► She naturally has dark brown hair but usually dyes it a more auburn color. Her slightly pouty lips and pale skin came from her father while her soft facial features and doe-like eyes came from her mother. But with her short height, everyone questions how she's so short when her dad is 6'2 and her mother was 5'6. She has two piercings on each ear. She can never go out unless she at least has some BB cream and mascara on, or eyeliner and a natural lip tint on.

 

► She loves street fashion. Leggings are her favorite thing to wear because of how comfortable they are. Her closet usually consists of black, white, grey, and burgundy clothing. The only colorful articles of clothing she owns are her oversize graphic tees. Every day she wears jerseys of any kind, crop tops, flannels w/ sports bras, or loose v-necks. On a day to day basis she'll always be seen with either a pair of Nike or Adidas shoes. Her go to accessories are her collection of snapbacks, dad hats, or beanies. She tends to wear a lot of hoodies and windbreakers because she finds them perfect for the weather and comfortable enough to dance in. Mai also won't hesitate to buy clothes from the guy section of the store if she sees something she likes or knows she can pull it off. She has a soft spot for getting to dress up once in a while due to the fact she's always dressed in clothes that are comfortable to dance in 24/7. Heels and makeup are her lowkey weakness and she loves getting to be all girly once in a while because she feels like a princess. { x x x x x x }

► Mai is a very carefree spirit and tends to voice out her opinions without thinking. Ever since she was young, she always had this bright personality to her that immediately drew people's attention towards her. She tends to be a blabber mouth and doesn't hesitate to give her input on things. This can also be a bad side to her because she hates it when someone tries to beat around the bush with her. She will be truthful and upfront with people if she needs to be whether it'd be she's talking to someone she's close with or someone she's just casually talking to. Sometimes she doesn't know her limits or when to stop talking when she's hurt someone. As she grew up, her opinions and comebacks became wittier and sarcastic. As much as she loves to make sarcastic remarks in her conversations, Mai is also quite the jokester. She loves to friends and family member with pranks or jokes around with them. Her outlook in life is very positive and loves to look on the brighter side of things. She's also very curious about everything that's around her. She gets easily distracted by whatever's going on around her but takes notes of the little details. If she's sitting in a lecture hall or practice room, her eyes begin to wander and she'll ask questions to herself like, 'I wonder how that guy got injured?' or 'The girl in the corner looks lonely, maybe I should talk to her sometime.' or even 'I'm thinking about Chinese for dinner tonight...I should really text Tsubasa what he wants after school.'

 

On the other hand, she tends to be very independent. She doesn't like to lean on people too much because she sees herself as a burden and prefers to keep to herself when everyone has their own things to worry about. When it comes to the people she cares about, she always puts them first. Most of the time she's too selfless to look after herself and do the things that she wants. Mai is also a perfectionist. She needs everything to be perfect, whether it'd be the choreography she makes or how her bedroom looks, she will stop at nothing until it's up to her satisfaction. Mai will overlook every single tiny detail in whatever she's doing. She overthinks and analyzes everything which causes her to get easily stressed and highly emotional. She'll either immediately close herself off from the people around her or her temper will run short. If she loses her temper, she'll snap at the people around her without realizing it and speak without thinking. She'll bottle things up until it gets too overwhelming for her and she'll have a mental breakdown.

 

► Living the life as the "perfect" daughter.

Growing up for most of her life, she was the only daughter of Kinomoto Ryouta and Megumi. With her father as a world-renowned violinist and her mother running a dance company that specializes in ballet and cultural dances after retiring as the prima ballerina in Japan's National Ballet, Mai was expected to live up to the images of her parents. She was brought up learning the perfect manners and how to act amongst the upper class. Mai often kept to herself and acted demure because her mother's eyes were always on her. Whenever she's with her parents, she keeps the image they expect her to have, but when she's with her friends that's where her true colors show. When she would get tired of keeping up the perfect daughter act, she would often retaliate or speak back to her parents. Her temper would often run short whenever she dealt with them because they never listen to her. If it got too suffocating in the household, she would go over to her grandmother's house until her mother would return home from work.

► He is my light in this monochrome world. 

When she was fourteen, her mother gave birth to her younger brother. Since her parents were often busy with work, she was already used to looking after herself with the help of the nanny her parents hired. So after they went back to work, Mai was the one that looked after her younger brother. Ever since he was born, he was the one that brought comfort and company in the monochrome world that she lived in. She lived to hear his little giggles and adorable eyesmiles. He was one of the reasons why she aimed to debut as an idol because he would always admire the performers on screen and tell her that she should become one of them.

► Dancing is my life.

Even though she isn't that close to her parents, she did look up to her mother when ever since she was a toddler. Her mother used to bring her to the company's rehearsals after she learned how to walk. Watching the pas de deux gracefully dance across the floor while her mother gave them critiques or the way the women would move as if they were floating across the floor in their kimonos was what piqued her interest in dance. Her mother took note of this when Mai would try to follow along in her little corner and decided to mold her into a ballerina/cultural dancer. It was also a sign for her mother to get Mai to follow in her footsteps. Since the meaning of Mai's name is dance, it seemed like the art flowed through her veins. Mai found that dancing came natural to her. So, she was okay with all the training at first because it was a way to spend time with her mother, but Mai later realized that her mother had high expectations of her and treated her like another student rather than her own daughter. Hip-hop dance caught her interest at the age of eleven when her and her friends were walking around the streets of Tokyo and came across a street performance. Mai was amazed by the freedom that the dancers had with their bodies and the huge smiles on their faces as they danced. Their bodies grooved with the intricate beats rather than the strings and chords of an orchestra. It only took her thirty seconds to fall in love with the style and she later received a flier about the dance studio that was opening up: En Dance Studio. Ever since that day, she began to take classes at En Dance to become better at hip-hop and eventually became one of their regular students. On her off days from her mother's company, those would be the days she would spend all of her day at En Dance to forget the stress she has. It became her escape where she could be herself and not worry of ruining her parents' image.

He feels sorry towards her for not really being there for her, but due to his busy schedules he can only look after her from afar

Constantly pushes her to better herself as a young woman in high society as well as a dancer. She's rarely affectionate with her daughter because she believes tough love is the best kind of love. 

► Brother, Kinomoto Tsubasa | 5 | N/A | innocent, playful | 10 |  Always clings onto Mai because she is his foundation. The two love to joke around and play with each other. Highly looks up to her as a role model and wishes to be as cool as her one day. She is his precious Simba-neesan

► Grandmother, Kinomoto Hana | 85 | retired CEO | wise, loving| 10 | She's usually the one that guides Mai along the right path and gives her advice whenever she argues with her parents. If her nanny isn't there, then she's the one that looks after her. She is Mai's safe haven and always feels at home when she's with her grandmother. The two of them would always go on walks together and catch up with each other's lives or she'll tell Mai about her past experiences in love and life.
