MINANG_미낭 : no real meaning behind the name besides the fact that it carries sentimental value. it was what jinho used to call her before.... things happened. he used to use it all the time; even more than her actual name, and it was one of those kinds of names that mina liked the most. jinho still uses the name when they're together from time to time, but with less endearment.

FLUENT_한국어 : as a person of both korean ethnicity and nationality, korean is something mina is quite fluent in. it'd be embarrassing if not. and although mina did grow up using a satoori accent (coming from busan and all), she adapted to your average seoullite accent prior to her move there. satoori speaking is now limited to angry, lashed out swear fests... which kinda come often. :^ ))
CONVERSATIONAL_영어 : mina's parents were very strict on her when it came to school, so getting good at english was pretty essential. she's not fluent at it of course, but mina's definitely got a knack for pronunciation and understanding how to carry on a conversation if ever forced to be in one. that's what happens when english was one of your best subjects. it's also nice to throw in english profanities once in a while.

Elaboration. meet mina. a loud, -minded entp who's simple dream in life is to be at the top of the world, strumming obnoxiously on an electric guitar. just picture your everyday 15-year-old boy that has fantasies of becoming a rock-star; resulting in big fame, a ton of money and all the babes he can afford. that's mina in an almost literal sense, considering the fact that she's like 95% female (the other 5% being a beast of some sort) and constantly pms-ing. she's a big girl that runs her own world. and that usually means being stubborn as a ing ox. listen linda, if mina's not going to have her way, then by golly buddy, you'd better make room for yourself because this gal's ready to be getting in yours. i suppose you could say mina's... not the easiest to get along with. she talks back, makes snarky comments on your clothing and almost every conversation has to LITERALLY be about her if she's ever gonna be invested.. but, i mean, hey- girls who carry the rock-hard truth aren't so bad?? ? ? even if mina's the rock-hard truth-teller who is often intentioning harm for the sake of entertaining herself. mmmmmn if it helps, mina listens well??? SHE HAS A LOT TO SAY, I KNOW, but sometimes her advice can be pretty good. if you're coming at her with some sad romance story about how your boyfriend dumped you for all the wrong reasons, you can definitely count on mina to talk you into believing that you're better than what he left you with (and you probably are). she might toss you aside after an hour or two of petting your hair, cleaning your snotty af snot or whatever, but at least she isn't letting you cry alone like a big bang oetori loser. and i guess it kind of also depends on how you approach her, too. you attack her, she bites. you admire her, she brags. you a goody-two-shoes, she tolerates. and if you love her??? well, chances are she'll almost love you, too. if you're packed with a hot bod and face, then OH man, actually she might just go for you cuz she can. to get the point across... mina isn't one of your nice k-drama girls who let the lead guy pull her along. nah. she's the lead guy pulling you to all the great adventures in the world- why, and where? well, her heart is telling her what to do and it might be the only thing mina is ever willing to listen to... and if you're patient enough to get on her good side (it's kind of like the sweet, mushy, clingy inside bit of a burnt marshmallow; koalaing you and MAYBE TAKING ADVANTAGE BUT sweet still somehow) mina will get you to listen along with her. if you're lucky enough, along with your heart too.

• is put into violin lessons once she starts to form proper sentences

• why violin??? ? because the hong family needs more diversity than just playing the piano

• "father! i wanna be famous!" quotes a three-year-old mina

• put into day-care with other snotty kids and is often sent home because she's pushing kids around.

• is really bad at violin because she's far too impatient to recognize that she isn't playing it right

2007 [AGE 14]- 2010 [AGE 17]

LIFE AS YOU STRUGGLE.

• mina continues to fail at making any proper friends. not because they don't like her, but because they fear her for being so aggressive... .. .

• she only gains one or two "friends" through taking them to her house, where she treats them to good snacks, expensive games and pocket-money to spend when she's not around

• she drops the lackeys out of boredom. pays them $80 bucks each to just get away from her lol.

• mina drops a lot of things out of boredom. ending in a bored slump

• her parents are not impressed with mina sitting around at home, spending money online for clothes she never wears or on movies she watches alone at home

• father gives her about $100 bucks. "do something useful with it," he says. and mina scoffs, rubbing her nose. "whatever you say, father."

• she ends up spending it on some handsome guitar-teacher (she found an ad and only spent it so she could get a boyfriend)

• it doesn't happen. but what does happen is an accessive amount of guitar-playing at home. he teaches her the riffs. all the chords. every tab mina could ever possibly remember

• mina asks him on a date on her 16th birthday

• she plays a sad song on the guitar (but then gets happy, because she plays pretty, wonderfully well) and decides she'll just stay cute and single forever

2000 [AGE 7] - 2006 [AGE 13]

LIFE AS YOU GROW.

• attends the second grade

• favourite subjects include art and mathematics. least favourite subjects include english, even though she's good at it (swears at her seat-partner in english and gets in big ol' trouble for it) and pe because she doesn't do well with sports

• baby sister yuna is born on the day of mina's home-made violin recital. parents fail to arrive, and so mina performs "somewhere over the rainbow" for her house-keeper

• by age 10, mina joins her school orchestra; she's plays second violin, much to her dislike (because second violins don't get to play the melody sometimes... .. . . ..)

• at 12, mina graduates elementary at the third top of her class. she enters middle school bitterly knowing this and plans to crush the entire school with her academics

• by the time she's 13, she gets bored of that idea and simply presses on to become the best violinist in the world

• turns out her parents file for a divorce (something about not having enough time for each other.... it's boring... there's no point)

• yuna goes to live her with mother while mina and her father move to seoul

• her father gives her the talk about taking over the family business. mina laughs and tells him that she's definitely not going to do that. she's not going to college. she's not going into the business life. no, no

• "god no. far better than my mother, sir. i'm going to be a rock star."

• father clearly doesn't like that idea, and so she is given a choice: she stays living with him and pursues his life career, or leaves the house to become whatever the hell she wants

• mina chooses the latter; she finds a cheap apartment online, steals $700 from her dad's wallet and flees the following night

• she recieves a text from her dad in the morning.
"don't come running back empty-handed."

• somehow manages to score two jobs; one as a waitress another as a food-delivery girl. she hates driving a scooter, but sometimes she borrows it to take her places

• she finds herself an audition for a band called &LOVE. mina fails to pass, but meets jinho along the way (further explained in r/s section)

• mina gets a kitten along the way too!! jinho names her poppy.

• mina and jinho's unfortunate break-up occurs. mina now lives alone again (jinho decides to be the one to move out)

upon first meeting both mina and hyunjin don't really... hit it off too well. there's immediate tension between the two once they're in the same room; their conversations being a series of snarky fluency, and squinty-eyed glares. if jiyeon wasn't around these two might ACTUALLY be at each other's throats... it's happened once. mina mockingly threw at punch at him one time, striking him in the back of the head and hyunjin kicked her in the back of the leg when she tried to run away- which ended up like this after 15 mins. on a side note though, they work well as co-workers. because then they're allowed to voice their opinions and pretend that they're not saying anything personal. if anything, they're both good at snarking other people together :^ ))))

mina doesn't necessarily dislike jiyeon, but she doesn't necessarily like her either. the reason being is that mina finds jiyeon really pretty.. and mina wants to be the only one like that. she hates that jiyeon is the only one who can talk normally to hyunjin (in mina's mind, maybe she had a chance of being that person, but she remembers that BANG HYUNJIN IS SATAN so lol). she dislikes that jiyeon is a generally nice person and actually tolerates mina when she's around... or, is she just acting as if she is? when they're around each other, mina tries to intimidate jiyeon to her best ability. she stands tall, calls the girl short and puts on her greatest stank face... however, mina always gets a feeling in her stomach--- one that's telling her not to mess with the likes of song jiyeon, because she's seen that "smile" of hers before and the look in her eye when she says something wrong has her skin crawling... in the end, when mina thinks she's looking intimidating and all, she's looking more like a tsundere in front of their first love or something. nervous glances and lots of "hmphs". jiyeon on the other hand, simply smiles, patting the taller one on the back. "good work!"

since the beginning, yuna and mina have never been that close. despite the fact that yuna is always trying to get close to her sister, mina has always tried to push her away. mina's not sure what it is, but yuna's always gotten on her nerves. it could be because yuna's one of those perfect daughters (with the best grades and the "better talent"). it could be because yuna is so feminine and nice. could be because she's a cry-baby that just wants to get to know her sister. it just that yuna has mina as her older sister, because there's really nothing mina wants more than to have been an only child. truthfully, mina's just always been jealous of her pretty baby sister, and the way her parents cooed at her and praised her for everything she did. yuna's only 16, but she's already accomplished more than mina's had her entire 23 years.... and so, knowing this, mina gives her sister the right to the family throne, setting asail to be something cooler. freer. and farther away from her family as she can. because of this, yuna makes it habit to at least text her sister (to see if she's eating), but mina only sends her stickers in response. either that or nothing at all.

eating habits :

– mina doesn't eat a lot. she can easily eat as much as a meokbang star could, but in truth mina just likes eating in small portions throughout the day.
singing :
– she does it fairly well despite saying she's not a singer. it's probably because she hates singing in front of other people.... she'd much prefer others being wow'd by her finger skills.
sleep :
–  tends to sleep late due to work, practice and watching a -ton of running man lol
experience as a bassist :
–  while mina and jinho were dating, jinho would often give mina small bass lessons. she always joked about how jinho reminded her of the old guitar teacher that got away from her.

mina's a very average bass player, but with enough practice she could be one of the pros.
kpop & music :
–  isn't her style at all. she's not into the whole girl-group, boy-group thing... she's an aomg stan though. she considers them more of a hip-hop company than a kpop company. she's also really into indie bands that nobody ever knows.
poppy :
–  mina has a habit of talking to poppy..... . . like, a lot. she talks to poppy when she's feeling sad, anxious or happy; anytime she can and anytime she wants. mina even has a set voice for poppy too. it's high-pitched and terribly embarrassing. it's one of the things mina would never do around jinho. now that she's single again, she's been doing it more frequently.
acoustic vs electric :
–  mina owns two different guitars. a martin LX1E (that she has named maria), and a black gibson les paul studio (named garett and gifted to her by jinho). at home, mina prefers to play her acoustic for a more at-home relaxation sort of feel. on good days though, mina loves to noodle on her electric, because she loves the way it amps around the apartment, and the way joohyuk's girls get annoyed by how loud she can play.

HYUNJIN COUGHS INTO HIS HAND, "OKAAAY SO... HEY, UH MINA, YEAH UH NICE TO MEET YOU. SO, HOW THE HELL DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THE AUDITION?"

mina's picking at her nails. chewing on them actually. out of nervousness, more than just boredom. she's trying to look cool when she does it, too. trying to make it seem as if there isn't any nerves eating her insides because hell, she's been through this before. she's been rejected before. and she isn't sure if it's because she lacks the talent (she knows she has it, so it can't be that) or because of her attitude. mina knows she has one; a terrible one. she can already tell it's coming out by the way the two are looking at her. mina forces a smile, almost cringing. ugh. maybe it's time to change her actions.

"mmn. yeah. great to be here," her voice sounds so bored and uninterested, it's awkward even for mina to hear. "my friend told me about it. i don't know where he found out about it, but he did. and he brought it to me."

"WOW THAT'S GREAT." HE DEADPANS. MINA SCOFFS, HER TONGUE PRODDING IRRITABLY AT THE INSIDE OF HER CHEEK. WHO'S THIS ER? SHE THINKS, BROWS FURROWING AS SHE CROSSES ONE ARM OVER THE OTHER. JIYEON ELBOWS HYUNJIN SHARPLY "OUCH! – JIYEON– OKAY OKAY. UH... OH, WHAT MADE YOU AUDITION?"

"my friend. like i said, if you were kind of enough to listen," she eyes the male again, and she can see the way he's staring. he isn't happy. and mina's fine with that. "but, i'm guessing you mean 'what made you WANT to audition?', right? something on the lines of that?" mina huffs and begins gathering her hair into a ponytail, pulling a hair-tie away from her wrist. "simple. i want to go places. and if an opportunity like this is being thrown my way at 1:00 in the morning- sitting prettily in the living room, mind you," the one named jiyeon is raising her brow out of confusion. mina fails to explain what she means and presses on. "then of course, anything is going to make me audition. i made myself audition. jinho made me audition. you, in a way, have made me audition." she grins at them, letting the hair-tie snap lightly in place. hyunjin's nose scrunches.

"COOL. SO LIKE... CAN YOU EVEN PLAY AN INSTRUMENT? SING? WHAT CAN YOU OFFER THE BAND?"

"i play the guitar. acoustic, electric. yeah. i don't sing-" she leans back in her seat, eyes up at the ceiling and mina's face twists a little in thought. "well. i mean i sing. in the shower maybe, but yeah, no. i won't do that. i'm offering you hard work and fun, i guess," her lips smack together when her eyes return to them again. "i can offer support. opinions if you want them... or not. i'm an honest girl, so if i think something's wrong i'll definitely tell you." hyunjin opens his mouth to interject, but mina continues. "and look, i know i might go off rambling, but i know when i'm wrong too..." she waits to see if there's any commentary. jiyeon is just smiling at her. mina smiles back. "not gonna lie i'm just here to play good music and get the name out there. i just wanna go places, man."

"IS THAT ALL YOU CAN DO OR...? GOT ANY PARTY TRICKS OR SOMETHING, I DUNNO, ANY SPECIAL TALENTS?"

"oh!!! i'm really good at drinking!" she's laughing and hyunjin's going off about how that's not a talent. or even remotely close to a special one. "if it's special to me that's all that really matters."

"HAVE ANY DREAMS FOR YOURSELF AND THE BAND? GOT A GOAL MAYBE?"

"fame." the look on their faces are enough for mina to snort, and so she does. and so she laughs. "it's true though? fame! i dream of fame. and lots of money to spend. tons of fans. of course it's not all gonna be for me- i'm selfish, but not that selfish. you'll all get a share of the glory.. i can't gain all that on my own... like i said, i wanna go places. and i don't care if i'm stuck with people i don't like. that's life. that's business. if the people will have me, they'll have me."

"ALRIGHT, THAT SHOULD BE ALL–" "HYUNJIN, I HAVEN'T EVEN ASKED ANYTHING YET." "BUT YOU'RE JUST–" "SO, WHAT IS MUSIC TO YOU? WHAT KIND DO YOU LIKE?" SHE QUESTIONS, HAND OVER HYUNJIN'S MOUTH TO PREVENT HIM FROM PROTESTING.
