레드 ◇ a nickname created by sim jinhyung (yes the leader sim jinhyung) on the basis that her favourite colour is red, she's always had some red dyed in her hair and her aura and energy just screams red. seolji is the colour red personified. with him having been the leader's son as a child, jinhyung had access to a whole variety of things. one day, he stumbled upon a book which taught the english name for colours. he learnt them and it wasn't long after that the two of them met. JINHYUNG HAS CALLED seolji 'RED' for as long as they've known each other.

a splash of bright red ◇ as you may be able to tell, seolji's hair is red. now, what started as just a streak or two as a child has turned into a whole head of the bright and dangerously blinding red. combined with a devilish grin, seolji's appearance is a force to be reckoned with.

background:
half of a whole, a whole half ◇ born on august 28 in the year 200 a.n., jung seolji exited her mother's womb a whole 12 minutes before her twin sister, jung chaewon. what prompted jung yongso and lee yehyun to choose seolji over chaewon was not an immediate emotional attachment, nor was it based on which of the two girls ceased to cry first, as other mothers in the same situation often do. it was due to her being the older one and the weak belief that she'd show more promise when it came to leadership and intelligence. in any case, the moment the designated offical entered the room, all yongso and yehyun were allowed to do was name their children and say their goodbyes to the one that they were casting aside. it was an incredibly bittersweet moment; welcoming one child into the family whilst being forced to get rid of the other. and boy oh boy, neither parent knew what they were getting themselves into when they chose seolji.
a red butterfly trapped in a cage ◇ even as a child, seolji was not one to sit still. she felt confined by all the rules that the society laid out and always yearned to be free. the books and information that yongso was granted did not do anything to douse the flame that was already growing in her heart. with the aim to keep her satisfied with where she was in society, yongso would allow her to read these books. he wanted her to dream but only in the safety of their home. unfortunately for him, these novels and biographies didn't do what he hoped. they only fueled her flame, giving her ideas about what more she could do with her life.
learning to live, living to learn ◇ with her father being a court official, her family was considered to be quite wealthy and well off. they had a high social rank and seolji was sent to attend a school with others who were in a similar position to her. it was there that she first began to do instead of dream. history classes were her favourite, where she'd learn about the world before the nuclear experiment. from planes to enormous buildings, seolji wanted to experience the world that she narrowly missed out on. she would sneak out after curfew just to watch the stars in the pitch black sky. of course, when her parents couldn't find her, they'd send out people to look for her. this would be considered a crime if someone of lower status did what she did and was caught, but due to her family's high ranking, she was exempted. with no actual punishment, nothing really stopped her from continuing to do as she pleased.

yongso and seolji are, without a doubt, closer than yehyun and seolji are. he's got a soft spot for his little princess and though he does want to know what his other daughter would've been like, he knows that he's got to make the most of what he's got. so, he loves seolji dearly and always allows her to listen in on whatever the current issue in court is and takes her opinions into account. he always buys books for her and would do anything just to make her smile.

SEOLJI AND HER MOTHER, YEHYUN, HAVE ALWAYS HAD A SOMEWHAT STRAINED RELATIONSHIP. YEHYUN IS SUPER STRICT AND PROTECTIVE OVER SEOLJI SINCE SHE DOESN'T WANT TO LOST ANOTHER DAUGHTER, AND IT IS ALSO BECAUSE THAT LOST DAUGHTER IS A TWIN THAT YEHYUN CAN'T LOOK AT SEOLJI PROPERLY in the eye WITHOUT FEELING INCREDIBLY OVERWHELMED AND SAD SINCE SHE COULD'VE HAD ANOTHER DAUGHTER WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HER. the two first met when yongso was bringing his daughter in to work for a day and dohyung was bringing in his son. the two hit it off with their love for history and dare-to-dream attitudes. his nickname for her is 'red', based on her favourite colour and hair colour while she just calls him by his name (+ oppa). things are completely platonic between the pair since all the two really want is a friend who understands their interests and likes and doesn't judge them for it.

pilot ◇ seolji dreams to one day fly a plane. the first book of her father's that she ever read was a book about planes & she just loved it.
