► generally ― in spite of her sunny personality, the way she dresses is otherwise. she has a boyish, plain kind of style. she only wears dark and plain clothes (pastel's fine, neon is not, and no excessive designs) and she goes for clothes that are cool, comfortable and casual. thus, she typically wears clothes that are meant for boys. she hates anything too tight and revealing; however, she doesn't mind wearing shorts that show off her long legs as long as they aren't too short.

► this is where arin's nickname as 'mini hobi' comes from. just like hoseok, she bursts with optimism and cheer. she has the heart of a child; full of laughter, energy and hope. she's independent in the sense that she's responsible for her own happiness - she doesn't let negative things get to her and she's a firm believer that what you think is what you get, so she's always thinking positive and her faith isn't easily shaken. her fun-loving, sunny and loud behaviour are just proof that arin's actually hoseok in his female form. she's far from materialistic and isn't the slightest judgmental. she's shameless; she's born for variety and isn't shy to make a fool of herself.

► arin pays full attention to every small detail in all her work; she's organised, divides her time well and although she may annoy the people she's working with, she gets things done with excellence. no matter how tiny the job, she always aims perfection and wouldn't settle for anything else. also, she's a total cleanfreak who literally carries sanitizer around and even the smallest speck of dust will irritate her.

► it's always good to be confident - just in her posture and wide smile, you can tell how confident arin is. she stands tall and proud because she believes in her own abilities, and she isn't one to go down without a fight. however, because of her overflowing confidence, arin may come off as arrogant and conceited.

► don't let arin's cute features and lovely voice fool you; she's the complete opposite of soft and feminine. she's kind and approachable, yes, but she can be a bit terrifying, especially when she's in a fight. though her voice is never raised, her tone and expression would set people off. she can also scare people by being confrontational; she isn't one to keep things inside her, if she isn't happy with something she'll say it loud and clear. if someone has a problem with her, she'll settle the issue face to face. she doesn't care about what people think of her, but she wants to know for sure what someone thinks of her so she'd know how she should treat them. she hates blurred lines more than anything.

arin was born into an athletic family of giraffes. her father, an ex-basketball coach, is currently 182 cm, her mother, an ex-swimmer, is 170 cm while her brother, a star in track and swimming during his young days, is 188 cm. as she's been exposed to various sports since she could walk, arin eventually found passion in basketball and track, like her father and brother.
arin's family is very close-knitted; they are stable financial-wise and have no serious drama going on. her family babies her a lot since she is after all the youngest and are very protective over her - her parents initially hesitated to allow her to become an idol as they worry for their health, but after a lot of persuasion from her and a little help from her brother, they agreed. arin's family wants nothing but the best for her and are always there to have her back.
she may be pressured to be perfect so she can make them proud, but she hasn't realised that they are already so proud of her and no matter what, they'll always love her.

► from young, arin developed into an all-rounder social butterfly. she topped in academics, athletics and attitude. she was the type who was popular because she was the teachers' favourite and was nice to everyone. with the way she strongly carries herself, this leads to the impression that she's perfect - her excellence is as if she isn't capable of making a mistake or falling behind. in school, she was always set as an example - if she did something wrong, surely people would start pointing fingers, right?
by succeeding, people shovel high expectations onto her shoulders and this is what led to her fear of imperfection. she's worried to let people down, she's worried that people won't trust her anymore, she's worried she'll be a disappointment.
pushing that darkness aside, arin was a really busy student but she always spared a little time to have fun. she loved to participate in talent shows and festivals and spend time with her friends doing childish and ridiculous things.
she was (is) also really smart; she's studious, taking studying as something she doesn't mind doing. she loved, loves and will always love math - it's her forte. she's always up to learning new things, even if they won't necessarily benefit her. not only was she gifted with a talent for music and sport, she was blessed with a quick and sharp brain.

► when she was around six, she found a love that was able to surpass her love for basketball and running - dancing. she was watching a dance competition on tv and was so mesmerised by the dancers that she insisted to her parents that she wanted to learn how to dance. thinking it'd be good for her, her parents began sending to her dance lessons and she doesn't stop attending even when she joins middle school. through her busy days as a top student, dancing to music becomes her escape.
singing has always been something she just does since she was little; randomly, anywhere, anytime. she was gifted with potential for her vocals; when she started joining talent shows, she took singing more seriously and learned all the techniques and styles which gradually helped her improve bit by bit.
in the middle of middle school, arin accepted an offer into a prestigious dance academy in seoul. she moved to seoul at just 13 and began attending a new school and was preparing to enter sopa in two years. in 2011, arin with her friends, representing the dance academy, performed at a citywide talent show - unknown to her, a big hit representitive was sitting in the crowd. he was most appealed by her and so after the show, he approached her and asked if she'd like to join big hit and debut as an idol.
and she couldn't help but agree.

► bestie — kim chaeyeon [vita] // 19 // future idol // blunt, confident, witty // being of the same age and having similar aspects in their personalities, it didn't take long for these two little sisters of bangtan to get along really well. the difference is, well, that one of them is actually related to a member of bangtan. they're classmates as well as deskmates, help each other with training and are big hit's next best duo after taehyung and jimin. chaeyeon is someone arin would call her soulsister.
► bestie #2 — choi yuna [yuju] // 19 // idol in gfriend // fun, bright, joyful // these two go way back, even before either of them became trainees. they participated in an event that included many schools, including yuju's and arin's, and it was where their first meeting took place. they became instant friends and though didn't attend school together, they remained in touch until today. they're really close and text often, sharing stories and asking for opinions. arin has been supporting gfriend since their debut in honour of yuju and in return, yuju's just waiting to be an official fan of salute.
► main man — kim seokjin [jin] // 24 // idol in bts // loving, kind, witty // jin is undoubtedly arin's favourite bangtan oppa as he's her first friend in big hit (they entered the company on exactly the same day) and also because he reminds her so much of her actual brother. seokjin and youngseok are the same age, both are super sweet and look after her well. their bond is strong as brother-sister and he's really nice to her, which she's very grateful for.
► future husband — min yoongi [suga] // 23 // idol in bts // hardworking, influential, confident // a while after jin was finalised as a bangtan member, he decided to introduce his little friend to his new bandmates and that's how arin met yoongi. the first thing she ever said to him was "cool beanie, sunbaenim" and yoongi knew he'd like her. yoongi's another brother figure that arin has been fond of since she came to big hit, but she always jokes that he's her future husband because he's exactly her ideal type. he has a habit of ruffling her hair each time they cross paths.
► role model — jung hoseok [j-hope] // 22 // idol in bts // vivacious, humorous, friendly // arin met hoseok, aka her long lost soulmate, the same time she met yoongi. during arin's short get-to-know session with the four current members of bangtan, namjoon pointed out that they have the same laugh and this prompted them to hit it off instantly. put these two together and the room will explode from extra sunshine. arin admires and idolises hoseok; she wishes to be as passionate and bright as hoseok is. they're able to comfortably joke with each other and hoseok is arguably arin's true bias in bangtan.

TRAINEE YEARS /
2011 - 2012 ― she joined big hit as a trainee for the upcoming girl group at the time: glam. she was planned to be the multitalented, charming maknae - so since her dancing and vocals were already fine, bang pd requested namjoon to be her personal rapping coach. arin's potential with her voice didn't go to waste as her rapping talent developed, though a bit slowly since she wasn't interested in rap, but she became just below average within a year. unfortunately, arin's hard work wasn't paid off. just two months before glam's debut, a company rep suggested that 15 is too young of an age to debut at and she's pulled out of the group. needless to say, she was furious, upset and wanted to burn the company down - but there was nothing she could do.
2012 - 2015 ― after the episode, she had wanted to quit big hit and maybe find solace in another company, but namjoon gave her a pep talk and advice and she decided to give big hit a second chance. after all, it wouldn't be her to just give up. so after letting go of glam and what could've been, for three years, she trains without a solid purpose. she spends all her time perfecting dancing, singing and rapping - so much that she can hold positions as lead for all three aspects. during this time as well was when her passion for rapping grew greatly and she even started writing her own lyrics, seeking help from namjoon and chaeyeon. each day of training is hard for her, especially with the unguaranteed success, but she holds onto her dreams and continues trying her very best. even when it's tough, she doesn't lose her smile and faith and resumes trudging on.
2015 - 2016 ― having completely moved on over her case with glam, she proudly watches bangtan's success and is able to joke around about debuting without feeling hurt - "ah, i should've just debuted in bangtan instead.". when bang pd told her about his plans of another girl group and that she'd be a member, she remained quiet for so long that bang pd thought she fell asleep with her eyes open. with the promise that she'll definitely debut this time, arin actually cries out of gratitude and each day of physically harder training becomes emotionally much, much easier.
