update from Italy

I arrived safely yesterday.

Weather report: cold. dry. better than home

Milano's airport is COLD though

So that aside, first two days have been fine. I wasn't supposed to work yesterday (obviously) but I ended up tagging along with the kids and their old babysitter just to see the school and all that. What worried me was the mom mentioned yesterday that 'there are markets so you can buy your own food.'

She showed me the shops today and I couldn't help asking -  is she intending to have me get my own stuff? As an aupair, that's a nono (both from the pay and because it IS supposed to be included, one of the reasons to the crap pay. She said no and explained that what she meant was that if there's anything they don't have OR I want to send home, I can get there. Plus it's good to know. I feel like I'm going paranoid at this time, constantly waiting for the bad stuff to come.

OK so my duties are interesting: take care of my own room - bathroom, help with the gameroom... take the kids to activities and so on

And then there's the baby. So.. I was dead afraid of her being left alone with me (mom is with her - NOT my responsibility) but the mom had to jump out a few times during the day... and it went well. I mean sure first thing first when she was suddenly handed to me I was like wtf do I do with it, but I managed to calm her and rocked her a bit,. Second time was the same for like 20 minutes or more so...progress

One thing I have not mentioned: only the dad is good at English. They all TRY but it's obvious that they want me to be their teacher, which, with lacking the common tongue, can be tough XD I understand Italian OK but can't speak so XD We are all learning. Tomorrow or Sunday I am heading to Monza, the other day, to Milano so if anyone lives there, tell me at least about what places to visit :D

I'm dead tired but work 2 hours in the morning so first I need sleep lol :D

(also the host mom seems shocked at my old duties at the other house lol. She's like 'On Saturday, we have no time to wake up, just be here from 10 so that when the kids do homework, they don't fight XD' I'm like ok yay :D

Sadly for you this is the worst weather you could ever get in Lombardy(?)(Lombardia) because it's not rain nor snow the one that fall but.. a sad and cooold mud mixture. But..the forecast are good for next week!
Usually saturday is the craziest day in a week, some families have work, school, extra activities in the evening, and then all the relatives ecc ecc ecc, or all of this - except for work and shool - is squeezed on sunday. You're the first au pair I ever known about here in Italy, so it's kinda strange.. I don't know how italian families are in this contest. I hope you'll have a great time nonthless.

And.. english is like a giant monster. We try, we really really try but we always fail in our maccheric version lol Deep in all the mistakes and crazy gesture is the message :)

I hope the weather will calm down so you can go to Duomo in Milan, to the Castello Sforzesco and to the Arco della Pace, but there are a lot of places, it depens on what you want to see. While in Monza you may go to the center, is full of shops and the "new generation of Tamarri - teens with terrible dressing taste lol - " or the Duomo in Monza and Villa Reale.

Sorry for my mistakes and enjoy your stay! *^*

Hello darling!
I didn't know you were coming from Italy! Unfortunately I'm not from Milan and I'm not familiar with that zone either since I've never visited it. But I am italian so if I can help in other ways, if you have doubts, needs to ask something etc etc, just know you can always ask me :3
I hope everything will go well, that you will enjoy your stay here and that this family will be kind and helpful!
Good night^^
