I Liked FT Island's song better than EXO's, but EXO had a better MV.

Why am I comparing the 2? They uploaded their MV/song just around the same day.

I don't want to start any fan wars, alright? I'm very ignorant. Let me give you some background what I think about k-pop first. And we all know that EXO hasn't fully debuted, but seriously SM? Can you stop making ing teasers and prologues and get to the damn point?

Okay, obviously, I'm a kpop fan and I will support groups no matter what, even if they're rookie, or even if they're the tiest band on earth. However, call me a hypocrite, but I barely listen to k-pop rookie groups, or even that, k-pop groups alone (I prefer underrated artists). But don't worry, I still listen to the new MVs that are coming out and stuff! (3/4 of the new songs don't even appeal to me anymore lol). I prefer classic k-pop groups that debuted before 2010 rather than the new groups now.

OKAY ANYWAYS,

So I'm listening to Exo's prologue... and honestly... I thought it was okay. But some parts of the song just started to sound messy and when the singers held their note while singing... they autotuned the verbrato (that's what it's called, right? I'm not a singer, I wouldn't know.) which made it sound like somewhat I glitch. I prefer natural singing, or if you use autotune, use it wisely and not on something simple like a verbrato. It was OKAY, the song wasn't very good in my opinion, but for rookies, I have to admit; they. have. art. The MV? I loved the whole nature-scene and everything. That wowed me alot. But the song itself made me kind of laugh.

Song: 5.5/10
MV: 8/10

Like I've stated above, I'm a classic k-pop group fan. So this post is a totally biased post and I would obviously go for the group that stayed longer in the industry than one who's still working on their actual debut. But nonethless, I kept the same expectations for both of them before I saw it. But to be honest, I liked FT Island's song more. It was quite unique, and nothing makes me smile more than Hongki's voice (I'm a straight guy, I swear to god.). The video looked like a huge mixture of dramas and MVs these days. For instance, in MBLAQ's "It's War (FAVORITE SONG OF 2012!)", Joon shot himself, making his girlfriend sitting in regret. In JYJ's "In Heaven", Junsu steps out of his way to jump in front of a girl just to save her life from a reckless driver. What do you get when you mix the 2? A regretful carcrash. Call me horrid, but when Hongki got hit by the car, I laughed. They I realized what happened and I was yelling at my computer. Nonetheless, everything was cute in there though. The outfits, the hair, the acting, the plot, but it seemed really.... redundant.

Song: 8/10
MV: 6/10

Okay, there's my opinion. Don't hate, I'm ignorant and I probably won't give a on what you're saying.

So I stumbled upon this post randomly and decided to click on it because FT Island was mentioned alongside Exo in the title; which is such a strange comparison.
I agree with most of what you said actually. To be honest, despite being a HUGE FT Island fan and a HUGE fan of Hongki acting, the MV...was disappointing. The whole-crash-dying thing is too overdone for my liking. The song and the album was a piece of art though.
As for exo... hmmm.
The song was okay. Nothing special really...I'm hoping their official debut will be more... interesting? And the MV? I didn't like it. It was honestly not very...new or unique to me and I was pretty bored by about a third of the way through. I also agree with the stuff you said about the auto-tuned vibrato. Sounded...weird. Vibrato is NOT meant to be autotuned.
ANYWAYS...I tend to rant a lot so I couldn't resist when I saw the name of my bias group in the title.
So...yeah.
Cya now. ^^
