Being an only child leads to you having your parent's complete and undivided attention. When they're around. But that also leads to you being into the more illicit things in life.
Hakjin like many kids went through a youthful rebellion. His father was a mechanic and suprisngly his mother was the one raking in the cash. Which lead to him being bullied. But he cared nothing of it.
He cared nothing for his parents. He always came home late and got into fights. His parents tried to get him to be a good child. After all they just wanted him to be safe. However they couldn't exactly enforce rules on him when they weren't around.
So his dad took him to work every chance he could. Which pacified him for a time being. However Hakjin would get ideas on how to make a car faster.
Until one day he decided to steal one of the customers cars while it was in the shop to take it out for a spin. From then on in he started street racing. Using the money he'd earn to save and buy a car of his own and add whatever he wanted to it. And the R35 was a glorious car.
Which garned the attention of the leader . The two quickly became friends which lead to him being one of the founding members of spitfire.
However that wasn't the only attention he got throughout the years. One of the rival crews decided that after losing to the r35 that they'd sabotage it. causing him to mainly focus on being the group mechanic and slowly rebuilding his magnum opus.
Ilwha did buy him a brand new sports car. But it wasn't the same. But he appreciated the sentiment.

Where to start with Hakjin? Maybe the fact he's very self indulging. If given the chance he will spend most of the day moping about and doing nothing. Lucklily that is not always the case as he always wants to be doing something that involves a car. However, he is very biased. While this might not be a big deal to some it can be quite a big deal. While you might not always ask for his opinion he will point out how something else is better. When in reality it isn't. This is only really seen with his personal bias towards japanese cars rather than sports cars. He is also quite vain. Especially when it comes to the appearance of what car he's driving and himself. After all if he's gonna be driving it. It's gotta look good. However, the only time he doesn't care how he looks is when he is working on a car. While not so evident after joining spitfire. He is self-centered as in he only cares about how things affect him and only. Good thing he really cares about spitfire right?
Now Hakjin isn't a complete . Which can be hard to believe. While rare in common day occurrences. he can be quite clever. But only really when it comes to cars. After all who else would think to get rid of air conditioning just to add another turbo? Actually can't tell if that's clever or crazy? Anyway he can still be seen as a cool person. After all he gets along with people just fine when they aren't dissing his work or drinking his beer. But that might just because he has a decent amount of experience with people given his age. Or maybe it's because he smokes? Dunno. While something that isn't exactly noticed. He is very dedicated to what he wants to do and he is very dedicated to spitfire. He's quite willing to work on a car for three straight days running only on redbull and insanity just to get one of their cars up in running in time for a race.

current situation : The only life Hakjin has is spitfire. It is his family and the only family he'll ever acknowledge. He also runs a mechanic shop which helps him get money and also makes things easier for the crew should they need to get their cars fixed. While he runs the place he hardly does any of the work personally unless he gets paid quite a bit. Instead he gets some of his employees to do work. Mainly so he can be ready should anything happen to anyones rides in the crew.

position in the group : In the early days he used to be one of spitfire's main racers. But nowadays he's just mainly a mechanic

When he doesn't win he's usually in the top four. Which isn't surprising considering they only go up to four man drag races. He's usually in the top 2 for 1v1 drifting. He just makes sure to time his gear changes really well. But his main strategy is the 6 p's. prior preparation prevents piss poor performance. That and just get inside your opponents head. Does wonders against him.

a : WAssup! *smiles* Name's Hakjin.
q: well, Park hakjin, it's an honor to have you with us. what's it like being with spitfire?
a: It's great really. Well at least when everyone is drinking all my bear or breaking their cars all the time *laughs* They're like my family.
q: that's nice, that's nice. what got you into street racing ? why did it call to you ?
a: My parents *giggles* Well my parents caused me to get into. They were to up tight on me. Dad always said that a mechanic's drop was to fix cars and that's it. Me personally I think a mechanic should also improve a car. But anyway I just liked the rush really.
q: beautiful. what would you say is your greatest strength and greatest weakness when it comes to driving ?
a: My prior planning really. I mean I don't race so much nowadays. Mainly because I hate my car * sighs* Nowadays I stick to drag racing. Mainly because if I now what's under the hood and compare it with what I'm running. I can usually tell if I'm gonna win. But my weakness? While I do admit I'm a great driver. I don't deal well with surprises. Which means if I pulled into a race because someone pissed me off and I don't make the right calculations. I'll often get duked and I'll give up because I can't predict their car. *laughs* I should have more faith in myself and my ty car *whispered *
q: are you ever afraid of the neighborhood patrol snatching your ?
a: Am I afraid of them catching me? Not really. I mean I'll be sad when they catch me. But I'll still be able to fix cars again someday. Even if I might be an ahjussi. But I'll miss hanging with the crew.
q: and finally, there are rumors of spitfire being a gang of criminals... reports coming up of looting and other criminal activities. is this true ?
a: Is that what the kids are saying nowadays huh? *grins* I would tell you. But where's the fun in that? *laughs*
