----

she laid there staring at the crisp white walls that almost seemed to ridicule her. it stared back among the sounds of soft ticking from a nearby clock. the air squeezed the remaining amounts of moisture left in the room and pushed cold air against her skin. goosebumps sneak up her leg as they make their way up the spine and around every curve of her body.

shuffle. rustle. shift.

she turns to her side almost mimicking as if she fell from a building above. her eyes flutter shut, blanket awry. a small yawn escapes followed by tears forming at the brim of her shut eyes.

one. two. three. four. five.

seconds pass by, that soon turn into minutes and hours. still awake in the depths of the dark, brain alert and working. muscles tense and jaws clenched.

why?

brain waves sent signals which led her to think. out of all the times, why is it now that she felt lonely. eyes fluttering open, the white walls caved in and suffocated her. she couldnt breathe from the little prick of pain that coursed through her briefly. at times like these, the smallest amount of pain begins to form into the biggest pain.

alone.

looking left and right, there was no one there. only the white walls that became her archenemy. lifting her right arm she reached out into the vast space, only reaching out to grab air. yearning for something, something she couldnt quite understand herself. a match that is waiting to be lit. feelings that are yet to be explored.
