BIRTHNAME : Kim KyuWon (김규원)
NICKNAMES :

▸ Kyute/Cute — From his annoying best friend, it's a play on "kyu" from his first name. KyuWon punches his arm every time Jaehyuk calls him that. Jaehyuk definitely thinks it's worth it.

▸ Baby Boy — Yeah, no matter how old he gets his mom/sister (Explained later on in backgorund) never stops calling him her baby boy. He let's her because it makes her happy.

▸ Chef Boy — KyuWon called this mockingly by his coworkers, mostly because they're bitter he gets the high-paying job while they don't. What can you do? He's just a better cook than you. And baker. And person- Sorry, too deep?

DATE OF BIRTH : May 26th, 1997
BIRTHPLACE : Jyeosaeng, South Korea
ETHNICITY : Korean
LANGUAGES SPOKEN :

▸ Korean — Fluent, native langauge

▸ Malay — Semi-fluent, it may seem weird but KyuWon has been self-teaching Malay because he one day really wants to visit Singapore and they speak Malay. So since he was eleven he's been teaching himself, but can't call himself fluent unless he spends some time and hears the language in action.

FACE CLAIM : Cha, Eunwoo (Astro)
BACK-UP FACE CLAIM : Kim, Mingyu (Seventeen)
HEIGHT & WEIGHT : 183 cm and 64 kg
APPEARANCE :

▸ Not to be conceited, but KyuWon has heard his whole life how handsome it is. With an oval-like face shape, prominent chin, cherry red shaped lips and a cute nose, people have been debating for years whether to call him hot or adorable- His best friend votes both, but KyuWon hates Jaehyuk anyway so. Anyway, KyuWon works out regularly to keep the abs that his classmates freaked out over in senior year swimming unit. He's pretty proud of them. KyuWon has smaller shoulder for a guy, but he doesn't mind- No one can really for it when he towers over them all anyway. His skin is pale and soft, thanks to a pretty intense skincare regime that he follows. His hair is always kept the natural color and generally the same style, few changes except some days he lets it be curly. KyuWon has various scars on his hands and fingers, while he was trying to learn how to use a knife and a grater the best while learning how to cook- Yeah, it sounds as gross as it was. However, there is one serious, three-and-a-half inch scar straight down his left thumb to the round bone in his hand when he was working the late shift last year. KyuWon cut straight through because he simply wasn't paying attention and had to get some serious stitches. It scarred pretty badly and whenever he looks at it, a light shiver runs down his spine. It was a pretty traumatising event.

who are you, human?

PERSONALITY TRAITS :

(+) Hard-working, alert, passionate, energetic, reliable, earnest

(=) Loyal, competitive, sarcastic, athletic

(-) Reactive, argumentative, strong-willed, intolerant, unconfident, complaintive

PERSONALITY : His whole life, Kim KyuWon has been working hard. Be it to behave to not make trouble for his sister, in class to get good grades, or to simply be great at his job. He was never one to laze around, instead always busying himself with some sort of important task. And when he does it, he does it right- Even if it takes hours, KyuWon will put out hard work and good quality. He is very passionate about the things he does, and especially cooking. He's a master in the kitchen and this is because he always worked, worked, and worked to make himself great at it. His passion feeds everything about him, and it's just to different, the way his eyes light up when he talks about cooking, the way his body language becomes excited and energetic, how light and happy his words become. A completely different experience. That being said, KyuWon is naturally energetic- He gets up in the morning seeming totally refreshed and full of life. You can feel the pure energy that radiated off of him, be that good or bad. Thanks to this energy, he's always alert- He's always the first to notice when something if off, and he's always paying close attention to his surroundings. If something changes, KyuWon will know for sure. He can be considered a reliable person, he never flakes or backs out of anything. If you need someone to trust, KyuWon is your guy. His promises are forever. He's earnest, sincere and you can tell. He's serious with his convictions and is passionate about them.

With this reliability and earnest personality, he's very loyal. He sticks to one person in a relationship and has had the same friends for yeasr. However, this can be bad because once you earn his trust, you have it for life and it's easy to be a horrible person and step all over him, because he won't notice. KyuWon is easily blinded by his trust and loyalty to people, so it's not always positive. However, this does mean that the people who have his loyalty and trust can count on him. Kyuwon tends to be pretty damn sarcastic most days. He's the kind to roll his eyes and go, "Nooo, not at all." Doesn't matter who he's talking to, he just spits it out. He's very athletic, and lives and breathes sports (Mostly soccer and basketball), but since KyuWon is painfully athletic, he's the kind that will get seriously upset if he loses anything, much less a sports game. KyuWon can't deal if he loses.

When he does, he reacts badly. He's very reactive and tends to yell, groan, punch a wall, etc. whenever he gets into a situation that's "bad" to him. It's when he loses that he feels his lack of confidence a lot. It's always haunting him, creeping at just the back of his mind, reminding him how much everyone oesn't like him and how he's just not good enough...Then he loses and it takes his mind over. Because of this, KyuWon has become intolerant of others, particularly for their faults and weaknesses. He feels that is those he's teamed up with or knows are weak, that he'll be affected by it and he hates it. He doesn't deal with other's or tears for that matter. He's argumentative and will get into a fight over just about anything. KyuWon has a short fuse and he like to fight about things. If he's feeling like it, he'll start a fight just so he can argue because he likes it. The raise in blood pressure is thrilling to him. KyuWon loves it, really, even if during this arguements he's likely to become angry at the other person for a while. He tends to complain about, well, everything so it's not too hard to get someone else to start the fight either. It seems like that's all KyuWon does, complain. There's always something or another wrong and he makes sure everyone knows it. It's the worst. Not to mention, he's very strong-willed and never backs down, especially not from a fight. He is and always has been very set in his ways.

BACKGROUND : Born on a cool May morning, Kim KyuWon was set up to have a perfect little life. His mother and father were totally in love, his family had just enough money to spoil their kids just a little bit, and a beautiful older sister. However, quite a few years back, his father had an affair and got their neighbor pregnant. The family had moved away before anyone else found out, but when the neighbor came around demanding that he take the kid off her hands, his father had no choice to admit his mistakes and take Jonghyun in. There was tension in the family due to a half-sibling but KyuWon's mother only showed love for her husband's other child, never making him feel any less than her son. However, due to complications with her youngest son's delivery, she passed away the same day he was born. His elder sister, Chaewon, raised him from day one, and showed Jonghyun the same love her mother had.

She struggled a lot raising a newborn when she'd never cared for one before, not to mention a seven-year-old, but Chaewon managed. Her family still had a lot of money and she felt like her now drunkard father was never much of a problem- All he did was work and drink, never bothered them one bit. Some day two years later he was dead of alcohol poisoning, while Chaewon was in college. She had to hire a babysitter while she got her teaching degree and worked as a waitress. KyuWon was raised with love and happiness, though, knowing his older sister as "Umma." His parents' deaths never affected him and he had such a fun childhood. Jonghyun was a great older brother and cared for him when Chaewon was away or just too tired. He taught his baby half-brother how to cook, play with certain toys, and they'd sing loud duets together in the living room in their tiny, one bedroom house. He has good memories of those days.

When KyuWon entered school, he experienced a lot of meanness from other kids and work that he'd never had to do. When he was old enough to recognize how hard his siblings worked to care for him and each other, he quickly developed the same sense of responsibility and hard-working personality. While he also became a bit rougher thanks to the other kids, KyuWon was quicker to mature than others. He met his best friend, Lee Jaehyuk, in elementary school- The two haven't seperated since. He always did fairly alright in school, but KyuWon preferred to focus on his true passion even back then- Cooking. Once Jonghyun showed him, he fell in love and had such a natural talent for it. Chaewon spent a lot of her personally reserved money to buy him every ingredient and spice he could ever want. KyuWon was spoiled a bit but he knew reality, so he never asked for too much.

As an active child, KyuWon was always on his feet and at eleven years old this finally showed with his first case of Sever's disease- When the muscles and tendons can’t grow fast enough to keep up, they are stretched too tight and active children will put so much strain on their heels to the point of inflammation and pain. He didn't want to complain about it, so KyuWon kept his mouth shut until it became too severe- He was put in a cast to force his heel to rest. Once it healed he was back and playing like he used to. However, it reoccured many times until he was sixteen. There were multiple times he was put in a cast and was teased a lot in middle school, known as "The Cast Kid" but Jaehyuk was able to mostly shut that down when they entered high school. KyuWon was grateful for his friends Hyejin and Jieun who he met in middle school- They didn't care about his repetitive injury or diease, whatever you wanted to call it, and they became pretty close.

When graduation day came, KyuWon placed eleventh in his class- Good, but not great. He had started to work at a restaurant in his senior year, so when he attended college immediately, he ended up leaving after the first semester. He wanted to focus on making money to pay back his older siblings for everything they'd done for him. When he was made the head chef after only a few months of working, his coworkers became jealous and would talk about him behind his back- KyuWon didn't care, that was their problem. The owner likes him best anyway. KyuWon has been working there ever since that day in senior year and has made a good life for himself. He still lives with his older siblings and currently has no interest in romance. All KyuWon plasn for himself is to one day be a fairly well-known chef, while still based entirely in Jyeosaeng. He knows it might be impossible, but he truly has no drive to leave his hometown- He loves it there, after all.

who do you know?

RELATIONSHIPS :

▸ Older sister/Mother — Kim Chaewon (37) / Jyeosaeng High history teacher / Maternal, charismatic, protective, loquacious / 10-10
Chaewon is technically KyuWon's older sister, but she's raised him from the day he was born. His mother passed on the day of his birth, his father became a useless drunk who ended up dying of alcohol poisoning when he was two. Chaewon was seventeen when he was born and she is his mother. People call him a weirdo for calling his older sister "Umma" but that's what she is to him. She babies the hell out of him and their half-brother Jonghyun, and KyuWon only let's her because he knows how much she loves it. He'd prefer more space but for his precious Umma, he'd do anything. KyuWon would give his life for her without a question. She has given everything for him and he does really appreciate it. Umma saragheyo~ (FC: Kahi)

▸ Older brother — Kim Jonghyun (26, 27 in April) / Radio host (Jyeosaeng local channel) / Warm, romantic, stressed, unconfident / 10-10
Jonghyun raised KyuWon along with his half-sister Chaewon, and loves him to death. He never felt alienated from his half-siblings and loves them beyond belief. He feels as though he owes them his life, because without them he would have had no one growing up. KyuWon learned a lot of important things from Jonghyun, like the basics of cooking. While now Jonghyun's food is nothing to his, they used to hold cute little cooking competitions as children. Jonghyun is always touching KyuWon somehow if we're being honest- Holding his wrist, hugging him, holding his hand, brushing something off his face, fixing his hair, Jonghyun is lowkey like a second mother for him-- The two are extremely close and share everything with each other. They have a mutual, strong love for Chaewon and like to plan her cute little events. (FC: SHINee's Jonghyun)

Go the away ew why are you hugging me you weirdo poLICE HELP Er, we mean, his one and only best friend — Lee Jaehyuk (20) / Barista / Empathetic, charming, teasing, opinionated / 9-10
He can just die, seriously. Wouldn't mind, KyuWon doesn't even know this guy-- Ahem. KyuWona nd Jaehyuk have known each other for years, and basically Jaehyuk is the clingy, skinship-y, let-me-annoy-the-hell-out-of-you friend while KyuWon takes it all without thought and punches his arm. Every time. Jaehyuk calling him "Kyute" gets more than one punch often. Despite their seemingly-bad relationship, these two are hella close and would trust the other with their life. It's kind of amazing, how they can go from so playful yet annoyed to understanding and empathetic when it's a serious situation. They were known as the lookers in high school because, c'mon, you know Jaehyuk is charming as hell. Though he has a lot of opinions about a lot of things, his empathy, teasing personality and natural charm really attract people. KyuWon just scoffs. (FC: KNK's Heejun)

▸ Close friends — Kim Jieun + Son Hyejin (22+21) / College students / (Jieun) Athletic, easy-going, dramatic, sensitive || (Hyejin) Bubbly, humorous, protective, anxious / 8-10
Jieun and Hyejin are KyuWon's other friends, and they met in middle school. The three are often seen going out shopping or eatingout together. Jieun and Hyejin have been dating fora while, and it's all thanks to KyuWon. They're the kind of friends you'd call up suddenly to see or just complain mututally about how much life . Jieun is best for ranting while Hyejin is best for practical advice and comfort, so the two are a pretty great tag-team. Honestly they're in love with KyuWon's food, they probably love it more than they love him whoops-- Ahem. Anyways, the three are very good friends! Lots of love and happiness to spread around. (Jieun's FC: Seunghee of CLC, yellow || Hyejin's FC: Yujin of CLC, black and white)

▸ Regular — Oh Seolhee (20) / Supermarket employee / Clever, understanding, curious, unconvincing / 5-10
Seolhee is a regular- Along with her mother- At the restaurant he works at, Coast to Coast. You think it'd be seafood or food from all over or something but it's just traditional Korean foods, from the past to now. Seolhee loves the food and therefore constantly compliments KyuWon, but they're not close or anything. He simply recognizes her as Oh Seolhee who likes his food, and her mother runs that well-known boutique. They greet each other if they happen to pass by, but overall they're very neutral with each other. Of course more on the pleasant side. Maybe later on, something important will bring them together...? Or maybe not. (FC: OMG's Jiho)

what do you think?

Do you believe in the jyeosaeng ghosts? :

▸ "Of course I do! You can't grow up here not hearing about them and after a while, you really start to believe it." KyuWon tugged at his empty piercing a bit. "I've seen a few of them around before but I've never really interracted with them, you know? But I think it'd be cool to!"

Do you think the ghosts are creatures to fear? :

KyuWon shook his head with an eye roll. "Why would they be? They're stuck on this stupid Earth even after death, so aren't they probably sad about it or something? Our ghosts have never really caused problems so unless I'm given a reason to, I won't ever fear them." He crossed his arms with a stubborn expression. "They've done nothing wrong!"

What does jyeosaeng mean to you?  :

▸ "Home." He spoke sincerely and honestly. "This is where I'm happy, even if people tell me I'll grow out of it someday and it won't be as great as I think it is. Jyeosaeng..." His voice became softer, more emotional and sensitive. "Jyeosaeng is the place where everything and everything has ever happened to me. I could never leave it for good."

if you died today, would you be able to move on from this life? :

▸ "Yes. There's nothing to hold me back- Nothing I wanted to do so badly or didn't get to say or wanted to see. I'm living my life on impulse to a point and that way, I can die without any regrets. I know the spirits here must be restless and I don't want that for myself or my family..." KyuWon trailed off uncomfortably and pullled at his earlobe again.

SPIRIT : Bus Stop /Look Both Ways
NAME OF SPIRIT : Lim, Hyemi (임혜미)

FACECLAIM : Bae, Yoo Bin (Binnie of Oh My Girl/OMG)

BACKUP FACECLAIM : Choi, Yuna (Yuju of GFriend/Yeojachingu)

DEATHDATE : 1990

PERSONALITY :
▸ (+) Intelligent, alert, charming, organized
▸ (-) Wasteful, quiet, overly serious, over-protective

▸ Hyemi was always considered to be a very charming person. Her aura was very clean and clear, so everyone was nnaturally attracted to her, they just wanted to be near her. Her smile could have someone's attention in an instant, and it was this way with nearly everyone she met. Hyemi used it to her advantage but never to a bad degree and simply enjoyed herself. She's very intelligent, and in multiple ways. Be it street smart, book smart, this girl has all types of knowledge under her belt. She thrives on knowing things and loves to learn more than anything in this world. Keeping organized is a close second- Every day, event, and aissignment was carefully planned and executed with everything in it's place. She never took it to an extreme but a healthy medium and so she always did well in school. Hyemi was always alert to her surroundings. She was always so focused on her environment that she was the first to know when something changed, something went wrong. In her life Hyemi had a tendancy to use things wastefully. It didn't bother her if she squandered money or didn't finish her exprensive food. She did what she wanted. She was always over-protective of her friends and younger brother, making sure all their friends and significant others could be checked off as goood enoguh people and protecting them from those that weren't. She was intruisive to a degree but everyone could unfortunately agree she was just trying to look out for them. Hyemi was serious at all times and that seriously threw people off. She took life, school, and relationships with a too serious outlook, too logical at times. Over the course of years she's calmed down a bit, less uptight but she used to be serious about every detail and word. She was quiet and didn't often express her opinion or herself loudly. She prefered to keep her thoughts and presence to herself unless the situation called for otherwise.

BACKGROUND :

▸ Hyemi was born and raised in Jyeosaeng by her mother, father, and younger brother Insik. Her life was simple and enjoyable, with enough money to get by but do fun thigns as a family, with good grades and a serious outlook on life. She was always told to loosen up by her friends and family, but she'd just give a small smile and nod, but never took their words to heart. She had a few close friends in her lifetime, and that was all she needed. Hyemi was kind in her own way, and with her secret love of animals she would volunteer from the time she was fourteen at pet adoption events and animal shelters. She spent her allowance on food and supplies for the strays, sneaking them into her closet in the cold winter nights. When she was in middle school, her younger brother yound out, but surprinsgly, Insik wasn't going to tell- He said he wanted to help her. The two became very close through their own secret "animal home."

▸ She was well-liked by most all of her teachers for turning in good work every time, on time. Her classmates either likes her, tolerated her, or ignored her which Hyemi was perfectly alright with. She spent her time writing research papers, believe it or not- That's what she liked to do with her time. At heart she was a sweet, shy person but no one saw through to that part of her. Hyemi alreways found that regratable, that no one knew who she really was. After graduating high school, she decided to go to college and major in Korean. She wanted to do something different than she had been- She wanted to use her major and become a reporter, an investigative journalist. She had a keen eye and her teachers encouraged her as they were certain she could do it. Lim Hyemi could certainly brave the investigations no one else could, she could find out knews that would otherwise go unknown and she could easily change the world with the kind of person and drive she had to make a difference in the later years of her life.

▸ Imagine their shock when the fate of their former student, poor Lim Hyemi hit the news. Only a year after graduating high school, she was attending college, working at the major she wanted, and lived in her own apartment. Great, wonderful, so what had gone wrong in her misshappen yet somehow still cookie cutter life? What could have possibly made it on the knews? At age nineteen, Lim Hyemi had a bad head cold- The kind that made you drowsy and your head heavy, your eyes water and face feel all stuffed up and nasty. Lim Hyemi wanted to go buy herself some medicine (Hers was all expired, you know!) and head out by bus to her college campus for another normal day at school. So, our normally alert Hyemi began to walk across the stree to the bus stop, but with that kind of head cold you really can't notice, even the screaming of the other pedestrians doesn't register until the pain of a car crushing you, hurting you and leaving you in such pain you couldn't breath- As if you could have breathed with that head cold anyway. Lim Hyemi slipped away on the pavement that fateful day, and even in her pain-clouded mind a few thoughts prevailed, "I'm not done." "I wasn't done." "No one will remember me like this." No one listened. Lim Hyemi, nineteen years old, a Korean major with a head cold, died.

▸ Since her fateful accident, she's been watching the street with every bit of focus she has ever had. Any animal or person that comes in the way of a car, she moves to the bus stop. No one deserved to hurt that much. No one deserved to have their livfe ripped away from them so suddenly, so cruely. Jyeosaeng didn't need any more ghosts anyway. It wasn't until twenty-seven years after her death that Lim Hyemi's fate began to shift and change. It all started when she saved a mister Kim KyuWon from being hit by a car as he crossed the street. Suddenly, the ordinary wasn't ordinary anymore, but Hyemi didn't know that.

INTERACTIONS :

▸ After their first meeting, KyuWon just wanted to meet this spirit again. Never had one interacted directly with him before, and he was curious. Not to mention, she had saved his life. So, taking a day off of work he jogged to the bus stop and wiated there all day long. Hyemi was hesitant and didn't show herself, but he wasn't concerned. He would show up whenevre he could for as long as he could, until Hyemi finally interacted with him. They hav a very simple, clean relationship- They're naturally curious about each other and their lives. They're often asking each tother questions and trying to learn about how things were for their lovely ghost or human friend. They can trust each other, that's no doubt, and they do divulge very important secrets. KyuWon and Hyemi have a fairly mature relationship, actually, and she doesn't often give into his habit of picking fights. She thinks it's adorable how hard he tries to start and argument but doesn't say so- KyuWon kind of knows but refuses to admit it. It's not too long before the two realize they can relate on a lot of things, and they become very close. Hyemi sincerely admires KyuWon's talent in precision- His calligraphy and dishes show how much precision and care he has for what he does and she thinks that's pretty awesome. KyuWon thinks she's the awesome one, though, because it can't be easy being dead and stuck where she is. Hyemi insists it's not that bad, but he can feel her loneliness. Things are very platonic and normal.

▸ Until Hyemi finds herself blushing (How can she do that she has no blood right--) when he smiles at her and notices how fast her heart races when he pushes back a srand of her hair or laughs without abandon. She realized that her admiration had transformed into something much depper- An attraction, something she might be able to call love. They'd met so long ago and he cared about her so much even despite their different circumstances...She figured she'd have to live- Die- Whatever with it for as long as she existed, but KyuWon was just good at hiding his own feelings. He's never really experienced anything beyond puppy crushes in grade and middle school, but it wasn't hard to identify. Lim Hyemi was the girl he'd been waiting for all these years of his life, but she was also a dead girl. That posed complications, but he was confident she shared his interest, if her blushing and occasional staring had anything to say. He began to with more-than-friendly but not quite romantic touches and gestures, say things that could mean one thing or another, just to make sure his confidence wasn't misplaced- It wasn't. KyuWon figured Jonghyun or Chaewon could carry on the family name, because damn him if he wasn't going to kiss and hold this lovely woman right by his side.

▸ He confessed, shyly but with poise, and she was shocked. She did mention that, hey, I'm dead, but he stubbornly replied with, "Do you think I didn't know that? I'm being honest. I like you. Don't you think that love can overcome any type of boundry in the end?" Hyemi accepting his confession with a hesitant heart, making him promise that if them being a couple would get in the way of his life and growth that they would definitely have to break things off, stay simply friends. KyuWon smiled and agreed.
