are you new here? a sentence that saeyi no longer unfamiliar with. blending just right with the community, even after four years studying at joongdong high school, she will always be a freshmen in people’s eyes. either because she never stands out that nobody remembers her or just because she looks too young to be a 4th year student. nonetheless, saeyi never liked to be in the centre of attention. she’d favor to keep shut, hold her head low and hug her books tight between her arms because socializing is something she’s never good at. she’s not a teachers’ pet nor a lone wolf, saeyi fits just right in the middle. and she’d love to keep it that way.

saeyi is that type of girl to blush even if you were just asking her if she’d like some coffee. for some reason, her heart beats faster whenever someone initiates a small talk and gets incredibly scared when someone says ‘i need to talk to you’. practically, when ms. ahn offered her to join the committee, she literally died a little inside. she has also mastered the art of airborn-walk that nobody can hear her footstep anymore. she might just appear behind you with her long black hair covering her face and give you the shock of the lifetime when you turn around. her favorite uncle always mentions that she has quite a soft voice, not less than a whisper if you may say and that she needs to voice out sometime but saeyi would still keep her tone down because what she may say might leads to a bad consequences and she learned it the hard way. saeyi is also not the most careful person around. occasionally hitting people while opening doors, she’s most likely to give a bad first impressions to most people. artistic people sees the world in a different way thus the clumsiness. well, at least that’s what her uncle said.

regardless the rest, she is rather passionate over everything she does and tends to give her all especially when it comes to art and painting. when she was nine and was throwing fit because she can’t tie her shoe, her uncle (being narcissistic as ever) once said, ‘everyone can do everything but if you put an effort and a zest of passion in it, you’ll become like me. i know you want to be me.’ ever since then, she’d constantly trying hard and always in love with whatever outcome she may get even though her cookies are all burnt and broke a bicycle and almost got her cousin blind while playing makeovers. she embraces the happiness that comes with it. even when she is good at something, saeyi always keep it lowkey and humble about it. always thinking that she still need to improvise things she does, every time mrs. ahn praises her she just get super red and constantly denying it. but that’s just how she is.

born in a well-off family, saeyi always gets what she wants as kid as long as she behave. she is proud that her mother is a doctor and that her father is a fashion designer but successful parents comes with a price, they say. her parents are always at work and only home for dinner and a good night sleep. So, saeyi has always been alone with no one to talk to until she was five when saeyi’s mother decided to have her younger brother, jung ilsoo, to babysit saeyi for a good amount of money. so basically, she grew up with her uncle ilsoo and probably the only one she’s ever been close to in her entire life. she learned to wear her shoes with ilsoo, she learned to ride a bicycle with ilsoo, she started kindergarten with ilsoo. also, learned about girly stuff with ilsoo. in fact, she got tangled with artistic hobbies was also because of ilsoo. eventhough most saeyi’s memories happened around ilsoo, her days were still occupied with acrylic paint on a canvas in an empty house as ilsoo also has his own life to take care of. thus, the lack of social skills and the fear of going out of her comfort zones gradually worsen. her first day of high school was hellish for her, feeling anxious to meet new people, she was also told that ilsoo was leaving for europe as he got a job as an artist there. With that, that day is the start of her actual life. the start of multiple adventures and being mature.

as a student of joongdong high school, saeyi didn’t make that much friend and they don’t mind her at all. her teacher once mentioned that ‘saeyi is a good student and she never causes problem’. saeyi never liked school, she only attend daily because of the club (and that her mother would kill her if she misses a day). the art and drama club is the only thing that like and it keeps her mind at ease. if she is able, sometimes she would spend most of her time in the art room and do what she does best. painting. usually, she takes the responsibilities for the stage props and backdrops for plays. she was never the leader of sort, always being the one to take orders but she never complains. nonetheless, she would always be the last one leaving the art room because she lose track of time and somehow, that made ms. ahn in awe.

saeyi has quite a baby face with two chunks of mochi on her cheeks which usually covered by her charcoal black hair. she likes to keep her hair slightly curled, long and free without being tied most of the time unless she was painting or going out with her parents. then, she would either tie it up in a high ponytail or twin ponytails. exposing her neck to thin air kind of makes her uncomfortable so she uses her hair as shield. (also when she is flustered, she would use her hair to cover her face) saeyi dislikes to wear any kinds of make-up because she said it feels greasy and gross but her cousins does acknowledge her skills and always have her to apply make-up for them for special family event. however, she still has her daily face routine which every morning and night, she would soak a small piece of cloth in green tea and let her face absorbs the nutrients. it does make skin more glowing and less oily.

saeyi’s fashion never changes. her uncle said that saeyi is a living cartoon where she wears the same clothes everyday (which she profusely deny it). only wearing either oversized sweater or t-shirt with a skirt and a pair of black, long stockings. the difference on her everyday casual look is either she tuck in her upper clothing or not. even though, she knows how to play with colors and very much an expert about it, saeyi still collect only brown color outfit with only different shades of it. she is never confident enough to be able to wear colorful outfit. her faded white sneakers is the only shoes she own aside from her school shoes. while at home, a long-sleeved shirt and pants is a must to minimize paint from reaching any parts of her body. why not wear an apron saeyi? she can’t tie things she can’t see. being saeyi, she never bothers to make a change on her uniform as she is afraid to be called out for doing so. in fact, she will always bring a towel so that paint won’t smudge her uniform but she does wear leggings just for extra protection from paint and boys.
