PERSONALITY :　

Eunjae has always been someone that acts older than her age. Some may say that she's an old soul because of her clear outlook on life and how easy she gets along with those that are older than her. She always makes the most out of her days and tries to never waste anytime. Carpe diem is her mantra and she always puts her all in everything that she does. If her situation begins to look tough, she reminds herself that even if she's facing hardships at that moment, tomorrow will be a new day. Her outlook in life is very positive and loves to look on the brighter side of things. It's her "can do" attitude that people admire. With her open mind, she never judges and finds it easy to adapt to any situation given to her. With all her time in the dance community, she noticed that as more people began to be successful, the more they strayed away from her roots. She always likes to remind everyone around her to never forget their roots and to always be thankful of how successful and blessed they are at any moment. She loves to encourage others and also give sincere advice to those that always come to her for advice. Eunjae never loses her head if she wins at dance battles or competitions, she will always acknowledge her competitors and spread good vibes to those around her. 

She's also one of the nicest people you will ever meet. It's hard for people to understand her because of how quiet she can be. Eunjae prefers to observe those around her and tends to get lost in her thoughts. But once you strike up a conversation with her, she's easy to get along with. Although her quiet nature makes it hard for people to approach her, once she warms up to you she will immediately bring you under her wing. Eunjae tends to put everyone she cares about before her and forgets to put herself first sometimes. She won't hesitate to drop whatever she's doing for her friends and family whenever they need help. With her calm personality, her friends usually go to her for advice since she doesn't like to beat around the bush.  She'll be blunt with them and tell them her honest opinion. She'll be truthful and upfront with people if she needs to be whether it'd be she's talking to someone she's close with or someone she's just casually talking to. Sometimes, she doesn't even know her limits or when to stop talking when she's hurt someone. Her replies tend to be taken the wrong way because she tends to be very sarcastic/witty at times. Eunjae also tends to bottle her emotions up and hesitates to lean on the people around her. She's used to keeping things to herself because she hates being a burden to others.

Eunjae tends to be a perfectionist whenever it comes to herself and the arts. Whenever she's running rehearsals, she makes sure that the routine is flawless, down to the littlest of details. If one person is off by even a little bit whether it'd be if a person's hand was off by an inch or even if they couldn't match the level of their team mates, then she will call them out. Everything needs to be flawless and up to her expectations and she will continue to revise it until she thinks it's good enough. All of her things need to be orderly and organized in order for her to function correctly as well. This kind of thinking often leads her to overthink everything and tends to get highly emotional. She'll either immediately close herself off to control herself or her temper will run short and she'll begin to snap at those around her without realizing it.

BACKGROUND :　

Chae Eunjae was born on September 15, 1999 in Busan South, Korea. At that time, she was the youngest of the family with her brother who was six years older than her. Her father was a sports coach at the local university while her mother was a music teacher and pianist at the elementary school in their neighborhood. Despite their , her and her brother were really close. She had always looked up to him as her inspiration because of how outgoing he was. Her family life was alright for the first five years of her life. But it soon changed when her mother found out that her father was cheating on her with one of the new transfer teachers. Eunjae wasn't dumb at her young age, despite her mother and brother hiding it from her. Since her room was right be the master bedroom, she would often hear her parents fighting. They soon divorced and her father moved to Japan with his girlfriend. She and her brother weren't mad at him, but disappointed at the fact that despite the love story they would constantly share with their children, their father had fallen out of love with their mother. After two years, their parents made up and were back to being close friends. Eunjae then gained a step-sister that she and her brother love to dote on whenever they flew to Japan to spend their summers together. 

Growing up, Eunjae was a decent student. She wasn't the best due to the many extracurricular activities she'd join, but she made sure to not fall behind on her studies. After school, she would go to her mother's work and helped her out with accompanying her on the piano and harmonizing along with her during her classes. Her curiosity always got the best of her and whatever caught her eye, Eunjae would give it a try. At her school, she was known as the "all-around haksaeng". Every new school year, she would be seen doing something new. One year she'd be on the volleyball team then the next she followed her brother's footsteps and joined the basketball team. Another she joined the theater club and landed the second lead role as Maleficent in their adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. Through the theater club, she met some of the dance club members there and they invited her to try out their club whenever she wanted to. Seeing as how activities of the theater club were wrapping up, Eunjae decided to give it a try. She immediately fell in love with dancing when she found out how fun it was. Music was a great part of her life due to her mother and seeing how her body was taken over by the music and the encouragement she always received from her fellow classmates. The club was linked with the high school as well and also had activities outside of school where they participated in dance competitions locally and nationally. They were known as Playm8 outside school walls and were one of the best in Busan. Whenever they performed, she loved the feeling of adrenaline that rushed through her and getting to perform in front of other people. She also got into rapping around this time. With always being in the underground community, a couple of her teammates were rappers on the side and taught her a couple of things. They taught her the basics of beatboxing as well as how to find her own flow. 

Not many knew Eunjae's life whenever she flew to Japan for her summer vacations. Her father had gotten a new job as a talent scout for Japan's basketball team and her step-mother was a fashion professor at a local university while working on the side as an aspiring designer. She and her brother would baby sit their step-sister and he worked part-time alongside his father. Her step-mother would sometimes bring Eunjae and her little sister to work with her. That was where she was scouted at the age of nine to be a model alongside her baby sister for a family clothing brand. She was signed to the company her step-mother was working at, Uniqlo, and her contract allowed for her to work the summers she came. Her cousin would also join them sometimes when he wasn't busy with his own projects or working alongside his father where he was a photographer. He along with her brother, would often take her and her little sister out for fun days like going to amusement parks or the beaches. 

She never thought that she would be scouted as a trainee and only dreamed about it after listening to her cousin's story, but when a talent scout for Big Hit Entertainment approached her after Playm8 placed second at one of their competitions, she was shocked. He had his eyes specifically on Eunjae and had told her that there was something about her that could make her a potential idol and handed her information about Big Hit Entertainment's upcoming auditions. He further asked her questions about her dance history before encouraging her to do it and left. Her members were very supportive of her and wanted her to do it because it was an offer that doesn't come by. She was iffy at first, but Jihoon reminded her of their constant conversations of what it would be like to perform in front of thousands of people. Her dream was to constantly be on stage and they had often said that being an idol was an ideal life because you were always recreating and pushing yourself as an artist while getting to travel around the world and being constantly on stage. So, Eunjae brought it up to her family and they was all for it. She then auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment with her own choreography and sang then did her own rap with 2NE1's I Love You and passed.
