Appearance: She only has one form, unlike some other magical creatures. She has long, straight, ebony black hair, snow white pale skin, and very little color on her lips. Yuko also has stormy grey eyes. She's tall, lean and gives off a chic, cold vibe. She also always has crystal earrings on. When using her powers, her eyes start turning a shade that's closer to blue. The more and more she uses her power and closer to exertion she is, the bluer her eyes will get and her hair will start turning white itself. If her hair ever turns completely bleach white, this means she's used up all her energy and will turn into snow (basically death). She stants at 168 cm and weighs 48 kgs.

Style: If she is in her natural state, she is usually wearing snow white traditional Japanese kimonos with a hat and veil over her face. Her kimonos are spelled to keep her warm (a gift she once received from a travelling witch she saved.) If she is trying to blend in with humans, she's the one girl that's always overdressed. She gets sunburned easily so she will almost be in long sleeves and pants. She is constantly cold no matter what she does, so she just likes to dress warm because ironically, she hates the cold. Sweaters, trench coats, hoodies, scarves, you name it. She doesn't care what she looks like as long as she's not cold.

Personality:

— Vindictive, man hater, tenacious and stubborn, persuasive, resourceful and manipulative, self sufficient, distrustful and closed off, emotional, sympathetic and sensitive, self centered, tries hard to appear nonchalant.
Vindictive, man-hater
She's the type of girl who will remember what you did to her and how you treat her. She will repay any debts she owes and will give back any trouble she receives. If you touch one of her sore spots, she may react furiosuly and might get obsessed with revenge. To be honest, it's better just not to with her. She'll get you back times two. She also just hates men because of what happened in the past. If she ever sees guys harassing a girl, there's a 90% chance she won't hesitate to strike them down and kill injure them.
— Tenacious and stubborn
Yuko is the type of person to persist through anything. She hates admitting that she's wrong or that she messed up. She's the kind of person that has to have things her way or else she won't do it. She's one track minded and once she fixes her attention on something; she really doesn't stop until she has it.
— Persuarive, resourceful and manipulative
Yuko is an expressive communicator and can be very persuasive if she wants to be. But if persuasion doesn't work, she's not afraid to take the dirty way to get what she wants. It's not always a bad thing, but she has been ingenious in certain situations.
Yuko is an expressive communicator and can be very persuasive if she wants to be. But if persuasion doesn't work, she's not afraid to take the dirty way down to get what she wants. It's not always a bad thing, but she has been ingenious in certain situations.
— Self sufficient, distrustful and closed off
Yuko doesn't trust anyone and doesn't like depending on anyone. If someone like her husband can betray her in the blink of an eye, who's to say strangers and friends won't? She can be paranoid and distrustful and rarely opens up about herself besides her hate for men. She pushes people off that try to get too close to her and people usually give up. However, she secretly wishes that someone would be perseverant enough to get past her walls so she could finally trust someone after all these years. She wants to be self sufficient, but sometimes her emotions get the best of her and all she wants on the inside is someone to comfort her emotionally.
— Emotional, sympathetic and sensitive
Although Yuko may not seem like it because she doesn't like to express herself, she's actually really sensitive. She's not super confident and doesn't take jokes well. She is biased against men, but she's so sympathetic towards women and children that its sometimes obvious she isn't just an ice princess who gives zero s.
— Tries hard to appear nonchalant
Again, because she's paranoid about other people, she tries really hard to shut people out and create barriers around her. She tries really hard to act like she doesn't care.
— Self centered
Since Yuko has lived alone in the mountains for most of her 110 years of life, she's self centered. It's not that she's selfish intentionally, she's just used to putting herself first and has a hard time adjusting to a lifestyle where other people are involved.

Background: (if your background is long, pls separate into sections like I did)

[THE HUMAN BEGINNING] Yuko was born as a human during the end of the Meiji period in Japan and grew up during the Taisho era. Yuko's real name was Ishikawa Yui. She was a girl from a modest fisherman's family that lived at the base of Mount Tate in a town called Ahikuraji near the Kurobe river. Yuko was born with dark brown hair and brown eyes; she was a beautiful girl. Although her family had no status, men of all sorts sought her hand in marriage. However, she fell in love with a merhcant's son. He came from a middle class family, and compared to some of the rich men that were after her, his fortune wasn't much. Her family opposed the marriage, wanting her to accept the hand of one of the richest men in town.

However, Yuko was stubborn and refused to give up her love. At age 15, she ran off to elop with the man she so desperately loved. Without her parents' permission, they wed secretly and once she bore his child, they returned to the village. Yuko thought her parents would see that this man was for her -- she convinced her husband that with time, they would come to accept him. How wrong she was.

Yuko's dad slapped her the moment she showed up in front of the house with her baby son. They disowned Yuko and the rich man that had once sought her hand made Yuko and her husband's life a living hell. They were shunned in every part of town, bullied and cheated. But Yuko was so in love she htought she could bear it as long as her husband loved her. Time passed by, Yuko gave birth to three more boys and finally a little girl.

One day, her husband came home, drunk and beat up. Alarmed, she immediately started tending to his wounds, asking him what was wrong. He exploded; he socked her in the face. Her lip burst open as he began to cuss her out for all the troubels in his life.

Who was he? Was this really the man she fell in love with? She started to pack her things and tried to take her children with her. But her husband hit her once more and Yuko was only able to rush out with her little baby daughter in her arms.

As she ran out of town, she caught the eyes of the rich man's henchmen she turned down so many years ago. They began to chase her and she ran for her life and led them into Mount Tate's forests. That was a cold winter night. She would never forget how fast she ran for her life, for her child, imprinting her footsteps in the snow for her chasers to find. It started snowing. It was cold, but she couldn't pay heed to how her hands and feet started turning blue. Those men would surely her. She had to keep running. As the snow covered her foot tracks, she finally lost her pursuers.

[HOW SHE BECAME A YUKI-ONNA] But somehow she was stranded in the middle of a mountain during a snowstorm. She wasn't sure what was worse. Her child was cyring and she was so sure she was going to die in that clearing. But at that moment, a yuki-onna showed up. This one had super white hair with one streak of black hair amongst the snow white strands, blueish lips and blue eyes. This Yuki-onna was dying, but she had yet to find a successor. The Yuki-onna prposed her deal: if Yuko gave up her humanity to succeed her as the next Yuki-onna of Tate mountain, then she would save Yuko's child. However, Yuko must return the child back to the humans one day. Yuko was desperate to save er little girl-- an infant who was barely three months old and agreed. The Yuki-onna passed on her powers and mark to Yuko and the last strand of her black hair turned white, and the previous Yuki-onna turned into snow, mixing into the air with the rest of the storm. After Yuko finished nursing her little daughter, she left them with a few travelers lost in Mount Tate after guiding them back to the nearest village. She then changed her name and stayed near the mountain, carrying out her duties as a Yuki-onna.

After her experiences with her family and husband, she has come to hate humans, although she has a soft spot for little girl. She especially despises aggressive men. She thinks humans are all twisted inside and full of jealousy and prefers the creatures she has met in the magical world.

[CAPTURED BY EX'ACT] She was captured onto an EX'ACT preserve when EX'ACT started building one at the base of Mt. Tate near Kurobe lake. At first, she didn't really understand what the humans were building. She didn't want any that close to her. Wandering tourists were already enough. She went down the mountain to explore, but as she saw them starting to capture fairies, nymphs and the sort, she grew furious. She joined forces with the other yuki-onnas, tengus and other magical creatures to destroy that preserve. However the attack failed, and they were all forced to live on the preserve.

Present:

The Yuki-onna that happened to make Yuko her successor happened to be the Great yuki-onna of the Toyama mountain region, so after making all the yuki-onna on the preserve go through assessment tests, they realized that Yuko was the strongest. They took her in as a test subject, trying to figure out how to extract her DNA. Yuko thought they were ridiculous. How could they ever believe that what made all these creatures magical and inexplicable-- could be transfered and explained by something so human, something so basic, called science? She thought it was bull. She was never the quietest test subject. She may have killed five lab assistants and frozen countless more, especially that one creep that tried to touch her. He was so frozen in a solid block of unpermeable ice that they just had to have his funeral like that. Heh.

Even when the experiments hurt, Yuko never showed any pain or emotion besides hate and disdain. She refused to give these greedy humans any sense of satisfaction. She refused to speak to them unless she was cussing them out. These experiments fueled her already existing hate for humans and she was infamous among the researchers for being a pain in the to deal with.

Yuko was then transferred to Seoul, South Korea, where she was the first Yuki-onna to have DNA extracted and into another human being. Even after Yuko escapes, she refuses to talk to humans and has to be forced to make the tiniest of efforts to blend in. She likes to scare young men every once in awhile by revealing her true nature in forests just for the fun of it. If she sees any ual harassment, she pretty much freezes their heart. Yuko hates humans and believes all of them are ed up on the inside.

Trivia:

— Even though Yuko is basically a snow spirit, she hates the cold. She spends a fortune on hot packs once she found out humans invented those.
— Lived in Korea for a bit during the Japanese occupation when she found out her daughter's husband, a government official, was transferred there. She didn't really interact with her daughter, she just watched her from afar in a quiet village.

— She has a pet snow foxHis name is Aki.
— She loves coffee

— She likes spicy food bc it helps keep her warm and is a er for street food, especially in the winter.
— She hates summer though, it's too hot for her and then she just stays right next to the air conditioner with a cup of hot coffee. (She's weird like that.)
— Yuko is also a very talented artist.
— Yuko also has a major resting face.

I'm engraved in your heart; even when I die, we won't be torn apart

Family: She was disowned at the age of 15 for eloping with her "love." She then married that man and gave birth to five children: four sons and one baby girl. She had to give up the little girl when she became a yuki-onna, but she keeps tabs on all of her children and their children.

Friends: Yuko has a lot of pet animals she likes to spend time with and a few magical acquaintances at Mt. Tate, but besides that she doesn't mind being alone bc she's a total introvert.

Kim Minseok

Character Nickname(s):

Xiumin / his chinese name

Birthdate/Age: 03/26/1990; 26 years old

Birthplace: Guri-si. Kyunggido, South Korea

Hometown: Seoul, South Korea

Background:

Kim Minseok was born in the outskirts of Seoul near Guri-si and was raised in a middle class family. He had a fairly normal happy life with his little sister and parents. He received a soccer scholarship to attend the prestigious Peking University in China as an artchitecture student. His family happily sent him there and his little sister went on to Hanyang university after him in Korea. However, in his junior year, Xiumin injured his leg while playing for the school team and as a result lost his scholarship. There was no way his parents could pay for both their childrens' tuitions. Over that summer, Xiumin started working as a barista-- but it wasn't enough money.

[ENTERING EX'ACT] One day while walking home from work, he saw a flier. EX'ACT labs was searching for test subjects and the money they were offering as recompensation was beyond his college tuition. He knew it was sketchy and risky but he signed up. The first few years were normal. They gave him a whole bunch of assessment tests in groups and slowly and slowly, there were less people in the program. And as the amount of people decreased, they started asking them to do more dangerous things.

However, the pre-trials for selecting who would be the most compatible for the Yuki-onna gene took a year or two and Xiumin was able to graduate Peking with his degree. EX'ACT labs did not allow subjects to quit until they were dropped by the researchers or the end of the experiments, so without much choice, Xiumin kept going even after graduation. He graduated at the age of 22 (his architecture degree took him five years) and afterwards, he got a job in China while still participating in EX'ACT studies.

[FIRST INJECTION] Soon after his 24th birthday, they injected him with something. It made him so sick, he was having stomach pains, fevers, eye pain and nausea. They wouldn't let him leave HQ until he recovered and it took three months for him to fully recover while EX'ACT scrambled around trying to keep him alive, making corrections to the injection, giving him antibodies and medicine. That had to have been the closest thing to hell Minseok had ever experienced.

Meanwhile, his family in Korea was panicking. Where had their eldest son gone? Under contract, Xiumin wasn't allowed to talk about EX'ACT, and had his parents believing that he was working to pay his college tuition with his job as a barista and another scholarship.

Minseok eventually fully recovered. When he recovered they gave him another assessment test. Minseok could see things he had never been able to see before. He could hear, smell react faster than ever. He was also able to bench more than he ever had. Minseok had been injected with W207, the werewolf genome.

Minseok demanded to leave-- insisting that his family was probably worried about him, for he had been cooped up at HQ all the time. However, EX'ACT kind of shut him up by administering a second injection. Minseok thought they were literally trying to kill him. Although he wasn't as sick as long, the pain was much more intense. He was constantly cold-- no matter what he did he was cold. It felt like he was standing at the edge of the north pole. It felt like his veins were under ice and nitrates while his blood was boiling him alive.

[TRUTH IS REVEALED] After a week, he fully recovered and it was then he realized he could create frost with the tips of his fingers. EX'ACT finally told Minseok the purpose of the experiments and what Xiumin had been injected with.

Xiumin couldn't believe those creatures existed at first--- until he saw them with his very own eyes. EX'ACT showed him a werewolf and Yuko, the Yuki-onna they injected the genome from behind an observation glass (you can see out but not in). He couldn't believe his eyes. Xiumin wasn't too mad about what happened to him. He thinks it's kinda cool, but he is upset with EX'ACT with the way they handled the experiments and totally left him in the dark.

Xiumin was considered as one of the better behaved test subjects and after the injections was allowed to visit his family. However, little did he know, they used a magical creature to trick him, they used illusionist powers on him to keep him happy. Once he was told that and the fact that he was going to be a military weapon for EX'ACT societies, he knew he had to escape.

Personality:

— Amiable, enthusiastic, optimistic and considerate
Xiumin has never really experienced any severe hardship before EX'ACT and his sunny disposition does not change much even after the experiments. He puts other people first and is very accomodating. Although he's not the most outgoing person, he has this charm, this ability to make people feel at ease. Although he's not a cheerleader, he stays optimistic and believes that things will work out if you believe.
— Honest and fair
Minseok is an honest person and appreciates honesty. He gets frustrated with lies and people who lie. He plays the game by the book and expects other people to do the same. He sometimes gets really disappointed when others don't play fair because he believes that defeats the purpose and the meaning of it.
— Forgives way too easily, flexible
Xiumin cannot hold a grudge for his life. He rarely dislikes someone, much less the ability to dislike them for a long period of time. Sometimes he's too considerate and flexible to the point where he's idiotically selfless. He's a pretty flexible person and doesn't really mind which direction life is going becaue he knows how to adjust.
— Passionate and loyal
Xiumin is passionate, once he attaches himself to a cause, person or being, he pours all of his everything on it. He believes in his morals and values and is willing to do anything to follow them. However, after the experiments, Xiumin does become more distrustful and careful.
— Naive --> caution
Xiumin before the experiment is naive-- he doesn't really understand the ugliness behind humanity. However getting to know Yuko and understanding EX'ACT he starts becoming more cautious.
— Transparent
Xiumin's no. 1 recognizable trait would be that he is transparent. He makes no effort to conceal what he's feeling, what he's thinking and and what he will do. He's the type of person that's super predictable if you get to know him decently. He is open and candid about almost everything in his life.

Summary:
A frank and candid gentleman who somehow got wrapped up with EX'ACT to help pay for his college tuition after losing his soccer scholarship due to an injury. Injected with W207 and Y807, he finds out the institution he's trusted all these years was lying and just using him. He escapes with the rest of the crew to find justice for those the EX'ACT has wronged on their behalf.

Trivia:

Don't be afraid, love is the way.

Oh, the moment we become one; we'll be the lucky ones

First Meeting: The first time Xiumin saw Yuko was behind an observation glass in EX'ACT labs after Xiumin demanded the truth about EX'ACT. He couldn't believe magical creatures were real until seeing Yuko. They took him to see the Yuki-onna whose gene he had been injected with. He was too fascinated by the magical creature in front of him to realize that her being tied up in a magical straightjacket was inhumane. He only saw her for a few minutes but was entranced by her ethereal beauty to notice anything else.

The first time the two meet each other officially is when everyone escapes. Yuko didn't exactly hate him because he seemed nicer than most human boys, but she still kept clear away from him and all the boys. Xiumin wanted to get to know her more. (Yuko honestly really didn't.) She pushed away everyone from her, afraid she would get hurt again. However, Yuko had to teach Xiumin how to master his powers because although the boys had successful injections, all of them were disasters with their powers. As Yuko began to teach Xiumin, they got to know each other better.

Relationship: Yuko, after getting to know Xiumin thought he was kind of stupid. How could someone be so open about their feelings and be so selfless? What an idiot. He was just going to be swallowed whole by society later on anyways. However, his naivete was something so rare, that she found it interesting.

Although she keeps pushing him away, he keeps coming back, and at one point she accepts his company (stops actively avoiding him). She starts to secretly admire him for all the things that she doesn't have. Friends, trust, faith and hope. However, she doesn't want to taint him with her dreariness, so she just listens to whatever he has to say. Over time, he ends up becoming endearing to her. Xiumin notices that the corners of her lips begin to tweak upwards whenever he talks to her. Even though she doesn't really talk back to him; its enough for him. One day he even sees her smiling at him, and that's when he literally knows he has to have her.

Xiumin is better at observing her than Yuko gives him credit for. He has somewhat figured out that she at least likes him as a person. After all he's human, and a man and she tolerates him. But he wants her to realize that she may just like him too. So he stops talking to her and gives her the cold shoulder for a bit.

During this time Yuko can't help but wonder what she could have ever done wrong. Weeks pass and Yuko cannot stand it and addresses him. Xiumin then confessess, and Yuko realizes she not only missed him, but also liked him back as well. After they get together, Yuko lets all of her defenses down, starts expressing herself more and actually becomes more of a nag. She worries and fusses over Xiumin constantly and becomes a warmer person.

Conclusion: Feel free to write an even longer lover interest section that this! (preferred). I'm not using this OC, plotline or love interest in this story, so once I had good examples of the backgrounds (which was what I primarily wanted you guys to have a good example of), I let the love interest part pretty sparse, but feel free to get creative and detailed! Best of luck you guys!

You can call me monster; I'll be your lucky one

Note: Remember this is a sample app, you cannot use the ideas in this application, but feel free to use it as a reference/source of influence on your app. Remember that Xiumin is still open and that Yuki-onna isn't even an actual plotline in the story lol. Also please excuse the typos that are probably on here somewhere. My main objective was to showcase an example of backgrounds that flow really well with the chosen personality. Hope you can take all the hints on here and use them to your benefit! :D

Hi there!
I'm planning on applying for this applyfic but I noticed your note that said you were having trouble with the layout.
I'm a coder & I could help you out if you want? I recently made an applyfic layout that was inspired by Monster. I would even install it for you! If you don't want me to, I understand but I just thought I'd offer!
Here's the link to the layout in case you were interested!
http://www.asianfanfics.com/story/view/1116565/3/

I do have a question though, you said that you knew the app didn't really suit the dark feeling of the applyfic so I was wondering if I can use the one that I coded? As long as I had the necessary information?
