I hate group projects

It's that time again that school decides that some of our finals should be dealt with in groups. You should all know how much I LOVE group projects.

I am being tried again. She tried it. She attempted, BUT she shall fail.

So, I have this project with some friends I met this year at Uni and our project was to test the longevity of roses in different solutions.

So my friend and I went out to buy flowers, plant food, and made makeshift vases.

That was my friends F's "partcipation" in the group. When it came down to the actual presentation portion of it. The other two girls did 4-5 slides each and I had a total of 10 slides, which were 9 pictures of the flowers each day with notes on them and one slide discussing the enviromental exchange, which was the temperature and sunlight it received.

F, all she had to do was three slides. THREE SLIDES. But she passed off the Work Cited page to me!

Let me pull out our conversation: I'll abbreviate their names.

IN GROUP TEXT:

K: Has anyone done research for articles yet?

Me: Oh !

K: We need at least three

J: No, Dang it. I hate research!

K: Who volunteers? lol

Me: F does xD (HINTING THAT SHE SHOULD DO SOMETHING)

Me: I found a good article about the ingredients in the generic plant food. Apparently they contain bleach. Thank you Buzzfeed!

F: Yeah. I'll do it later tonight/tomorrow. Andy, what have you done besides put the pictures up? (SHE TRIED IT)

Me: I did the experimental exchange and post up one article.

Private message from last night from F (Reminder, F is a friend I made in the beginning of the year whom I hung out with almost every single day with)

F: Hey, sorry if I was an earlier. I've been at work since 12 and it put me in a horrible mood and doing homework as I get home from a long day was the last thing I wanted to do.

Me: You made it seem like I did absolutely NOTHING towards this project!

F: That's how you made me feel when you volunteered me to J and K. I didnt know if you were joking but I felt the same way

(UH, CAUSE YOU DIDNT DO !?!?!?)

TEXT FROM THIS MORNING:

F: Do you want to switch with me in the presentation? I know how much you hate presenting in front of people. I don't mind either way.

Me: What do you mean switch?

F: Dont you have more slides to present?

Me: Yeah, I have 10.

F: Whut? lol. I dont even know how many I have.

Me: You have TWO.

F: What if I do 4 of your slides so we both have 6? Since I have two, equality lol

At this point, I am so peeved off. Basically she is trying to use my social anxiety as a way for her to use my slides so it seems like she has done something.

Me: I'll make you a deal lol. If you finish the two work cited parts then I will give you 4 of my slides to present.

F: I dont even want your slides, I was just trying to be nice. Dang, lend out your hand and they take your arm.

Me: Then dont take them.

F: Ok.

I discussed this with my mom and another friend to get two different perspectives on if I was overacting and if I did my fair share. Although she is my friend, I am not going to let it slide because she chose not to do . I was there after we finished setting the flowers up, I can quote her words " J and K can do the rest. I've done my share".

I would totally go off on her and tell her that she hasn't done jack , but I have two classes with her next semester so I rather not start just yet.

Idk, what do you all think?

I can't even finish reading what you wrote. Damn i thought nobody ever have that kind of friend in a group project. I kinda have the same experience as you, maybe worse because she didn't contribute like fkin anything in the presentation slides. It's kinda made me flippin our at first, but then i finished it with my other friend~ sooo just let it be, nothing you can do to make her change, just find somebody else for the future group project :")

She should think and be more considerate towards others as well . Its called group work for a reason.

DUDE I FEEL YOU! This happened to me during physics class in Junior year and my French class in senior year. So me and my bff divided the work equally to all 4 group memebers. Also me and my bff volunteered to speak through the whole presentation during our physics class cause we know that the other two are somewhat not that knowledgeable about the topic and pretty sure that they didn't actually read through the stuff they put in their slides (it was pretty obvious it was copy pasted). Here's the part that actually pissed me off! This one girl effing copied some of my info and put it as her slide. She even sent us the info she got like 3 in the morning! So on the day of the presentation I have academic lab (extra hour to do hw or what ever you wanna do) before my physics class. I checked our presentation to make sure everything is okay. I found out that this girl didn't do her reaearch right and I had to delete all her stuff because it was all wrong! I had to do a lot of BS-ing and lots of fast reading!

I understand how frustrated and peeved you must have been! That is not overreacting at all

Dude, that's so not overreacting. It's 100% justified. If there's some sort of input you could tell the professor, tell them that your partners did no at all. I usually force people to work by either breathing down their neck or yelling at them. Makes them dislike me, but we gotta do what we gotta do.
