visuals — standing at 160 cm tall, haneul has long, black hair that reaches just midwaist. she usually just leaves it down and braids a bit back to keep it out of her face. with an average body ratio, her legs aren't too long and her upper body isn't too long, either. she has a small, oval shaped face with elegant facial features such as plump, soft lips and big eyes shaped like a half-moon. haneul emanates a kind of natural beauty and overall, she looks pretty dainty, especially since you can usually see her in a nice dress as she performs. depending on the situation, her attire changes. her casual wear can also double as her outfit for a normal street performance, so she has quite an abundance of casual performance clothes. however, when it comes to bigger gigs, like a palace or theater, which are rare, she only has one dress that she treasures very much. all her dresses are ankle length because of proper conduct, but if it weren't for the image she had to keep up ( and the mindset of the society that would find a pants-wearing haneul inappropriate ), haneul would go around in pants all the time. at home, when she's done for the day, she loves slipping into her roomy, baggy pants ( usually meant for males ) and sprawling her limbs around.

haneul looks like a dainty, fragile little girl, and her sweet, melodic voice doesn't help to harden up her image. not that her sweet image is wrong - haneul's a very bright girl who loves making people happy ( which is what she aims to do with her music ) and she's very compassionate, especially towards those she loves. she's always looking to give a helping hand and is very empathetic - she's good at understanding others and feels for them a lot, hurting when they hurt, laughing when they laugh. this skill with empathy sort of goes along with her broadmindedness. as a year old, she knows pretty much all there is to know and is very open to plot twists, since she understands that everyone is different and has their own secrets, so she's good at relating to people's feelings, mostly because she's never really surprised by anything and is just very 'oh ok i see how that could happen'. haneul's also pretty observant, and she uses that to her advantage, allowing her to see when people are uncomfortable or feeling down, so she can cheer them back up again. overall, she's just very understanding and easygoing, very go-with-the-flow and chill. her surface image is, to speak generally, sweet. she's humorous and loves making jokes and her fans find that she's even more lovable when you talk to her because she's never out to make enemies and is always kind when you first meet her. she likes cracking jokes with her more laidback fans and is actually pretty sarcastic, but always in a teasing way to be funny ( unless it's hyunwoo or yoon or even, later on, baekhyun. with them, she's lowkey more savage -- ).
ok, now, as you can tell, i with personalities, and her traits may already seem pretty contradicting, but allow me to explain. ok, so yes, haneul has the sweet image of a dainty village girl, even having earned the title of 'nation's little sister' because of her innocent image. but really, she's very tough and independent. especially since she lives by herself, she's learned to fend for herself in order to survive. you can just tell - she's not like the attention-seeking gisaengs who giggle airily and do everything they're told. she sings because she has a passion for it and she won't give in so easily just because some ahjussi is waving a few extra dollars at her. she has way more pride than that, and plus she's as stubborn as the next girl. especially if it's for the wellbeing of herself or her loved ones, she knows when to stand her ground. haneul's pretty opinionated, having her own set morals and being able to differentiate between right and wrong, and since she can get stubborn, she can argue when she thinks it proper. however, people rarely see this excited side of her, because she can tend to be very closed off. as said in the previous paragraph, she's especially compassionate to her loved ones, which is a small list ( refer to relationships ), with the time-to-time addition of a random kid on the street who's lost his parents or a stray dog. it takes a lot for her to consider you a close friend, since those she truly loves have relationships with her that have been built over years, and she's become even more wary and untrusting of others over those years, especially since she's experienced creepy ahjussis and money-craving wanna-be bosses. but even to those she's close to, she can be very indifferent. she doesn't want to burden them with her feelings and so bottles them all up to keep them to herself. it doesn't seem like a big thing, but ohmy she doesn't understand how bad it is to bottle up her feelings !!1! she's very manipulative in this way - acting like she's fine when really she's not (also, she can be manipulative when it comes to things like little white lies to get away from thirsty old men or to get out of trouble in general - because maaaybe she can use her slight fame to her advantage).
tl;dr on the outside, she's funny and sarcastic, and her humor is charming, especially to her fans because it makes her seem more humaneven though they see her in person all the time hello from international fans. she loves having fun and making people laugh and is very easygoing and laidback, but she's also pretty soft on the inside. she cares deeply for her loved ones and can't bear to see them upsetted and so takes care to not be down herself in case it worries them. she doesn't like talking or thinking about her own feelings and is stubborn in keeping them to herself, as well as being stubborn in general. she can be fiery when she wants, too. idk man i've like never done tl;drs actually hah.
inner demon — honestly, i wanna see what you have in mind for her inner demon. i can't really think of anything because haneul's a weak little heart and she can't bear seeing someone helpless and she's very 'better me than you' so sometimes she isn't able to fully get back at people as much as they'd deserve because she doesn't want people to feel like how she feels, however much they hurt her. the most i can see haneul exploding is verbally at people who wrong her loved ones or something because that's probably when she'd feel the most attacked and her bottled up emotions would go haywire. but i want to see what you think would be good because i'm lowkey a fan of dark stuff -- as long as you don't make her like a killer or something because i can't see her like going crazy otl. or maybe she can idk man !!1! who knows what bottled up emotions can do heh. edit : hmm ok i've been thinking about it but i don't think haneul could reasonably have like a full out wrath otl so if someone like heavily physically attacked her loved ones, she'd probably be the type to kind of go crazy and you know those kdrama scenes where they go to the opposer and are like hysterically crying. i think rather than an inner demon that lashes out on others, she'd attack herself ( after having little power on whoever hurt her ) because all those bottled up emotions would just overflow and explode and it'd be too much for her to handle so like emotional coma, sort of. she'd probably lose sanity for a while, especially if it was super harsh, like someone beat up her mother. of course if someone lightly injured her loved ones, she'd still be upset, but this reaction is when everything is just out of control yknow.

background — haneul grew up outside of eudaimonia, raised by two loving parents. just the three of them in a little city - one of those places where everyone knows everyone. haneul craved more - she wanted excitement, variety, adventure. from the second it was created, eudaimonia called out to her. she heard stories of the diversity in the place, stories of the kingdoms, of the royalty, of the air of fun, of the music. haneul had always had a connection with music - her mom used to always sing her to sleep, especially on bad nights, and haneul had picked up the sweet, melodic voice of her mothers and proceeded to charm the people of the little city she lived in ( with a little help from a gayageum or whatever ancient form of the guitar there is in this time otl ), but for her, it wasn't enough. there was always that little spark in her that desired to be ignited by a bigger, more unfamiliar audience, and where else to find that than eudaimonia? there were theaters to perform at, a bigger diversity of people to appeal to, even royal events to have a go at. when she turned 18, her parents, with heavy hearts, allowed her to go off to eudaimonia by herself to pursue her career and passion. they stayed behind in their cozy little town, promising to always support her and stay healthy and making her promise she'd take care of herself and that she'd come visit.
it was hard for her to leave, of course, because her parents were pretty much all she had in her life. she never really had friends back in her hometown because she preferred the company of her music, but now that was really all she had. but she wasn't too worried - her music had never failed to bring her back on her feet. she had never been mistreated by anyone and her parents were great people and she never really felt like she went through severely hard times, but even through the litle things, her music was always constant. now, here she is in eudaimonia, with relationships that have been built over the last 4 years. these few special people are more than she could ask for, but why does she still feel empty?

parents || kang jisung (53), kang boyoung (51) || these two are probably the best thing that has happened to haneul. they loved each other, they loved haneul. they always gave their all in raising her, making sure to teach her manners and educate her on life lessons and telling her to always follow her heart and raising her to be the compassionate person she is now. they were truly kind souls and their whole little city adored their family, even if their daughter was kind of antisocial. but just like their daughter, they love having fun, and haneul got her sense of humor from her goofy dad and her laidback nature from her mom. these three together is a very pretty picture - i don't know how else to describe it tbh. haneul has a very good relationship with her parents, knowing she can be her true self around them, and she always lets loose the most around them. sure, she's independent and has fended for herself the past 4 years, but on her occasional visit to her parents, she likes relaxing and becoming the child she still is on the inside - getting pampered and babied and served and loved without having to worry about a thing. best friend, crush || lee hyunwoo (23) || haneul met him the first day she arrived at eudaimonia. he's a bodyguard in training at a martial arts academy and he dreams to work inside castle grounds, but while he's working for that dream, he also likes helping out at the ship docks when he can, since his dad is in charge there. he was there when haneul arrived and was extra nice to her, probably because she was the first person he had seen of her age amongst the older people coming back from vacation or for vacation or whatever. but hey, the point is, she was his age and she was pretty and she was...charming. he offered to help carry her bags and she smiled but firmly rejected his help, and when a man attempted to steal her money pouch, she was no damsel in distress and ran after him. luckily, hyunwoo was no idiot and ran after him, too, retrieving the pouch and the man, who was sent to the officials soon after. they had the typical "oh, how can i repay you?" conversation, but hyunwoo twisted it up a bit, asking if she could repay him by being his friend. having had nothing of the sort back at home, haneul was kind of wary of the blunt boy, but not wanting to be rude, she said "uhh...sure." like fate, they actually ran into each other the next day at the market and he spent a majority of that day with her, helping her get accustomed to eudaimonia. from that day, haneul started slowly getting used to his presence and feeling comfortable around him and relying on him. over the past 4 years, they've grown to be pretty much inseperable and his family is basically hers, too. she finds she can relax around him now and the two goof around a lot, having a healthy relationship built on sarcastic remarks, endless teasing, indiscreet acts of kindness, and a one-sided love, yes, haneul has a crush on him. who knows how he feels (??!?), but she doesn't let it show because she doesn't want to ruin what they already have and she just treats him the same as she always has and always will (cries). hyunwoo's family || lee byunghun (50), lee minjung (49), lee daeul (4) || as mentioned above, hyunwoo's family is like haneul's own. she goes over to eat at their house a lot and is over there a lot and they've basically accepted her as their daughterin law. no, but seriously, they lowkey ship hyunwoo and haneul because they've grown to know haneul and love her and who else better for their son than his best friend who's gained so much more than approval over the years. but they don't push marriage onto the friends too much otl (why would that be hmm??!!) and just enjoy her presence overall. they're a lot more goofier than haneul's own parents and haneul never fails to laugh when she's with them. and daeul, hyunwoo's younger brother, is just the cutest little - oml. he has a slight speech problem or something, because he speaks nonsense gibberish that even his own parents find hard to interpret, but luckily they have hyunwoo who somehow has some brother telepathy because he translates for his parents all the time. daeul honestly probably thinks haneul's his real sister because she was pretty close with hyunwoo by the time daeul was born and having to help hyunwoo watch him sometimes brought the whole family and haneul closer than ever. 'manager' || park yoon (35) || he was a family friend of haneul's parents who they contacted in order to ask him to keep an eye on her and help her get accustomed to eudaimonia, but by the time he found her, she was already acquaintanced with hyunwoo, and still bewildered by the abrupt befriending she had just done, she wasn't ready to meet someone new just yet. she continued to kindly tell him it was ok, but he didn't want to let down her parents and continued to insist, and then when she, for the nth time, said she already knew her way around, he suggested something different - a gig - a small one, but it was still something. she agreed and that was where her fame started. after that, he continuously came to her with new places for her to perform at and he became something like a manager to her. ok, maybe not just that. she found out he really was a close friend of her parents and he opened up to her about his life and back story and stuff, and while she wasn't comfortable enough to do the same, he understood. and okay yoon is a kind of ditzy, very 'dorkasauras' kind of guy, but he really cares for haneul, who's like his younger sister kind of, and he's always looking out for her and loves finding gigs for her to do because he loves seeing her do what she loves and their relationship is half brother/sister, half father/daughter. over the years, they've definitely gotten a lot loser and she calls him yoon ahjussi and he's always nagging at her to find a man and she's like yo speak for yourself you need to get married you halbae. and she's probably the most sarcastic to him out of anyone else, but she really does care for him on the inside and is lowkey always looking for a woman for him. acquaintance || chan xinyi (20) || they first met on the streets. haneul was trying to find her way to a certain food joint to meet hyunwoo but she couldn't remember how to get there, when just her luck ! she bumped into xinyi. up until then, there hadn't been anyone who looked trustworthy enough to ask, but xinyi had this certain vibe. so ask she did, and xinyi provided haneul with a speel of rights and lefts that didn't sound half confident. in the end, "you know what? ill just take you there myself.", and the two walked together. haneul felt very at ease with xinyi, who made her laugh fairly quickly and just feel comfortable. in xinyi's opinions, haneul was probably just another person, but she wasn't as harsh about being repayed for her generosity probably because she was headed that way anyways. but after xinyi pointed her to the restaurant, the two parted on light-hearted terms. they never met again until haneul maybe runs into her at the palace while she's there for a gig and xinyi's with sehun? idk, but basically these two just have a pleasant relationship. but there's so much more to both than meets the eye.
lover's background — son of a concubine, byun baekhyun grew up surrounded by whispers and gasps and tsks behind his back. never mind that he was one of the possibilities of next in line to be king of eudaimonia, apparently that didn't matter if he was son of a concubine. no one thought him or any of the other concubined (?) sons would be able to step up and become ruler of the country. at first, baekhyun thought they were right. as a little preteen, he never tried to learn the ways of a prince or the duties of a king, because why try for the impossible ? but as he grew up to become a teenager and his body started changing, lots of other things changed, too. baekhyun grew tired of being looked down on, he grew tired of being underestimated, he grew tired of being thought as lacking for the throne. his father was a great ruler, and no matter his mother's status, that was his dad. so who was to say he couldn't follow in his fathers footsteps? as these thoughts continuously crept into his head, baekhyun felt something inside of him - a little itching, a desire. for quite a lot of things, actually. a desire for the throne, a desire to prove wrong all those who thought he couldn't do it, a desire for approval.
baekhyun adores his family, he really does. his father always treated him fondly and his mother was a kindhearted person who loved her son and tried her best to make sure her status didn't affect him and his growth( but look how well that went ahem ) and his brothers treated him well, a majority of them not caring about the different mothers they all had. they were all each others 'brother from another mother' and they played with each other a lot as kids growing up and still get along well as adults. but now, as adults, they have different, less naive thoughts than they did as innocent children, and baekhyun is unconsciously, yet steadily, feeding the desire in him to earn approval from those who looked down on him, no matter the consequences. baekhyun tries to gain the love of his people by doing things that will capture their hearts, need it be buying the whole cart from a salesperson on the street or doing simple charity.

baekhyun is well known throughout the kingdom of eudaimonia for many positive reasons since he goes around a lot trying to gain the approval of the citizens and everyone else. he has a good sense of humor and loves having fun just as much as the next person, but when it comes to the throne, he can become pretty selfish. having endured being looked down on for a majority of his life, he has a deep craving to be respected for once and will actually go to pretty drastic measures to get to that status. however, sometimes he doesn't know how drastic his measures are - he can be very naive, especially because he's really well intentioned. he truly believes he'll be just as good a ruler as his father is and so he tries his hardest to make things sail smoothly on his way to the throne. but he doesn't always take care of things himself, and he doesn't always know everything, which makes him naive, especially to some of the consequences that are arising because of the things he does to not let things get in the way of him ruling. this desire for the throne roots partly from his attention seeking self, as well. after being so neglected for so much of his childhood, he feels the need to be loved even more these days as the pressure of becoming next king looms on him as well. but overall, despite his slightly oblivious nature when he becomes blinded by his own needs, he's a very admirable prince. his efforts don't go to waste and he really is loved by lots of the eudaimonia citizens and he's a very efficient worker, which makes him even more appealing. since he knows so much about life outside of the castle, he's good at helping out the commoners and just solving problems. so you see, he really does have the potential to be a good ruler, but is his heart in the right place?

- i didn't know where else to put this otl. but so ok he's actually very naive and so like he doesn't really know about certain things like his father ordering all the women and children who were spies to be killed off. when it comes to killing in general, he gets very...unnerved at the thought. this is definitely an obstacle because some problems just can't be solved otherwise but he can't really find the heart to order someone to do it, let alone do it himself.
inner demon — he's so consumed by his ( pretty naive, actually ) desire for attention and acknowledgement that he doesn't understand what crossing the line is and he never thinks he does. he's always trying to gain positive attention from people and he doesn't pay attention to the negative things that are happening as consequences so like as long as it puts him in a good light he kinda doesn't care so sometimes he might end up backstabbing people or casuing them big trouble in order to benefit himself, but it's also kind of not his fault because if he truly, really knew what trouble he was causing, he'd feel super conflicted. but its also just as bad since he doesn't know what he's doing so he keeps doing it. so honestly, his fatal flaw is him being naive. he thinks he knows everything and is doing things right, but really, does he know how many people his father has ordered the deaths of?
love story — so haneul's invited to sing at some royal ball or something at the castle and she's wearing her special dress and baekhyun thinks she's pretty and charming and we could say love at first sight? i don't know, bc all the girls baekhyun has encountered up until now are like maids, lady-in-waitings or fellow princesses from other kingdoms or cousins, but they've all been too lacking for his taste or too stuck up or too...something. but haneul's melodic voice and sweet image pulled him in, as it did many people, and he found himself hearing her voice for days after. one day he's out in the city because he likes going out and being nice to the commoners bc like this is election 2016 man and he's hillary. so yeah guess who he sees performing on the street ? and he's like heol it's her oml and so he buys a rose and approaches her after her performance and he like tries to charm her but haneul's lowkey awkward and omg this is the prince !!1! so she's like uhm uh bc he's all like bowing to her and like 'a beautiful rose for a beautiful lady' and she's like 'do you have the right person i don't even know you' even though he's the prince otl and she doesn't know what to do and soon he's kind of flustered too bc her unsmoothness is affecting him otl. so yeah he just gives her the rose and is complimenting her and stuff and he's like smriking yknow trying to get at her and she's totally not receiving it bc she's not the type to be swindled by that. but he's starting to realize she's a challenge and that people are watching uhm -- so he like tries to make himself look all royal and professional again and he's like 'well maybe i shall see you again at the castle one day for another lovely performance?' and she's like 'hah no i highly doubt it your highness that was a once in a lifetime chance for me.' and he like leans in and smirks and is like 'my lady, i'm the seventh prince of eudaimonia. if i want a lady, i get the lady.' and then he rode away like the wind. now that was not a way to get into haneul's heart bc his cockiness was not appealing to her, but hey, gigs are appealing. and people who keep their promises can be slightly attractive. so a week later, when yoon told her the palace wanted her again, she was starting to rethink this baekhyun dude. mostly, 'what does he want from me?', but he answered that question for her at their third meeting. as she was getting ready to leave the palace after her performance, he held her back and asked when he could see her again ( this is in a private place btw !! ). timidly ( bc when are you allowed to joke around with a prince?? ), she smiled. 'i thought you were the seventh prince of eudaimonia, your highness.' he smiles back, leans in, and kisses her on the edge of her lips ( or her cheek or forehead or whatever you want man ) 'then tomorrow it is.' and then he leaves. she's taken aback, of course, and her feelings are literally everywhere bc what the heck that was the seventh prince of eudaimonia and he just kissed me and basically asked me out on a date or whatever and what the this is not ok is this some kind of joke i don't think this is legal. so basically she can't sleep and the next day she's like was he serious wait he didn't even say when he'd come wait why am i worrying so much but he does come bc he used his prince powers to find out where she lives which is kind of creepy but he snuck out of the palace and ditched his prince duties and haneul is so done with him like what is he. but like idk man he makes her cook him food and idk you can improv here he just spends a few hours with her because he needs to go back to the palace otl but honestly their relationship is him sneaking out to see her all the time and at first she's like ok what the heck this isn't legal why are you doing this to me and she's genuinely confused but they both slowly realize the feelings they have for each other ( yes, baek, too, bc he has a period where's hes like is this even real like what am i doing ). during the period before they realize these feelings and are just hanging out, haneul starts becoming more comfortable around him, faster than usual, bc when someone ditches their princely duties to go to your house, you don't treat them as a stranger. her sarcastic, funny side starts coming out and she makes jokes with him a lot and he makes jokes back. their relationship is filled with teasing, nagging, scolding, puns, some skinship ( initiatied by him ), and small acts of kindness that continue to get more affectionate. it's pretty much like her and hyunwoo's relationship,but with more . baekhyun just continuously falls for her, hearing her practice singing, seeing her feed a stray dog watching her do the chores. haneul slowly realizes her feelings for him as well. soon, him chilling on her floor in some peasant clothes she bought for him at his request is a normal thing. but of course there are problems - she's not always home when he comes bc she's out performing, he sometimes almost reveals his secret by coming in unannounced when yoon or hyunwoo is over, he's missing classes to hang out with her !!1! how is he going to be a good king -- and hyunwoo. so baek finds out about this little crush because haneul's kind of obvious, so then he tries even harder to make her his and eventually haneul gets over hyunwoo ( you can work out details however you want, but here's the important part ! ). but back to his classes - how is he looking in the king lineup if he keeps missing class ?? as he keeps hanging out with haneul, he starts not caring about his duties as a prince, but once he goes back to the castle and hears even one word of reprimendment (??), reality hits him and he is once again desiring the throne, but then the next day he desires haneul and too many mixed feelings oml. slowly, she helps him learn that his attention-seeking mindset isn't right and he shouldn't be trying tso hard to be accepted bc then it's not really you they're accepting, am i right?
relationships —
parents || kim jaewoo (age), byun soeul (47) || baekhyun has a fairly good, innocent relationship with his parents. he really looks up to his father and wants to be as good of a ruler as him later on and he simply adores his mother. she's very kindhearted and is one of the more quiet, modest concubines of the king and baekhyun means everything to her ( as well as vice versa ). of course it'd be great if he was undoubtedly next in line for the throne, but "your mental and physical safety come first". the three really do care for each other, but it's hard to be so affectionate when you can't even be all together at the same time. their relationships with each other are full of respect and wanting the best for each other, but beyond that, there's not that much depth since they can't spend lots of time together.

haneul looks like a dainty, fragile little girl, and her sweet, melodic voice doesn't help to harden up her image. not that her sweet image is wrong - haneul's a very bright girl who loves making people happy ( which is what she aims to do with her music ) and she's very compassionate, especially towards those she loves. she's always looking to give a helping hand and is very empathetic - she's good at understanding others and feels for them a lot, hurting when they hurt, laughing when they laugh. this skill with empathy sort of goes along with her broadmindedness. as a year old, she knows pretty much all there is to know and is very open to plot twists, since she understands that everyone is different and has their own secrets, so she's good at relating to people's feelings, mostly because she's never really surprised by anything and is just very 'oh ok i see how that could happen'. haneul's also pretty observant, and she uses that to her advantage, allowing her to see when people are uncomfortable or feeling down, so she can cheer them back up again. overall, she's just very understanding and easygoing, very go-with-the-flow and chill. her surface image is, to speak generally, sweet. she's humorous and loves making jokes and her fans find that she's even more lovable when you talk to her because she's never out to make enemies and is always kind when you first meet her. she likes cracking jokes with her more laidback fans and is actually pretty sarcastic, but always in a teasing way to be funny ( unless it's hyunwoo or yoon or even, later on, baekhyun. with them, she's lowkey more savage -- ).
ok, now, as you can tell, i with personalities, and her traits may already seem pretty contradicting, but allow me to explain. ok, so yes, haneul has the sweet image of a dainty village girl, even having earned the title of 'nation's little sister' because of her innocent image. but really, she's very tough and independent. especially since she lives by herself, she's learned to fend for herself in order to survive. you can just tell - she's not like the attention-seeking gisaengs who giggle airily and do everything they're told. she sings because she has a passion for it and she won't give in so easily just because some ahjussi is waving a few extra dollars at her. she has way more pride than that, and plus she's as stubborn as the next girl. especially if it's for the wellbeing of herself or her loved ones, she knows when to stand her ground. haneul's pretty opinionated, having her own set morals and being able to differentiate between right and wrong, and since she can get stubborn, she can argue when she thinks it proper. however, people rarely see this excited side of her, because she can tend to be very closed off. as said in the previous paragraph, she's especially compassionate to her loved ones, which is a small list ( refer to relationships ), with the time-to-time addition of a random kid on the street who's lost his parents or a stray dog. it takes a lot for her to consider you a close friend, since those she truly loves have relationships with her that have been built over years, and she's become even more wary and untrusting of others over those years, especially since she's experienced creepy ahjussis and money-craving wanna-be bosses. but even to those she's close to, she can be very indifferent. she doesn't want to burden them with her feelings and so bottles them all up to keep them to herself. it doesn't seem like a big thing, but ohmy she doesn't understand how bad it is to bottle up her feelings !!1! she's very manipulative in this way - acting like she's fine when really she's not (also, she can be manipulative when it comes to things like little white lies to get away from thirsty old men or to get out of trouble in general - because maaaybe she can use her slight fame to her advantage).
tl;dr on the outside, she's funny and sarcastic, and her humor is charming, especially to her fans because it makes her seem more human
inner demon — honestly, i wanna see what you have in mind for her inner demon. i can't really think of anything because haneul's a weak little heart and she can't bear seeing someone helpless and she's very 'better me than you' so sometimes she isn't able to fully get back at people as much as they'd deserve because she doesn't want people to feel like how she feels, however much they hurt her. the most i can see haneul exploding is verbally at people who wrong her loved ones or something because that's probably when she'd feel the most attacked and her bottled up emotions would go haywire. but i want to see what you think would be good because i'm lowkey a fan of dark stuff -- as long as you don't make her like a killer or something because i can't see her like going crazy otl. or maybe she can idk man !!1! who knows what bottled up emotions can do heh. edit : hmm ok i've been thinking about it but i don't think haneul could reasonably have like a full out wrath otl so if someone like heavily physically attacked her loved ones, she'd probably be the type to kind of go crazy and you know those kdrama scenes where they go to the opposer and are like hysterically crying. i think rather than an inner demon that lashes out on others, she'd attack herself ( after having little power on whoever hurt her ) because all those bottled up emotions would just overflow and explode and it'd be too much for her to handle so like emotional coma, sort of. she'd probably lose sanity for a while, especially if it was super harsh, like someone beat up her mother. of course if someone lightly injured her loved ones, she'd still be upset, but this reaction is when everything is just out of control yknow.

background — haneul grew up outside of eudaimonia, raised by two loving parents. just the three of them in a little city - one of those places where everyone knows everyone. haneul craved more - she wanted excitement, variety, adventure. from the second it was created, eudaimonia called out to her. she heard stories of the diversity in the place, stories of the kingdoms, of the royalty, of the air of fun, of the music. haneul had always had a connection with music - her mom used to always sing her to sleep, especially on bad nights, and haneul had picked up the sweet, melodic voice of her mothers and proceeded to charm the people of the little city she lived in ( with a little help from a gayageum or whatever ancient form of the guitar there is in this time otl ), but for her, it wasn't enough. there was always that little spark in her that desired to be ignited by a bigger, more unfamiliar audience, and where else to find that than eudaimonia? there were theaters to perform at, a bigger diversity of people to appeal to, even royal events to have a go at. when she turned 18, her parents, with heavy hearts, allowed her to go off to eudaimonia by herself to pursue her career and passion. they stayed behind in their cozy little town, promising to always support her and stay healthy and making her promise she'd take care of herself and that she'd come visit.
it was hard for her to leave, of course, because her parents were pretty much all she had in her life. she never really had friends back in her hometown because she preferred the company of her music, but now that was really all she had. but she wasn't too worried - her music had never failed to bring her back on her feet. she had never been mistreated by anyone and her parents were great people and she never really felt like she went through severely hard times, but even through the litle things, her music was always constant. now, here she is in eudaimonia, with relationships that have been built over the last 4 years. these few special people are more than she could ask for, but why does she still feel empty?

parents || kang jisung (53), kang boyoung (51) || these two are probably the best thing that has happened to haneul. they loved each other, they loved haneul. they always gave their all in raising her, making sure to teach her manners and educate her on life lessons and telling her to always follow her heart and raising her to be the compassionate person she is now. they were truly kind souls and their whole little city adored their family
best friend, crush || lee hyunwoo (23) || haneul met him the first day she arrived at eudaimonia. he's a bodyguard in training at a martial arts academy and he dreams to work inside castle grounds, but while he's working for that dream, he also likes helping out at the ship docks when he can, since his dad is in charge there. he was there when haneul arrived and was extra nice to her, probably because she was the first person he had seen of her age amongst the older people coming back from vacation or for vacation or whatever. but hey, the point is, she was his age and she was pretty and she was...charming. he offered to help carry her bags and she smiled but firmly rejected his help, and when a man attempted to steal her money pouch, she was no damsel in distress and ran after him. luckily, hyunwoo was no idiot and ran after him, too, retrieving the pouch and the man, who was sent to the officials soon after. they had the typical "oh, how can i repay you?" conversation, but hyunwoo twisted it up a bit, asking if she could repay him by being his friend. having had nothing of the sort back at home, haneul was kind of wary of the blunt boy, but not wanting to be rude, she said "uhh...sure." like fate, they actually ran into each other the next day at the market and he spent a majority of that day with her, helping her get accustomed to eudaimonia. from that day, haneul started slowly getting used to his presence and feeling comfortable around him and relying on him. over the past 4 years, they've grown to be pretty much inseperable and his family is basically hers, too. she finds she can relax around him now and the two goof around a lot, having a healthy relationship built on sarcastic remarks, endless teasing, indiscreet acts of kindness, and a one-sided love, yes, haneul has a crush on him. who knows how he feels (??!?), but she doesn't let it show because she doesn't want to ruin what they already have and she just treats him the same as she always has and always will (cries). hyunwoo's family || lee byunghun (50), lee minjung (49), lee daeul (4) || as mentioned above, hyunwoo's family is like haneul's own. she goes over to eat at their house a lot and is over there a lot and they've basically accepted her as their daughter
'manager' || park yoon (35) || he was a family friend of haneul's parents who they contacted in order to ask him to keep an eye on her and help her get accustomed to eudaimonia, but by the time he found her, she was already acquaintanced with hyunwoo, and still bewildered by the abrupt befriending she had just done, she wasn't ready to meet someone new just yet. she continued to kindly tell him it was ok, but he didn't want to let down her parents and continued to insist, and then when she, for the nth time, said she already knew her way around, he suggested something different - a gig - a small one, but it was still something. she agreed and that was where her fame started. after that, he continuously came to her with new places for her to perform at and he became something like a manager to her. ok, maybe not just that. she found out he really was a close friend of her parents and he opened up to her about his life and back story and stuff, and while she wasn't comfortable enough to do the same, he understood. and okay yoon is a kind of ditzy, very 'dorkasauras' kind of guy, but he really cares for haneul, who's like his younger sister kind of, and he's always looking out for her and loves finding gigs for her to do because he loves seeing her do what she loves and their relationship is half brother/sister, half father/daughter. over the years, they've definitely gotten a lot loser and she calls him yoon ahjussi and he's always nagging at her to find a man and she's like yo speak for yourself you need to get married you halbae. and she's probably the most sarcastic to him out of anyone else, but she really does care for him on the inside and is lowkey always looking for a woman for him. acquaintance || chan xinyi (20) || they first met on the streets. haneul was trying to find her way to a certain food joint to meet hyunwoo but she couldn't remember how to get there, when just her luck ! she bumped into xinyi. up until then, there hadn't been anyone who looked trustworthy enough to ask, but xinyi had this certain vibe. so ask she did, and xinyi provided haneul with a speel of rights and lefts that didn't sound half confident. in the end, "you know what? ill just take you there myself.", and the two walked together. haneul felt very at ease with xinyi, who made her laugh fairly quickly and just feel comfortable. in xinyi's opinions, haneul was probably just another person, but she wasn't as harsh about being repayed for her generosity probably because she was headed that way anyways. but after xinyi pointed her to the restaurant, the two parted on light-hearted terms. they never met again until haneul maybe runs into her at the palace while she's there for a gig and xinyi's with sehun? idk, but basically these two just have a pleasant relationship. but there's so much more to both than meets the eye.
lover's background — son of a concubine, byun baekhyun grew up surrounded by whispers and gasps and tsks behind his back. never mind that he was one of the possibilities of next in line to be king of eudaimonia, apparently that didn't matter if he was son of a concubine. no one thought him or any of the other concubined (?) sons would be able to step up and become ruler of the country. at first, baekhyun thought they were right. as a little preteen, he never tried to learn the ways of a prince or the duties of a king, because why try for the impossible ? but as he grew up to become a teenager and his body started changing, lots of other things changed, too. baekhyun grew tired of being looked down on, he grew tired of being underestimated, he grew tired of being thought as lacking for the throne. his father was a great ruler, and no matter his mother's status, that was his dad. so who was to say he couldn't follow in his fathers footsteps? as these thoughts continuously crept into his head, baekhyun felt something inside of him - a little itching, a desire. for quite a lot of things, actually. a desire for the throne, a desire to prove wrong all those who thought he couldn't do it, a desire for approval.baekhyun adores his family, he really does. his father always treated him fondly and his mother was a kindhearted person who loved her son and tried her best to make sure her status didn't affect him and his growth

baekhyun is well known throughout the kingdom of eudaimonia for many positive reasons since he goes around a lot trying to gain the approval of the citizens and everyone else. he has a good sense of humor and loves having fun just as much as the next person, but when it comes to the throne, he can become pretty selfish. having endured being looked down on for a majority of his life, he has a deep craving to be respected for once and will actually go to pretty drastic measures to get to that status. however, sometimes he doesn't know how drastic his measures are - he can be very naive, especially because he's really well intentioned. he truly believes he'll be just as good a ruler as his father is and so he tries his hardest to make things sail smoothly on his way to the throne. but he doesn't always take care of things himself, and he doesn't always know everything, which makes him naive, especially to some of the consequences that are arising because of the things he does to not let things get in the way of him ruling. this desire for the throne roots partly from his attention seeking self, as well. after being so neglected for so much of his childhood, he feels the need to be loved even more these days as the pressure of becoming next king looms on him as well. but overall, despite his slightly oblivious nature when he becomes blinded by his own needs, he's a very admirable prince. his efforts don't go to waste and he really is loved by lots of the eudaimonia citizens and he's a very efficient worker, which makes him even more appealing. since he knows so much about life outside of the castle, he's good at helping out the commoners and just solving problems. so you see, he really does have the potential to be a good ruler, but is his heart in the right place?

- i didn't know where else to put this otl. but so ok he's actually very naive and so like he doesn't really know about certain things like his father ordering all the women and children who were spies to be killed off. when it comes to killing in general, he gets very...unnerved at the thought. this is definitely an obstacle because some problems just can't be solved otherwise but he can't really find the heart to order someone to do it, let alone do it himself.
inner demon — he's so consumed by his ( pretty naive, actually ) desire for attention and acknowledgement that he doesn't understand what crossing the line is and he never thinks he does. he's always trying to gain positive attention from people and he doesn't pay attention to the negative things that are happening as consequences so like as long as it puts him in a good light he kinda doesn't care so sometimes he might end up backstabbing people or casuing them big trouble in order to benefit himself, but it's also kind of not his fault because if he truly, really knew what trouble he was causing, he'd feel super conflicted. but its also just as bad since he doesn't know what he's doing so he keeps doing it. so honestly, his fatal flaw is him being naive. he thinks he knows everything and is doing things right, but really, does he know how many people his father has ordered the deaths of?
love story — so haneul's invited to sing at some royal ball or something at the castle and she's wearing her special dress and baekhyun thinks she's pretty and charming and we could say love at first sight? i don't know, bc all the girls baekhyun has encountered up until now are like maids, lady-in-waitings or fellow princesses from other kingdoms or cousins, but they've all been too lacking for his taste or too stuck up or too...something. but haneul's melodic voice and sweet image pulled him in, as it did many people, and he found himself hearing her voice for days after. one day he's out in the city because he likes going out and being nice to the commoners bc like this is election 2016 man and he's hillary. so yeah guess who he sees performing on the street ? and he's like heol it's her oml and so he buys a rose and approaches her after her performance and he like tries to charm her but haneul's lowkey awkward and omg this is the prince !!1! so she's like uhm uh bc he's all like bowing to her and like 'a beautiful rose for a beautiful lady' and she's like 'do you have the right person i don't even know you' even though he's the prince otl and she doesn't know what to do and soon he's kind of flustered too bc her unsmoothness is affecting him otl. so yeah he just gives her the rose and is complimenting her and stuff and he's like smriking yknow trying to get at her and she's totally not receiving it bc she's not the type to be swindled by that. but he's starting to realize she's a challenge and that people are watching uhm -- so he like tries to make himself look all royal and professional again and he's like 'well maybe i shall see you again at the castle one day for another lovely performance?' and she's like 'hah no i highly doubt it your highness that was a once in a lifetime chance for me.' and he like leans in and smirks and is like 'my lady, i'm the seventh prince of eudaimonia. if i want a lady, i get the lady.' and then he rode away like the wind. now that was not a way to get into haneul's heart bc his cockiness was not appealing to her, but hey, gigs are appealing. and people who keep their promises can be slightly attractive. so a week later, when yoon told her the palace wanted her again, she was starting to rethink this baekhyun dude. mostly, 'what does he want from me?', but he answered that question for her at their third meeting. as she was getting ready to leave the palace after her performance, he held her back and asked when he could see her again ( this is in a private place btw !! ). timidly ( bc when are you allowed to joke around with a prince?? ), she smiled. 'i thought you were the seventh prince of eudaimonia, your highness.' he smiles back, leans in, and kisses her on the edge of her lips ( or her cheek or forehead or whatever you want man ) 'then tomorrow it is.' and then he leaves. she's taken aback, of course, and her feelings are literally everywhere bc what the heck that was the seventh prince of eudaimonia and he just kissed me and basically asked me out on a date or whatever and what the this is not ok is this some kind of joke i don't think this is legal. so basically she can't sleep and the next day she's like was he serious wait he didn't even say when he'd come wait why am i worrying so much but he does come bc he used his prince powers to find out where she lives which is kind of creepy but he snuck out of the palace and ditched his prince duties and haneul is so done with him like what is he. but like idk man he makes her cook him food and idk you can improv here he just spends a few hours with her because he needs to go back to the palace otl but honestly their relationship is him sneaking out to see her all the time and at first she's like ok what the heck this isn't legal why are you doing this to me and she's genuinely confused but they both slowly realize the feelings they have for each other ( yes, baek, too, bc he has a period where's hes like is this even real like what am i doing ). during the period before they realize these feelings and are just hanging out, haneul starts becoming more comfortable around him, faster than usual, bc when someone ditches their princely duties to go to your house, you don't treat them as a stranger. her sarcastic, funny side starts coming out and she makes jokes with him a lot and he makes jokes back. their relationship is filled with teasing, nagging, scolding, puns, some skinship ( initiatied by him ), and small acts of kindness that continue to get more affectionate. it's pretty much like her and hyunwoo's relationship,
