birthnameKim Sooah (김수아)

nicknames

— Troublemaker; When Sooah was in school, she oftentimes was late or broke rules. Considering the state of South Korea at the time, this was a pretty bad thing but she never let it get to her. The staff and students not in her grade called her so.

— The Snowflake Ghost; Sooah is known as the Snowflake ghost because during the winter season she leaves a paper snowflake with the words "You can do it!" on the desks of students having a hard time, be it in school or in their personal life (She likes to listen in to conversations).

— The Girl on the Second Floor; The second floor of the school is Sooah's favorite place to be, when school is out of session. Students who stay late can often see her walking around, sometimes right in front of them, others in the corner of their eye.

appearance

— Sooah is a simple 165 cm and 52 kg, very healthy and very normal. Her looks were never considered particularly outstanding, with an oval shaped face and monolids. She was, however, fairly shapely with B, nearly C-cup s, small waist, and bigger hips. Her skin is tanner, still pale, but a bit tanner than many. Sooah's lips were a fairly unique feature, a very tiny and shaped upper lip with a large and unshaped bottom lip- Always a natural pale pink. Her nose is considered to be on a larger scale and flat, but overall is fairly proportionate to the rest of her. She took particularly good care of her hair, keeping it long, soft, and healthy. Her hair was always a great pride.

outfit

— Sooah wears the outfit she was buried in- Courtesy of her older sister, she dresses in black tights, a black skirt four inches above her knees, a fancy-ish white blouse, long white jacket, and a blue overcoat- Paired with lovely black boots. Totally dressed for winter, and totally amazing. Sooah kind of wishes she wore something else nowadays, but it's not like she can change it, right?
OR she wears this plain white dress and some sandals. I like them both...I feel the first fits more but...Up to you~~

personality

twinkle twinkle bright and high
turned into a robin, died
still she twinkles bright and sighs
can't you see she never lied?

— Generally a lovely, bright person, Sooah tried not to change much after dying. She died with few regrets which makes it very curious as to why she stayed. Sooah was always the kind to help those in need but not ever really a general goody-two-shoes. She sometimes struggled sticking to her morals and not giving up everything, because her family wasn't particularly rich all the time...Sometimes dying sounded easier, but with the help of her sister and friends she was always able to keep moving again. Since dying she has become quieter, less outspoken and much less like the twinkle lights on a Christmas tree. Instead she prefers to show her support quietly, kindly. Sooah loves to tease people, however, and is always up for a round of banter. She sometimes gets too intense with her criticisms. She always liked to ignore the things that really had to be done, and surely still does. Sooah likes to break rules, though, never timely, never doing her homework, sleeping when she should have been doing something, she was kind of a brat and still is. She is inconsistent with her work ethic, focusing more on her passion of decorating things than putting work into school, chores, etc. Voted most likely to interact with the stray cat by the Ghost Class 2011, aka ghosts who have since passed on in 2011 since I guess they got their stuff together. Strange year, a lot of them left. Also by the idiots hunting ghosts but you know, it just proves she really likes cats.

background

— Sooah was the oldest daughter and child of a family of four- A year after her birth, her younger sister Sohyun was born. The two girls grew up very close, often making little trinkets to sell in the market to help make money for their family. They often struggled with money but despite being the oldest, Sooah never felt responsible to help make ends meet- No, she did it to entertain little Sohyun. Sooah was friends with all her neighbors, even the boys, which made their parents suspicious. She was liked overall, though, and she took great pride in that. From the time she was young, Sooah loved to make things. She loved to decorate her home and make things beautiful. She had a keen eye for interior designing, but no one really cared- Except for Sohyun, of course. It was Sohyun who would steal art supplies from school to gift to her older sister. Sooah never questioned where she got it all from. She herself would occasionally steal a little bite of food from here and there, only when she was really hungry- And if asked, she'd admit to taking it, and then go on with her "poor, hungry girl" routine she worked out. She definitely grew out of that one.

— Their parents were somewhat close to them, their mother moreso, but never enough to share secrets- That is, in the rare event that Sooah had one. She liked telling the truth more than a lie, and that's why her death ended up being so traumatizing to her. But of course her death doesn't matter right now- What does matter is how happy Sooah was. She genuinely did enjoy living her life, even if she was poor at times and wasn't the best daughter or student someone could ask for. She loved to sneak away to play in rivers and streams, water being one of her favorite playthings. Sooah questioned why she was alive some days as she got into her teenage years, like many, but found her purpose in her art, sister, and friends. Her friend in high school would truly have been her friends for life. The day before her death, Sooah spent the whole day after school making paper snowflakes to string around her house. It was so fun, especially when Sohyun joined in. Sooah laughed a lot that day.

death

Sooah died on a fairly cold day, 2 degrees Celsius, while it was windy and frosty. There was a little lake, one that she would often play by. It was very early morning- One a.m., maybe, when she snuck out of the house to go see the moon at her favorite, iced over lake.

She dressed warmly, even taking the warmest blanket in the house to wrap around her as she stayed there for an hour. After her allotted hour was up and her face felt as though it was going to freeze off, Sooah went home and slept until it was time to get up for school.

As always, Sohyun woke her up, shaking her head with an unamused expression- She'd heard Sooah leaving that morning. A sheepish grin to her sister, the teen got ready quickly and left the house, sister in tow. After dropping her off at the middle school, she ran to her own school, already late.

She of course completed the required punishment and went to class. She whispered to her friends and ignored what the teacher was reading aloud and had a very normal day. That was all the normalcy she'd get for the rest of her life, though.

Later that afternoon, Sooah noticed Sohyun hadn't come home yet. She sat, pondering on her sister's absence for a time before a knock at her door came. She answered, surprised to find Sohyun with the police- She'd been caught stealing, but blamed it on Sooah who had "made her."

Of course, the elder immediately denied- She never asked Sohyun to steal for her, she did it of her own free will! How could she turn on her like this?

The police, well aware of Sooah's tendency to break rules, believed the younger. Sooah couldn't admit to something she hadn't done-

That would be lying.

It was all very emotional, a lot of yelling and Sooah could simply not handle it. She ran out of her house, to the lake she really loved, and cried. It was freezing. Really freezing and the icy wind bit at her face.

Then, Sooah saw a very pretty bird. She was fascinated- Wasn't he cold? She stared at the bird for a long time before realizing it was beyond time to go back home. Still horribly upset and crying, she began to make the trudge back to her home.

It's quite unfortunate she got lost.

Countless times had she made the journey to and from her home, and this time, she got lost. Not having eaten in a few days- After all, they were at another poor spell again- She felt weak. Unbelievably so. When it began to snow that night as she wandered, lost, in the middle of nowhere, she began to realize how serious her situation was.

It was probably eleven that night when the snow became so bad she could hardly see in front of her- That's why she fell into her lake, the ice breaking under her weight. If she'd seen, she'd have known not to step there, onto the ice, but she couldn't so she made the fatal mistake.

Sooah drowned in freezing cold water and wasn't found for a few weeks, until Sohyun finally pointed to her sister's "secret place."

binding

What could ever keep poor Kim Sooah from moving on? The fact that everyone thought she lied, the fact that her sister would lie to keep out of trouble and instead shift blame towards her elder sister.

She, who never lied.

That kind of betrayal was too hurtful, too sad to her. Sooah was always a kind of sensitive person.

Of course, you can't forget the nature of her death, either, the panic of being lost and how stiff her fingers were from the cold and how much drowning in cold water hurts.

twinkle twinkle, bright and high
turned into a robin, died
still she twinkles bright and sighs
can't you see she never lied?

Sooah. Didn't. Lie.

That was enough to keep her here.

relationships

Kim Sohyun. Younger sister. December 8th, 1976. Currently: Florist. Sohyun and Sooah were, as previously described, close in life. After Sooah's body was recovered, Sohyun began to live with a great sense of guilty- She just hadn't wanted to get in trouble, she didn't mean for anything to go too badly...It took a long time and a lot of people to convince Sohyun to forgive herself. Now forty, married with three kids, Sohyun has just moved back to Seoul from Incheon and works as a florist. She has never admitted to anyone that she lied that night, including to her husband. She feels if she did so, she'd lose something of her past...

Hong Jihwan. Sunbae in school, hoobae in dying. June 1st, 1973. Currently: Dead. Jihwan and Sooah went to high school together for a few short months before her passing. They actually met once before Sooah died, at the start of the new year. Both were late to school and had to deal with the punishment together. It pretty much , and Sooah only offered a few whispers to him but at least they were in it together. Sooah liked Jihwan's eyes, but easily forgot about him a few weeks later. She still doesn't remember, though she gets a strange feeling when she sees her fellow Geumjanhwa-ghost.

why do you haunt geumjanhwa high school?

— "Geumjanhwa was where I spent most of my time!" Sooah pulled at her hair a little, "It's not a bad place to haunt for sure! I hope that someone will find out the truth, though~~ Maybe if I'm nice long enough, someone will look into what happened to me? It's those kinds of thoughts, really."

do you ever go anywhere else?

— "I like to visit the local market- I just walk around, looking at all the stuff I want to buy! Technology sure has advanced since I was alive...Whassit called, a MePhony or something? It sounds cool!" (T/N: Iphone)

when you were still alive, what did you want to do after high school?

— "I would have gotten married and had kids. That's what was expected of me, and that's what I wanted."

if you ever pass on, where do you think you're going to go?

— "Hm~ Nowhere! I think I'll probably just disappear. It would be nice, though, if I could be reborn as a human and try again. I don't think I got what I deserved!"

what's one thing you wish you could've done while you were alive?

— She giggled shyly, "Kissed Kim Kibum, the guy two grades older than me. I really would have liked to kiss him, he was my first real crush..."
