Help me decide.

Hey there! :) I dont really blog a lot but I need your opinion on this one.

So lately, Ive been reading a lot of stories here and yes, the ones famous plots are the arranged marriage, wolves, vampires, first love, bestfriends to lovers and enemies to lovers. Yes, Ive been used to that and Im not complaining about it since the best stories here in AFF also have those plot.

So here it is, I want to try something new but I dont know if itll be a good idea and I tried to disregard it but, it wont leave my mind.

So, Im planning to write a story about Jackson or Mark. Yes  Ive chosen got7 members who can speak english, why you ask? Because the story in my mind involves going to different countries and english being the universal language, its the only way the characters can communicate in another country with the people there.

I want to write a story where, Mark or Jackson falls in love with a girl with a different race or ethnicity, Im going to be straight, he will fall in love with a Filipino or a Filipina if you dont know it's what you call the people in the Philippines. They'll meet in Korea and fall in love, but here's the problem, the lead guy's family is not fond or doesnt like the idea of relationships. In other words, they dont approve of their relationship because the girl is a Filipino. So that's where the conflict begins, they need to prove and fight for their relationship. So they'll meet, fall in love, happens, they separate and yes, the lead guy will go to the Philippines for her.

It's a bit of a sensitive topic right? But why do I want to write it? I just simply want to make the fans happy, I mean lets admit it not all fans are koreans and probably most readers here aren't as well. And more to the fact that we cant really be with our idols right? I want to make them feel happy and divert them, that may be there might be a little chance that our idols might like us, or not even our idols just any foreigner we like, might like us too. Even if the society doesnt see it as fit.

The hard part here is, since the setting also involves the Philippines, I might use some filipino words or sentences but Im gonna put the translations dont worry. Also, if youre wondering why I chose Philippines. It's basically because I live there. That's all! Comment down your opinions :)

I actually really do like the idea for this plot (though, I may be a bit biased because I am Filipino myself). The thing is though, with these types of concepts for stories, execution is key. I'm not going to lie, this may be a hard story to write in terms of accurate portrayal, and how the story as a whole is set up. Like there is going to be a lot of factors you're going to need to take into consideration.

For example, how the parents are going to react to the girlfriend, and if said reactions seem plausible. Like if it were Mark's parents, chances are they might be more open to the idea of their child entering a relationship with someone who isn't of the same ethnicity as them. Especially since they live the U.S. where society isn't as homogeneous, and we have a fairly large Filipino community here in California. Whereas if it was Jackson's parents, they might be more reluctant to accept the girlfriend because of her ethnicity. It's possible that Jackson's parents might be more traditional in a sense that they always hoped their son would end up with someone who is Chinese. (I can relate because my mom is always trying to set me up with her friends' sons, or saying I need to marry a Filipino guy, etc.)

With all this, you're probably gonna need to do a lot of search when it comes to certain cultural aspects as well. The concept of this story would be a great way to explore the similar traditionalist themes that a lot of Asian cultures have. For example, addressing the whole "marry within your own ethnicity" thing. To quote a friend of mine, "Even if my boyfriend was Asian, my parents would say he's the wrong type of Asian if he's not Filipino." You can address the stereotypes that Asians have of other Asians, stigmas, etc.

Of course, you can easily take a different route for this story and make things simple. Completely up to you. But like I said, execution is key for concepts like this.
