So, like the title says, I just went through my first ever real life fire situation at the apartment I live at.

I was sitting at the computer doing what I like to do on the internet when I heard the beeping of the fire alarm. At first I just thought they were testing it or whatever, but then I felt like I started to smell smoke, then next we (me, mom, and older brother) heard a guy outside yelling for everybody to get out, it really took me off guard. Apparently this guys was just some random dude too I think (I thought he had also lived here), according to what I heard my brother say, and he was on his way to work driving down our road and saw the smoke coming out of a window. So he just rushed in and helped to evacuate (thanks random guy). I went to look out my apartment door and there was so much smoke guys, my goodness, with everybody leaving. What had happened was, the apartment where the fire took place in (right across from ours) there was a grease fire with the stove while the guy was sleeping (he had complained about the oven before, but looks like nothing had been done about it…)

So we were pretty much standing outside for like 20 minutes or probably even more, waiting and watching as the fire department and paramedics did their thing. Then I went back inside with my mom to find our apartment filled to the brim with smoke. So we had to open up the windows and turn on the ceiling fan then leave to go back outside again (kinda really got tiring). And now I’m back inside and things are better.

The fire only occurred in the one guy’s apartment so no other damages were dealt, but the most important thing is that everybody seemed to be safe and alright. Smoke inhale wise, maybe some people needed to get checked about that, but physically on the outside, everybody looked fine which is good. I’m ok, my mom is fine, and so is my brother (I was starting to get a little worried at the start when going outside since we didn’t see him for a while; he was still kinda inside helping out and making sure everybody got out ok so that’s nice).

But man…what a crazy morning.
