's always rather mature as a person, grounded and low-key, but not above a scandalous joke here and there amongst friends. It can really take someone aback when he first cracks a terrible joke like what is this? Yang Soohyun has a sense of humour and it is terrible?? Yup. He's also really open-minded and open to trying anything at least once. Soohyun loves new experiences! He loves adventure and finding out new things and learning and knows that every bit of life experience will make him a better writer.

He's really quite dense though. While he's intelligent nobody would call him observant. There are many things that fly straight over his head, among them all of the times 'Sun' accidentally messes up his not-rich-person cover. It's mostly because he gets this image of a person and is slow to amend it, so it's like he's almost knowingly blind to these kinds of suggestions that someone might not be the way he thinks they are. It's how it took him so long to figure out his previous boyfriend was only in it for the money and free dinners. He doesn't want to know.

He, himself, overthinks everything about the lie, lying in general makes him nervous so he's created this whole elaborate cover for himself. Everytime Sun asks something he didn't plan for he gets nervous and creates another side of the lie, going home to research everything he can about it. Where  he works? Oh eeeh he's a barista at this and this place. Goes home to research everything there is to know about being a barista and comes to the next meeting with coffee he made himself, including painstakingly practiced figure on top of the milk foam. That's just how thorough he is about everything.

Background
Soohyun was born the third generation of rich in his family, his father the CEO of a succesful insurance firm, inherited from his father. Growing up in his household was strict, it was always face first and be the proper obedient little kid. Soohyun grew up with 90 degrees bows and always politeness and being the handsome kid who didn't bother people. It gave him this strong sense of should that he has, always behaving the way he should and always trying to be a positive influence to his environment. Not exactly a bad thing if it also didn't come with this unquestioning obedience to his family. He aways knew he'd go to university and study something prestigious to make his family proud. He had an older brother so taking over the company thankfully wouldn't fall to him, but that didn't mean he got freedom either.

When he was 14 he went to the United States for boarding school, something seen as very prestigious, having a son educated in America, where his life got flipped turned upside down. America was... different definitely. There he learned all about individualism and liberalism (somewhat at least) and all that good stuff. He also learned about himself, and he learned that homouality was a thing, and he learned that it was a thing partaining to himself.

After high school he decided to stay and go to university there, getting accepted in Columbia University with great grades (and great donations) to major in architecture, advised by his father. He also took a minor in creative writing though, and he found he really loved in and had a knack for it. Honestly Soohyun would love nothing more than to be an author, but he can't. That is not what he should do according to his family. He had a good life there, wasn't exactly open with his uality but dated a guy for over a year, only to find out that guy was mostly interesting in his money. They had a messy breakup a few months before graduation, leaving Soohyun with some trust issues in regards to his own status as rich kid.

Then after graduation his dad called him back to do his Masters in Korea, feeling he'd been away from the country for too long. He always went back for the holidays but it wasn't the same, and he'd been out of the whole Seoul elite social circle for a while now. Soohyun didn't really want to, he knew Korea offered much less social freedoms, but ever obedient to the family he came home. Now he's back in Seoul, and thankfully he got to negotiate a stay on campus instead of staying at his parents' place for the duration of his masters course, at least giving him some form of privacy. But Soohyun was lonely, honestly. He didn't really want to go to Itaewon to pick up guys because one nights stands weren't what he was interested in. Soohyun wants a relationship, plain and simple. He wants something real, but how do you find that when you're in the closet and finding other gays is hard enough?

How, you ask? An open-minded dating service of course!

Love Interest Kim Sunhee
Faceclaim Hoshi (SVT)
Nickname(s)
☁︎ Lee Sun — The alias he's going by. Okay let's get one thing straight right off the bat: Sunhee isn't very smart. He makes up for it with enthusiasm but this kid isn't the brightest, no matter what his name might suggest.

Birthplace Seoul, SK
Hometown Seoul, SK

Birthday 14/09/1994
Language(s)
☁︎ Native Korean

Personality
☁︎Flamboyant, dramatic, self-centered, (often inadvisably) honest, a little lot dumb honestly, sassy, positive, stubborn, flirty and playful), impatient, oh boy extroverted easily distracted, shameless, kind of a hot mess.

Oh man. Sunhee. Where to start on this kid. Buckle up, keep your appendages inside the vehicle, this is going to be something.

First impression is honestly this kid is so gay he probably farts rainbows. Sunhee is the flamboyant and dramatic kind of gay. The one making a big deal of the fact that you got coffee for everyone else but forgot him? That's Sunhee. That dramatic gasp coming from the other side of the room when someone dares to imply that SNSD aren't the queen of Korea? Yep, Sunhee. He can't stand it when people ignore him and loves being the center of attention.

Sunhee is playful and energetic and superficially a people person. His connections don't often go deeper than skindeep, but he's the life of the room. He has zero shame at all and is good at making people feel they're his best friend within minutes of meeting them. He's just so free and careless and chatty and overdramatic even in an affectionate way. All of that is skindeep though, in reality Sunhee is a little tsundere who's out of tune with his own feelings, and getting actual to stay deep feelings for someone will confuse the out of him how is he supposed to deal with that???

Sunhee really values honestly and is always sincere about how he is. It hasn't always been easy being Kim Sunhee, effeminate gay man, and it won't always be easy in the future, but Kim Sunhee, effeminate gay man, is and will always be himself. Well, except when he's pretending to be someone else for the sake of a dare, that is. He's also quite rubbish at it, honestly it's a testament to Soohyun's density that he hasn't figured out there's something up with Lee Sun. Sunhee keeps messing up left and right and he's really just  a big dumb dumb but Soohyun is dense.

One can safely say that Kim Sunhee is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Sunhee is very likely to say really stupid at any point in time, but he's goodnatured enough to be able to laugh at his own stupidity when pointed out. Not only is he a little dumb, but he's also very easily distracted. Sunhee prefers to go through life floating from one fun thing to another. As it stands Sunhee takes any excuse to have fun and not do work, and not only that but he has the attention span of a goldfish.

He's not without fangs either, Sunhee is surprisingly sassy and occasionaly savage. He's quick to resort to sarcasm in the face of anyone else's stupidity, and with his impatience when dealing with anyone's his sass comes out quite often. Sunhee deals with annoying things by rolling his eyes and quipping something sarcastic and usually ends up only making the situation worse.

Sunhee is fundamentally self-centered. He's always busy with himself, thinking about himself, making choices that benefit himself. He doesn't even do it on purpose really, he's just never really had to care much about others, never had a second fiddle. Even his friendship with his best friend is rather supervicial. As with everything Sunhee, he really just needs someone to be blunt and up front with him if he's being an egotistical again, and actually appreciates that kind of honesty. Sunhee has to leanr how to be considerate of others in the face of someone he actually really really cares about. That will be a foreign concept to him, and rather confusing at first. A learning experience. Sunhee will up a lot, honestly, but he will try.

He's got this very.... unique way of showing positivity. Sunhee is not one to wallow in misery, he's always looking toward the future, even if he's got a coarse and sarcastic way of showing it. He's blunt and to the point, and more than a littel coarse. If something bad is happening he will tell you to square your shoulders, get your head out of your and your together, and face that bull.  He's not gentle, but, well, he's Sunhee what did you expect?

Background

Sunhee is the son of two high profile actors, Lee Minja and Kim Sihyung, and has always at least midkey been in the spotlight. He grew up with cameras, it was all normal for him. He had some roles as child actor here and there, did some pictorals with the parents whenever necessary, and honestly he loved the attention.

His parents were a lot less strict than Soohyun, as long as he behaved for the cameras he was basically allowed to do what he want, and Sunhee grew up into the flamboyant little thinig he is now. He loved the spotlight and he was damned good at it. Sunhee lives and breathes cameras, flamboyancy, and attention seeking, he was all but crafted for the spotlight.

Then he found out he was gay. Well honestly he'd always kind of known, and anyone who wasn't Korean with their heads in the sand could have seen it from a mile away, but a faithful trip to Itaewon when he was 16 and a mindblowing revelation that homouality is a thing later and Sunhee was enlightened. So that's why he'd had that crush on Lee Minho everything made sense now!

He told his aprents basically immediately, always prone to honesty, and they took it rather well really. They sat him down for A Discussion about his future and what this meant. Did he really want to be in the spotlight if he was gay? Was that wise? What if the media found out? To their credit they were solely concerned with the effect it might have on Sunhee, and Sunhee agreed that maybe it was time to stop.

So he stopped being in the spotlight much, stopped his little sideroles here and there, stopped the pictorals, and he's kind of been floundering since. He's not really good at anything else (unless you count dancing to SNSD songs, which he does but you shouldn't) and doesn't really know what to do with himself. So he does what he's always done, enjoy the rich life, go to parties here and there, visit Itaewon for some good fun with likeminded (and -ual) people, and not take life too serious.

Honestly most people in the circles of the haves know who Sunhee is, he's a bit notorious as an overdramatic party kid. Invite Sunhee to your party and he is guaranteed to liven it up like the Sun he is. His uality is also basically the worst kept secret, it's just one of those things everyone kind of knows but nobody likes to talk about. A kid as flamboyant as he is who has been known to party it up in certain places in Itaewon and, yeah, it's not really a secret. To the actual public he's mostly been forgotten, he's been MI for about 6 years now and those who keep up with the haves might still know of him but who cares about some floundering rich kid?

Sunhee has never been in a relationship before, not really. He's had consecutive one night stands, but not a relationship. One time, when he was drunk at some rich kid's party, he was dared that he probably couldn't have one if he tried. Sunhee gasped, how dare such accusations be thrown upon him! He could date if he wanted to, he just didn't! Prove it, his also very drunk best friend challenged him. Keyboards were fumbled, app stores were opened, a certain dating site was registered for. But you can't rely on your name and money, the rich best friend slurred with a determined nod that saw him stumble backwards from the ricochet. I don't rely on my name, Sunhee refuted quickly, sobered up a little by his affront and passion for any kind of challenge. He'll date someone just you wait! It'll be great! He'll date the best boy and it will be like an actual thing, hell, he'll date him for a month long! He doesn't have commitment issues and/or a crippling disability of talking to cute boys without alcohol what are you talking about lies and disingenuous assertations! And so this whole mess happened.

Trivia

☁︎ He has definitely heard of Yang Soohyun, but has never met him. Soohyun has the reputatino of being the kind of perfect high achiever guy who those in Sunhee's social circle find super boring and annoying. One of those people your dad is always comparing you to, if you're the shame of the family. Why can't you be more like Yang Soohyun? He went to an American Ivy League school, is always polite, doing his masters and bringing pride to his family. //insert Sunhee doing miming vomiting

There is absolutely no way Sunhee's chill and adorable Myunsik is Yang Soohyun nope.

☁︎ He is the biggest SNSD fanboy. Seriously. It's kind of embarrassing. He knows all their dances. He met them once (yay famous parents!) and he's pretty sure part of him died that day.

☁︎ He can, and will, twerk.

☁︎ Sunhee is smol and a little sensitive about his height (168cm)

☁︎ He has a habit of casually swearing in an affectionate way. He's always calling people heads and s of his heart.

☁︎  Sunhee's style is definitely more out there than Soohyun, he likes flashy and expensive clothes and his style can be the good and the bad side of fashionista.

☁︎ Of course he would set the princess dabbing picture as his profile on the dating site why are you even questioning this it's Sunhee we're speaking of.

Family
☁︎ Father — Yang Kyunghan — 62

The pater familiar of this very conservative family, Kyunghan was born in wealth and only made his family wealthier. He's the absolute authority of the family and Soohyun listens to everything he says, always looking to please his father and make him proud.

Friends
☁︎ Mother — Im Sookha — 60

He's the apple of her eye and Soohyun loves her too, though he recognizes that she's honestly quite basic. A housewife who has delegated herself to being a housewife, albeit one who hardly has to do anything because of staff. She's a stereotype honestly, the rich wife who gets together with other rich wives for gossip and outrage, but she means well to her kdis at least. Would probably be most accepting to the gay thing if Soohyun ever got the guts to come out. Currently nagging way too much about when he's going to find a gf and if he needs any recommendations, but Soohyun endulges her.

☁︎ Brother — Yang Namhyun — 26

They're not super close, honestly. Namhyun is the son groomed to follow his father's footsteps, the one kept close in Korea while Soohyun was allowed to go study in foreign waters. There's no jealousy there, but they never grew close after Soohyun spent so much time studying abroad and Namhyun got busy in the company

Others
☁︎ Roommate and best friend — Park Hanhyun — 23

Hanhyun is his roommate for a few months now but the two grew to be total bros. It's rare that your randomly assigned roommate ends up being actual friend material but Soohyun was that lucky bastard.

Hanhyun is a bit of a honestly, an underachiver himself who often pokes fun at Soohyun's dual personal of puppet versus person (his words) and always having to be the perfect one, but it's friendly and Soohyun jabs him back about being a stoner good for nothing and then they go out and get ice cream. Hanhyun will merciless make fun of Soohyun for basically everything about the 'Sun' situation (including making sun puns, he's knows just neough english to make the worst puns), while rolling his eyes whenever there is gushing.

Interview
☁︎Hello, and welcome to Match From Heaven! Tell me about yourself and why you chose my lovely services.

Hello! I'm Park Myunsik, a student at Seoul National University doing a masters in architecture by day and doing some writing here and there by night.

Honestly I'm here because it's hard to find likeminded gay men outside of Itaewon, and likeminded there is debatable.

☁︎ Is there an ideal partner you've dreamed about?

I'm not sure actually! Someone sweet maybe? With the same interests maybe? Honestly I leave it into your assuredly more than capable hands, I am open to anything.

☁︎What kind of relationship are you looking for? Be as specific as you'd like!

I want to find someone who is open to an actual relationship, something to last. I'm not interested in a fling or anything, I want at least the potential for a partner, or at least something longer than a summer's day.

☁︎Do you believe in any kind of love at all?

Yes! I am poet, how could I not believe in love?

☁︎Anything I should absolutely know before finding your match? Absolute no-gos, parent issues, any kind of baggage I should be aware of? .

I'm open to anything honestly. Oh I can speak English too if that makes a difference, foreigners are fine!

First Meeting
Ridiculous, that's what. Both of them anxious to not run into any acquaintances and blow their covers, they were more than happy to meet in the outskirts of Seoul in a lil cafe suuuper out of the way. It was a little awkward at first, Soohyun wasn't expecting anyone like Sunhee, whileSunhee would rather die before admitting he'd never gone on a date in his life (and of course he was a little late because he got distracted by something on the way), but surprisingly despite their differences they actually got along. Soohyun thinks Sun is an idiot, and Sunhee thinks Myunsik is kind of weirdly hipster, but they also both think the other is super cute.

Soohyun was cautiously optimistic, Sun was really cute but also reeeally out there and different, and Soohyun was, well, sceptical about this whole thing. Sunhee thought that maybe this dare didn't have to be too abd I mean the guy was cute he could probably stand him for a month and then he'd have won the dare and it didn't matter anymore. Oh boy they had no idea.

Interactions
It's a testament to both of their respectively stupidity, and Soohyun's denseness and inherent hipsterness that they didn't immediate recognize each other. It also helps that they don't often mix in the same circles, Soohyun is a common face in the dinner parties that Sunhee avoids like the plague, and Soohyun would tarnish his perfect son reputation if he'd go to the kind of parties Sunhee loves Soohyun denies any kind of hint at Sunhee's real identity because he doesn't want to know. Sunhee doesn't have an excuse, he's just kind of dumb bless his soul.

They honestly get along rather well. Soohyun balances Sunhee's craziness, while Sunhee brings interest to Soohyun's life and pushes him to his limit. Soohyun loves following Sunhee into dumb scenarios and letting Sunhee push him out of his comfort zone, after all it's life experience! Meanwhile they sass each other to hell and back. You'd think they were a match made in heaven, if they weren't internally sweating about blowing their covers all the time.

At first Soohyun is amused but a little taken aback by Sunhee and how, well, Sunhee he is. It's not exactly what he'd been expected nor his type, but Sunhee's ridiculousness ended up being just what he needed. He's cautious at first, not quite sure what to make fo the guy, but oh how he falls.

Meanwhile Sunhee is screaming internally because what are feelings?? He's never had this before??? How does one deal with it?? He goes back and forth between screaming and denying honestly as he tries to learn how to deal with this.

Basically they are exactly what the other needs, both honest enough to tell the other the things they need to hear (stop being so stupid Sun / it's not all about you / you're such a damned tsundere / Kim Sunhee you are a damned idiot sometimes) (Take a leap of faith, have some fun, stop thinking about your assignments all the time Myunsik / you are so not Yang Soohyun that's just not you that's the fake you / when are you going to actually think about yourself you head).

But of course there are hurdles, as there always must be. The constant lying, the weird hypocritical feelings of betrayal upon finding out about the lies, the stick in the mud Soohyun facade, the closet.

And then there was the time their whole thing was almost ruined because Soohyun said he'd nevr listened to SNSD before and wasn't super impressed. Sunhee honestly just stuck around because of the dare after that grievous affront. But fences were mended, and Sunhee is honestly, at one point, in way too deep.

Trivia

☁︎ Soohyun has also definitely heard about Kim Sunhee, the kind of good for nothing kid who's just drinking and partying his family's money away. It's a good thing you're nothing like Kim Sunhee, shame of his family, his father would tell Soohyun.

There is absolutely no way that Sun- actually it's really not a stretch.

☁︎ Soohyun does like going out for drinks or dancing, and he goes out sometimes with friends. Just definitely not to the same places Sunhee frequents.

☁︎ His writing of choice is either short stories or poetry, all of it thought-provoking and profound of course.

☁︎  He's smoked weed before, a learning experience, but didn't like it much. Too much loss of control.

☁︎  He quotes literature sometimes. Sunhee gets none of it.

Questions/Comments
☁︎ I'd like to think that the matchmaker knew exactly what she was doing butting the two idiot rich kids together xD

☁︎ Okay so since this is a little late I didn't have time to go into their first meeting/interactions as detailed as I could have, but I trust you and give you free reign over these two idiots oh my god they're so stupid-

Scene Suggestions
☁︎ Oh man please just give me so many dumb shenanigans with these two es.

☁︎ I'd love a moment where they actually cross paths in the rich circles and Sunhee is like ??? Myunsik = Yang Soohyun wtf??? HOW.
