Rap Monster Controversy

Dear A.R.M.Y.'s of the world,

Before I begin, I'd like to discredit myself because I'm absolutely terrible at writing messages, and I'm even worse at writing letters. It seems like I'm doing both, but I feel as though my words should be said to clear up some of the controversy. I apologize if I step on any feet in response to my stance on this issue. I also don't mean to make assumptions, so please correct me if this is inaccurate in any way.

It has recently been brought to my attention that Rap Monster has been under criticism for some of BTS's content and tweets for falling under the category of misogyny. Some of the songs in question are: "Miss Right," "War of Hormone," "Converse High," and "Joke" for their questionable lyrics. Suga's pre-debut tweet has also fallen under scrutiny recently as well. Am I correct?

I respect that you all will have different opinions on this. I am also conscious of the fact that not all of you will agree with me. I am well aware of the prejudice that women face in this world today and understand where the misogyny started. However, it is not right to stereotype that most women feel these actions have been misogynous or done with misogynic intent.  I also confess that I have personally never felt any misogyny from this.

Regardless, Big Hit has sent us a statement in a sincere apology and Rap Monster has as well. So, A.R.M.Y.'s who still share a different opinion, please wait for future BTS content before deciding your opinion on BTS for yourself. Also, don't use this as persecuting evidence. Your comments have been taken into consideration, and even though the past will remain the past, you have shaped BTS into being more thoughtful in the future. I find it comforting to know that this group goes above and beyond for their fans and is willing to accept and grow on this.

My other A.R.M.Y.'s please understand both sides of the issue. They did what they saw fit- they fought for what they deemed right, and as human beings, it is only right to allow others to their own opinion. We are all fans of BTS, so it's not right to squabble amongst ourselves picking out  "true" fans. Instead we should welcome all views.

But, that doesn't mean to stop supporting Rap Monster. It hurts me to hear that Rap Monster has been worried about those who view him. Please, show your support and think about your hateful comments before you post. We all make mistakes, so why is this so different? I've seen my share of negative views, but I've also seen #hugnamjoon, #namjoonfighting, and countless other hashtags floating around. Even though we can't make everyone in the world happy, the most we can do is try.

So, what's left to do is step into the future. None of us will know what will happen then; we have prepared ourselves enough with this controversy. Let the argument rest. Through this time, and other times as well, Rap Monster has been a truly inspirational role-model and leader. He has done well, so let go of your animosity toward him. Continue supporting Rap Monster and the rest of BTS as they extend their love for their fans with their entire beings. So let's move on to a bright future with BTS. After all, you can't spell "A.R.M.Y." without "RM."

With much love,
A single A.R.M.Y. in this wide world

I don't have anything else to say since you pretty much said everything, but yes I hope people spread love to Namjoon because he's deeply regretful about this situation and reflecting over this, and just giving him negative words will hurt him even more. Please people, Namjoon is honestly the core of BTS so spread him with love and positive thoughts. I don't want my bias to be depressed over this, because he's honestly such a sensitive person and just giving him negativity won't help at all.
