First Lines of My Stories

So I'm stealing this rather fascinating idea from -Tigress- who snagged it from HeadToToesLove. Let the hook sentences begin!

*As a side note, I am not adding the first lines from oneshot collections.

I Will Always Protect You - Eunhyuk had been dancing for over an hour already when he was interrupted by three young men who regarded him with annoyance at seeing him in the practice room they obviously wished to use instead.

If I Don't Say It Now... - Two figures huddled over the desk as they peered down at the scribbled on scrap of paper, illuminated by the lamp angled to shine directly on their hastily scrawled words, though the room was plenty lit enough.

I'll Be Home Soon - Leeteuk looked over at the clock on his desk.

Through the Ages (Two-Shot) - “Don’t leave!” he yelled, reaching desperately for Yunho who was poised to exit out the door.

Descendants of Angels - “Grandpa Teuk,” the little boy of about six years of age, sitting on his lap looked up and tugged on his shirt to get his attention.

No One Just Walks Away - “No one just walks away,” Leeteuk muttered standing in the doorway in the fading light of day, holding his ribs tightly with his less injured arm while he glared at the blonde young man across from him.

I'm Just Tired - “What’s wrong, baby?” the chestnut haired beauty asked his partner, sitting down on the couch next to the slender blonde, one leg folded on the cushions and brushing against Eunhyuk’s thigh.

Lost and Found - With a gusty sigh, Luna paused to lean against the trunk of the nearest tree and scratched her head in puzzlement, glancing around at the forest which looked the same in every direction.

Hot For Teacher - Kyuhyun stifled a yawn as he leaned back in his seat and eyed the textbook in front of him from behind his black rimmed glasses.

The Naughty Professor - Another day, another lecture and another session of instructing at the front of the class while that boy continued to chew on his pen…like he always did.

The Frustrated Professor - With the end of exams over, the pair had begun officially/unofficially dating and while Jungsu was bogged down with rushing to finish grading the rest of his classes, Kyuhyun was happily finished with his.

Always There - “You know.  When I said I’d always be there for you, I didn’t exactly mean to keep loaning you money when have such a knack for losing it,” Jinki shook his head with a long suffering sigh as he handed an envelope of bills to his long-time friend Jonghyun.

Murphy's Law - Amber was halfway through her shift at work and things still had not improved from her morning as she dropped her second tray in the past hour.

The Dangers of Losing -   “Seriously?” Byunghun murmured in annoyance as he peered into the nearly empty fridge, lamenting the low grumbling in his stomach.

Through the Ages - Bored, he looked over his shoulder at the analog clock on the wall, roman numerals indicating the time to be just half past nine…

Can I Help You, Sir? - “Will there be anything else, sir?” Jungsu politely asked with the serving tray extended in front of him while he waited for his employer to take the steaming mug of tea.

'A' For Effort: Happy Ending Included - Coming off the second twenty four hour shift in three days was always the hardest part of the week for Yongguk and it was even worse that it happened to be on the day for two of Himchan’s finals at the end of the semester.

Be Careful What You Wish For - Himchan heard the door open later in the evening and he picked his head up from reading the book he’d been going over, black framed glasses perched on his nose to help him focus as he studied.

Loss of Order - “Hurry.  Hurry,” Leeteuk hissed, ushering the six persons ahead of him forward.

From the Shadows - The shadows...

A Woman Scorned - The shop was busy as always, making Chaerin smile as she walked the floor with the rest of her employees, greeting customers and making sure things were running smoothly.

They Walk Among Us - “That one’s mine, Yesung!  Give it back,” Luna cried jumping up to reach for the tiny unicorn figurine held aloft by the taller dark haired male.

Sensual Choreography - The sound of sneakers squeaking on the smooth wooden floor rose above the pounding beat of the music that vibrated through their dancing bodies, directing their next steps as they watched each other and themselves in the room filled with mirrors.

Carnal Desire - It was hard to say who lamented the lack of a vehicle more on their mad run back to the dorms from the practice studio.

Protected Little Panda - Training, training and more training.

A Serendipitous Cancellation - Stifling a yawn, Chanyeol leaned back in the slightly uncomfortable seat he was currently reclining in, long legs extended out before him with his knees partially open.

Demon in the Woods - “Alright, Jongin.  Time fer bed, honey,” his mother reminded him, combing her fingers through his soft, chocolate locks and gesturing towards his narrow bed with her other hand.

Impromptu Rescue -  Chewing his bottom lip thoughtfully, Insoo glanced under the edge of his straight black bangs into the partially full basket hanging from his wrist before his eyes traveled to the two items in his hands.

Unveiling the Assassin - It was late when Jaejoong pulled up to his parent’s house, easing into the driveway and stepping out tiredly.

Jaded Eyes - Donghae sighed softly, his head resting in Seunghyun’s lap as they took up the length of the couch.

Entrapped -  It didn’t take her long to get lost or to lose track of the passage of time entirely.

Would-Be Hero - Stifling another nervous breath, Henry gave his attire and hair another once over, nibbling his bottom lip uncertainly.

Warped Affection - The tea kettle in the kitchen called to Luna as she was lounging on her sofa in her apartment, an equestrian magazine in her lap while she was curled up under her knit blanket.

Daehyun: Valkyr of the Gods - Yawning tiredly, the young boy with messy silver-blonde hair sat up in bed in the predawn light and rubbed at crusted brown eyes with a grimace.

More Than Meets the Eye -  Every hurried step he took with tired legs was harder than the last.

Elaborate Deception - The signs were all there.

Can I Help You, Dear? - “Siwon?” the brunette haired beauty murmured quietly, lying still.

Dust in the Wind -  This was stupid.

Phoenix in Stone - Like she always did, and had done for as long as she could remember, she studied her face in the polished silver mirror on the other side of the room.

Ice Skating and... Fighting? -  “I had a good time tonight,” Sungmin smiled, comfortably bundled in his winter coat with his gloved hands holding lightly to Leeteuk’s arm as they walked along the brightly lit sidewalk at night.

By Magic and Blood -  It was just beginning to grow dark when the lone rider on his equally tired horse paused at the foot of the mountain that rose dauntingly before them.

Atonement - Her thoughts were troubled as she walked along the well-worn dirt path, following the roads as they took her from one town to the next.

Five More Minutes - He could feel Eli watching him.

Sub-Prime Extinction - The problem with fighting a battle you couldn’t win was that, like a rabid dog too far gone, you stopped caring about what might happen to everyone else in the aftermath.

Facade - The television screen in the restaurant was on but silent, the volume muted though there were captions scrolling across the bottom so the patrons could read along if they wanted to.

And I You - In the quiet of the resting dance studio, dust motes floated lazily, reveling in the shimmering rays of sunshine that streamed through the relatively clean windows.

Acquired Smile - Raised voices followed Myungsoo as he hurried out the front door, shutting the too flimsy barrier behind him with his shoulders hunched and head bowed.

Partis Nex Vita: Six Point Magic - Weary and hurt, the six men clung to each other and clustered together as they made their way into the small, mostly dark hovel with two moderate beds greeting them in the hopefully safe haven.

Descendants and Tribulations - With a perturbed frown on his face, Namjoon inspected the street before him, dark eyes sliding from left to right as he took in the people moving about, patrons to the small shops lining the pavement.

Two Realms, One Heart - Waning sunlight warmed his face where the giant burning orb rested on the edge of the horizon, the top framed by the overarching foliage of the massive tree he was resting under.

The Scribe and the Familiar (in Training) - Messy bed hair greeted him in the mirror when Junhyung stepped into the bathroom to wash his face.

Of Parties and Mischief - “Oh come on already,” Youngjae urged, pulling the taller male from the car with the determination of a bull; his strength was useless against the reluctant young man but persistence paid off occasionally.

Something Different - Their voices blended together in an odd harmony as the pair sang along to the song blaring on the radio, bouncing in their seats as Hakyeon continued to drive them further into the veritable middle of nowhere while Jiho sat in the passenger seat, happy as could be.

Late Night Happenings - Thunder rumbled gently in the evening sky, warning of rain to come while flashes of lightning danced in the clouds.

Stalked by Shadows - Branches and leaves rustled as he stalked through the growth, brilliant blue hide mixing with vibrant greens well enough to keep him marginally hidden.

Fight for You - The shackles around his wrists hurt, pinching at already bruised skin as he was herded through the murmuring crowd.

His Eidolon - It was simply because Minsoo was blind.

Symbiosis - The main gate loomed in front of Taekwoon and he held tighter to the young priest’s hand as they continued to approach the yawning opening.

After the Accident: A Spectre's Interference - The atmosphere was quiet in the kitchen except for the sound of dinner simmering on the stove and the ever present roar of Hakyeon’s thoughts.

A Difference of Opinion - He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel in time to the music and sang along to the lyrics under his breath, keeping his gaze trained on the road.

Rainy Day Realizations - Rain poured down and splattered on already drenched clothes, soaking through to the too white skin beneath.

Love Lost, Love Found (Chaptered) - With a tired sigh and a quick swipe against her forehead, Hyoyeon stood up and stretched her arms above her head.

Love Lost, Love Found (Oneshot) - Sitting across the table from him with her fingers threaded together under her chin, the only thing Hyoyeon could think was that he was perfect.

Gargoyles and Spirits - He couldn’t believe he’d agreed to such a stupid dare.

Akin - Darkness aded his senses.

Believe - The army marched inexorably forward, guarding a strange caravan in the middle of the milling mass of soldiers and scripted forces.

The Strongest Among Us - Watching them move across the training hall was like magic in its own right.

Babysitting Adventures -  Another last minute pass around the house let Junho know that everything was generally where it was supposed to be.

Mimicry Trickery - One murder after another and each more brutal than the one before it.

Wind Tamers - The early morning air was cold on his face and unclothed chest as the horse under him galloped hard over the ground, carrying Taeyang as fast as it could.

Sigil Sworn - Drawn by the raised voices of the crowd around the arena, Wooyoung couldn’t help but be at least a little curious when he rode into the small city of Thraken.

It Begins With Blood - He didn’t like flying.

Neverealm - From the ends of the earth to the boundaries of the other realms, they’d searched for her and yet, even now, where the planes of existence simply ended, she was still lost to them.

Vampire Politics - Mist rose from the ground, curling in wispy strands that swirled underfoot and obscured the surface beneath.

Secret Christmas Surprise - Very carefully, Daehyun tip toed out of the bedroom he and Jongup shared, making sure not to make any noise as he went.

Don't Let Go - Mud squelched under foot while Amber plodded through the marshy ground, eyes peeled for a particular plant she was searching for.

Blackest Friday - Changhyun was jittery as he rushed through the overly large house he lived in with his grandparents.

A Duelist's Duty - The elders were calling for another session.

Onboard the Shinee Ship - Hunkered down under the quiet engine with a slender screwdriver clenched carefully between his teeth while his skilled hands fiddled with loosening the bolts around the containment panel so he could look inside, Kibum hummed to himself contentedly.

Idiots All - It was cold, some combination of wet and dry in the wind.

The Price of Innocence - Outside the bars of his cage, Byunghyun knew life existed.

When He Loses Control - The reflective surface of the water showed him a pale face with blood spatters dotting his cheeks under the brunette bangs nearly covering his dark brown eyes.

Fleeing From Fate - Divinations weren’t always easy.

The Palace of Dreams - At the pole of the Southern Hemisphere, in the coldest part of the realm of Tiernan, the god Hyukjae and goddess Hyoyeon looked over their frigid domain from the frozen wastes of their aging temple.

What have I learned from this? - I apparently like fairly long opening sentences...  Hmm.

Haha yes fairly long. But I also like how they all truly embody a glimpse into the story. It's not just a simple one line, it's painted a picture the reader sees right off. That's really neat to see!
