[ ELISE ] it was her name in america, given to her by her grandparents who live in america. they had always thought it was a beautiful name and had wanted to name haneul's mother it, but why give their korean daughter who lives in korea an american name ? haneul thinks it sounds like an old lady name, but she won't complain. at least not in front of their face. it's pronounced ellis, and sometimes it's shortened to liss. her grandparents and jaein call her this, as well as a few attempts from jeon.
[ JJANG HANEUL ] jjang for short, it's a typical twist on her last name. and it fits, because she's pretty good at everything tbqh. she has so many hidden charms to her, so the nickname comes out when something new about her is revealed, but it's also used just as casually in the hallways or in class. "wassup, jjang!" "hey, jjang haneul, can you help me with this math problem?" she even uses the nickname as well, jjang being something she says often and with meaning, along with a grin and a thumbs up.
[ MICHIN NYEON 미친년 ] this roughly translates to 'crazy girl', but that definition has little to no correlation to the nickname. a teacher commented once on what a miso cheonsa ( smile angel / 미소 천사 ) haneul was, and jungkook overheard. he brought it up later, finding it funny that anyone would think she was an aNGEL HAH. nonetheless, he decided to take it up in a taunting kind of way. in order to shorten what he considered quite a mouthful, he changed it to micheon, then realized that it sounded like michin nyeon, which he immediately took a liking to for no particular reason than he goes crazy because of her smile he's weird. it's a playful nickname, not at all derogatory, and he always calls it out in his busan satoori to get haneul's attention. sometimes it's casually used, ( "hey, michin nyeon, can you get me a skewer?" ), sometimes it's more affectionately used ( *ruffles her hair* hey, michin nyeon, did you sleep well?" ), and other times it's used more literal to it's true meaning. "hey, michin nyeon, what makes you think walking in the middle of the street is safe?"
[ MASTER ] so a whiles away into jungneul's tutoring sessions, the pair has lapsed into playful banter and comfortable atmospheres. they have inside jokes and all that, and ok basically this nickname originated because one day haneul was like 'ok you wanna pass this midterm you gotta listen to me man i have all the secrets to help you succeed !' and he's like yES SIR ! and she's like ok yes you must listen to me i am your master hAH HEY THAT SOUNDS NICE you should call me that now yes. so she makes him call her master and at first he was like wtf no but ofc he gives in kind of and then he just kind of lapses into it. he mostly called her this during their tutoring sessions, but now it's kind of disappeared, but even throughout the trip, she gives him little english lessons so he's like 'ok yes master'

​[ ENGLISH ] she's not 100% fluent, but i'd say 95%. her dad sent her abroad for middle school because...honestly, who knows. but it proved well because she learned a lot of english and is very advanced, even if she was only in america for 4 years. the education also made her more than eligible for enrollment at haneul high, which haneul's dad hadn't even guaranteed her, even though he's the principal.

PERSONALITY : there's a division between those who think jeon jungkook is stuck up, prideful, and haughty and those who think he's talented, hard-working, and caring. and to be honest, both sides are right. sometimes the whole fanbase thing can get to jungkook's head - he knows people love him and he can maybe use it to his advantage sometimes and he tends to give himself slack because he knows he can, but he really is well-intentioned. when he does give himself slack, he makes up for it later by working twice as hard. he knows how hard he's worked to get to where he is now, so he continues to work hard to stay on top of his game. heh many of these divided people are bystanders, be it classmates or his fangirls, and none of them really know him that well. he's only close and loyal to his 6 other friends, because despite all the popularity, he can be kind of socially awkward. he's spent a majority of his life with these hyungs, which is why he can be so comfortable around them, but with other people, he can be pretty quick to judge and he's kind of blunt and stubborn and he's just not that good with people in general. sometimes, his playful side can get out of hand, too, and most people aren't willing to look past that at who he really is, like his hyungs do. he really is well intentioned though - he'll sometimes give people a chance, even if his initial judgment of them wasn't particularly positive, and he would never mean to intentionally hurt someone in any way unless they deserved it.

MEETING : it was the typical situation in which there's the trustworthy, reliable student who excels in the subject and then the just as hardworking but still failing student who the teacher doesn't have time to personally teach all the time. oh wow, reliable student, you have time, right ?? of course you do, you always stay here after school, don't you? of course she does, she's the principal's daughter. it wasn't long into the first semester that jang haneul and jeon jungkook met face to face - they've always heard of each other, of course. 'jeon jungkook, the only freshman in varsity ! has a huge fanbase ! excels at everything!' 'jang haneul, the super chic principal's daughter who talks to herself in class - IS FAKE - shut up suri'. the things they've heard of each other have varied, but they haven't really given a lot of thought to their own opinions on each other. until they had to - jungkook stalled going to basketball practice to talk to his english teacher about how he could raise his grade because wow is his mother disappointed, and just when the teacher is delving into his nth explanation about how he doesn't give extra credit and he doesn't have time to personally tutor jungkook, haneul walks by. a slight bow of her head in greeting to the teacher is all it takes - "oi, jang haneul !! come here, come here !" haneul sees the expressions on both of the men's faces...and she immediately knows what's happening. hesitantly, she inches towards the pair of males staring at her. "...yes...?" "you're one of my best students, you know that? and this here..." mr. yang drags jungkook closer to him, ruffling his hair playfuly. "is one of my worst." jungkook acts extremely offended, but it's all in good fun. haneul, however, is still uneasy - she stands there, awkwardly laughing. "so haneul, do you think you could do everyone involved a huge favor and tutor this boy?" jungkook's eyes slightly widen - for some reason, this wasn't what he had been expecting. who knows what he thought was going to happen, but this wasn't it. but he doesn't really have any...bad feelings towards haneul, so why not? and she's smart, so. and then there's haneul's side - hmm...tutoring the only freshman on the varsity team who has a freakin fanbase wth this is high school who has fanbases. but you can't say no to teachers - or at least haneul definitely can't. so here they are now - student and tutor ! after she hesitantly agreed that day, mr. yang bidded the two well, jungkook rushed off to basketball practice, and haneul shuffled back to her dad's office. that was their first meeting - abrupt, rushed, unintentional and sO FATEFUL !!1!

INTERACTIONS DURING THE TRIP :
[ PART I ] there was a full day between the time haneul was asked to tutor jungkook, so this gave them time to gather all the information they had about each other. the next day, both of them on their own way to the library, they continued thinking about each other and wondering how this whole tutoring concept would go about. jungkook had decided that she was simply a quiet, smart girl who listened well to her elders and probably got at least a little slack since her dad's the principal. haneul was prepared for anything - deciding that he could be stuck up due to his whole fanbase thing and then also knowing that he doesn't really have any friends except for those 6 hyungs. so into the library they went, meeting at a table in the far corner. they both surprised each other that day. haneul turned out to be witty, not at all shy, and, as expected, intelligent. jungkook turned out to be the shyer one, mostly because he was taken aback by haneul's outgoingness. their first meeting as tutor and student turned out to go from awkward to comfortable very quickly - teaching english is always fun, especially when your student really with jungneul ! english served to be a good mediator between the two, because it made things a lot more comfortable and chill and laidback, rather than if it had been another subject. haneul's quick thinking proved for lots of fun as well as actually being productive.
[ PART II ] this tutoring goes on for the whole first half of the year - the two continue to have fun, as well as actually learn and improve. haneul proves to be a good teacher and jungkook proves to be a good student - and they both prove to be very compatible. they make witty techniques to remember things and they have lots of inside jokes and they have lots of cute little ways to study and yes. besides studying, they become compatible in their individual mentalities - they start getting closer due to all the after school meetings and the other classes they have together and the basketball games haneul sometimes goes to if she has to stay particularly late, and it starts showing in the way they finish each other's sentences, mess up each other's hair as they pass by in the hallway, have pun battles, and throw sarcastic comments at each other while simultaneously celebrating over rising grades. somewhere along the way, nicknames were also established. she calls him simple nicknames - jeon, student jungkook, jk, or his simple full name, jeon jungkook. weirdly enough, she never calls him by his plain first name, and even weirder, he seems to not even recall her name. jeon uses the more unique nicknames - michin nyeon and master. they are explained way above !! things like their nicknames and other cute little things about their continuously blossoming relationship bRINGS US NOW TO PART TREEEEEES
[ PART III ] the second half of the year brought midterms, as well as gOOD GRADES BC HANEUL TEACHER PROVED TO BE VERY GOOD AT WHAT SHE DOES. thanks to the fate that brought them together little ways haneul helped jungkook remember everything, student jungkook was able to pass the midterm !! alas, it seemed there was no reason to continue the intense tutoring, so they called it off, but that doesn't mean they called off their friendship. the two continued to talk in and out of classes, smack each others head in the hallways, and help each other in their classes. it was a kind of surface relationship where they were actually pretty close but they both didn't realize how close they actually were until people pointed it out. "jungkook oppa, are you and p jang's daughter dating? doesn't she seem like she thinks she's all that because of her dad's status??" "hey, jjang haneul, you look very lovey-dovey with that varsity freshman these days~"
[ PART IV ] this brings us now to the aCTUAL TRIP !! HEHEH idk what i'm doing with this app but okay so obviously they're seat partners ! when they find out, they're both like -- oh what a coincidence? bc when it's revealed, they've actually not been talking as much - you know how it is. you're not obliged to see each other, so you kind of just drift away. they were still pretty close, though. close enough to bump into each other the day the seating arrangements were revealed and be like "oh hi -- hey -- hey haven't seen you in -- hey we're partners for -- oh yeah ! -- dude that's cool -- yeah man -- kay see you later !" they both had just thought it'd be 'ok this is gonna be a fun trip but i just have to sit with them all the time that's not even bad because we're already friends!' but HAH FATE PROVED Y'ALL WRONG. okay bc tbh these two have been interested in each other since the beginning especially since they're both kind of lonely ?? it was the first time they'd really befriended anyone, esp of the other gender, so they couldn't help but see each other as a man and woman you know not just as tutor or friend. and honestly, why not ? jeon jungkook was hard to resist - he was good looking, muscular, smart, talented, etc. and haneul was just so interesting to jungkook - he had known of her unique personality previously, but there were so many little things about her he found intriguing and she just pulled him in. and of course, as best friends do, haneul tells jane about her feelings about jungkook - note : not feelings towards him, just feelings about him. she simply thinks he's good-looking, attractive, and she wants to get to know him, but do you really hear that when you overhear someone talking about you? yes, jungkook finds himself unintentionally eavesdropping on a conversation between the two girlfriends and he finds out what haneul thinks of him and how interesting she finds him and so of course he's like "wOW KANG HANEUL YET ANOTHER ADDITION TO MY FANBASE ??" and her and jane are like "oK WTF WHAT --" and jeon's just like hohoho and he kind of doesn't think much of it but hANEUL IS FREAKING OUT but she can pretty much tell he thinks it's nothing so she's like ok this will be over soon but jeon jungkook being jeon jungkook, he continuously brings it up throughout the plane ride and the whole trip - "wow, to think that we'd end up being seat partners? you must be so happy!" "hey, what do you like about me?" "it's ok, haneul, you can fall asleep on my shoulder" etc. and haneul is so like omfg can you nOT but the thing is the feelings dON'T GO AWAY. if anything they get even bIGGER because she's spending so much time with him and she just can't help but get to know him and talk to him and have fun with him because when he's not teasing her about her 'crush' on him, they actually talk and point out pretty sights to see and they share food and they're ultimately tourists just having fun. instead of just having to sit together, they actually hang out outside of the bus because they're friends, okay? just friends.
[ PART V ] but please we all know where this is going. ok but first, let me take a selfie let's address a problem - haneul and jungkook are seat partners. principal's daughter is sitting with the most popular boy in the first year. principal's daughter has someone who doesn't particularly like her that much and who coincidentally likes jungkook. it's not hard for that person to twist up some rumors yet again about principal's daughter using certain advantages to get what she wants. but the thing is, this time, people kind of believe it. a lot of people had always been so chill about haneul, even some first year girls in jungkook's fanclub - of course the jungneul friendship was saddening to the girls because nO JUNGKOOK OPPA but when the arrangements were revealed, no one could help wondering. maybe, just maaaybe, were the seating arrangements rigged? that caused a lot of problems ( and can you imagine the amount of people coming up to haneul and asking her to set them up with people ?? ) and doubt and even hate because wow who knew these 'fans' were so devoted to their title? a handful of the girls in jungkook's fanclub ( which is kind of a lot because who doesn't want to go to the phillipines ?? ) started to talk behind her back and gossip and all of the above about how she probably begged her dad to put them together and look did he just say she has a crush on him omg she likes him so she planned for them to be together and jungkook doesn't even realize what a fake she is wow she thinks she's so cunning she's not jUNGKOOK OPPA NOOO. luckily, they're too much of wimps to say it in front of her face, but she can still hear it okay you're not that discreet. so basically haneul has to deal with that for a majority of the trip, but thanks to jungkook, who is starting to love seeing haneul laugh and smile and just see her in general, it's easy to deal. but yeah, speaking of. jungkook, after realizing haneul has a crush on him, has started to think himself, too. do i like her? does she even like me? do i want her to like me? he's alwAYS QUESTIONING, but a short while into the trip, he finds himself already wanting to get back in the bus. he finds himself wanting to get back in the bus. he finds himself wanting to show this to her, travel to this place with her, hear her make some sarcastic comment about that store or vigorously refuse to try that suspicious looking skewer. he starts wanting to say it's ok, you don't have to eat the skewer, kiss me instead. he starts wanting to hold her hand in the streets, take cute pictures with her at landmarks, and just be with her in general. so once he realizes this, their interactions on the trip turn from a playful friendship to a flirty ?? relationship with mixed signals ?? and then they're just flirting okay because he cONFESSES omg a confession in the phillipines how exotic. i'd say he just asks her straight up like "do you actually like me?" and honestly it's yes because she's been having the same thoughts as him - wanting to show this to him, wanting to do this with him, wanting to be with him. and yes they confirm their feelings and they start becoming a very sweet picture for the rest of the trip. tHIS WAS SO BAD WOW IDK their interactions are just very -- they love having fun and they always do have fun together. when they sit next to each other, they take pictures or show each other pictures or tell each other stories or feed each other food they snuck onto the bus. when they get off, they sometimes go off with their own friends, but they also start hanging out just the two of them or haneul just tags along with him and his hyungs ( bc coincidentally jaein ends up being seat partners with her cRUSH SO NO TIME FOR HANEUL WHAT IS SISTERS BEFORE MISTERS !! omg make it eunwoo lowkey that'd be so cute ) so yeah they're a big, fun group who're always laughing, always eating, always taking pictures, etc. jungneul in general are just very playful and teasing towards each other and the older hyungs are always like 'wow young love' 'wow youth in general' 'such an epitome of youth just look at them'

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER THE TRIP : hMM okay so during the trip, sure they confessed to each other, but they didn't really establish anything, so they've kind of just been having a thing. so aFTER THE TRIP of course he makes it offical heh. and you can make it all dramatic because of his fanclub and suri and p jang's approval ( or not ?? )

FACTS ABOUT THEM :
 - they have a very comfortable, sarcastic, loving relationship which consists of lots of physical abuse HAH but lets say for the sake of their skinship ?? he tends to headlock her instead of putting his arm around her shoulder and she does that thing where you playfully hit someone but the thing is she actually hits hard HAH everyone underestimates her strength but it'S THERE and yes. they want skinship but they're both too shy to admit it or initiate it so they either do the abusive kind or the really really indiscreet one like him pulling her to the side when someone's trying to get by or her getting stuff out of his hair.
 - at first it's always her on the window seat just because she wants to but then he likes it because if he wants to point something out to her he has to lean closer HAH
 - he starts becoming the type to be like "you want it back? then give me a kiss" and she just glares at him and then he gives it back
