welcome to blog in the sky, run by yours truly, kang haneul ! this is where i talk about my day, rant about my problems, share my recent obsessions, post my covers,  reveal my recipes, and anything else you could possibly think of. this blog allows me to treasure memories and track my self-growth, which seungyoun says is cheesy, but whatever. i'm not taking him in when he comes crying to me about his messed up life. i'm an american born korean - coming from dtla to seoul, the name's ariel haneul kang  (or gongjubyeong, if you're like my friends who think i have princess disease because i keep apologizing when they complain about the heat). believe me, i've heard all the little mermaid references already. my name is derived from a drawing my dad gave my mom in their young love days of a mermaid silhouetted against the sunset. those two lovebirds are now successful owners of a cellphone company. they're busy a lot a lot a lot, so you can usually find me doing things alone or with seungyoun - there's really no in between. (cho seungyoun, btw, is my best friend since i moved here at age 11. he's also my neighbor.) despite youn's ragtag personality (hah jknotjk), i'm all about that healthy, clean lifestyle, mentality included. there are lots of outlets for my feelings and my creativity, and i'm here to share them with you guys because bottling up your feelings is never good, okay? alright, i'll stop boring you with all this self-help talk. if you have any questions or comments, shoot them at me in the link under the date (except for you, cho seungyoun. stop sending me memes). remember to stay inspired ; the sky's the limit!

004. she's pretty happy-go-lucky, very go with the flow. nothing really affects her too much, so even though her parents are too busy to spend time with her and even though she's been feeling very empty recently, she's whatever about it.
005. she doesn't hold her emotions in, but she doesn't share them unless she thinks it's necessary, and when she does share them, things can get pretty deep because she's very insightful and she thinks a lot and her speech shows it - she speaks in metaphors and analogies and she's overall very eloquent.
006. SHE'S CONSIDERATE, COMPASSIONATE, ADAPTABLE, INDEPENDENT, BLUNT, OPINIONATED, A TAD SARCASTIC, AND SHE HAS THE LAMEST SENSE OF HUMOR EVER.

009. as an only child, she really cherishes seungyoun and the squad.
010. if you haven't realized, her obligatory best friend is cho seungyoun, youn for short. he's into music and fashion, so you can imagine how the two spend a majority of their time together.
011. on any social media, she's[email protected] but SHE HAS ANOTHER IG ACCOUNT UNDER @touchthesky (1.3k!) WHERE SHE POSTS RECIPES, OOTDS, SHORT COVERS, DRAWINGS, quoteS, ETC.
012. she's pretty much in a constant state of tiredness because she rarely ever sleeps, but she always says she's so tired that it's beyond the normal point of tiredness. she doesn't even fall asleep in class, she's just...always tired.
013. her ideal type is someone with a larger body physique than her so she can feel small and comfortable instead of lanky and stick-outy like she usually does. she also would like someone to call her princess in a non-derogatory way like when her friends call her gongjubyeong otl.
014. and she doesn't really know this yet, but her ideal type is also someone who can make her feel...different. bc, like, she's not the type to get flustered over things easily, but if someone can make her feel a thrill or a little flutter, she'd obviously be intrigued.

today is november 22, 2015 - my 17th birthday ! wow, so close to becoming an adult already, even though 21's the legal drinking age. but wait, when did drinking become the certification of adulthood? whatever. so today was pretty amusing! i woke up around 9 to an amazing brunch, courtesy of chef joo, and my parents were even there to eat with me. of course, after the meal, they had to leave right away. they gave me allowance / birthday money and told me to hang out with seungyoun or whatever and then left. i don't blame them, though. eating that meal with them was enough, and hey, work will be work. but it's something i still don't have, so i needed to find something to do. after pity baking myself some lemon scones, i texted youn in an emergency. crisis : boredom. we ended up going shopping, getting ice cream, taking pictures - a typical day out for us. it was fun, as always, but here i am at 11:48pm, still feeling empty. as always. don't get me wrong, i love my family, i love seungyoun, i love life. but would it hurt to spice it up a bit? i know my welcome blurb is all about me staying mentally sane and all that, so maybe this is all just part of my growth. and i know i have tons of things to be grateful for - my dad is kang yoonsang, for goodness' sake! but i don't know - i feel so stuffy, so plain. hey, whoever's up there, pass me the sriracha.
