「 恋にオタク 」구하루 is the aspiring mangaka ! !
“ GUBOM [ 구봄 ] — haru's online alias/pen name/username, which is used on her pixiv and twitter account; it's a mix between both of haru's first and last names. the "gu" depriving from, well, "gu", and the "bom" depriving from "haru" (haru translates to spring in japanese, while in korean it becomes bom). this is what haru wishes to go by when working on manga in the future.
“ (HARU) SENSEI [ 센세이 / 先生 ] — something haru is commonly referred to as in the club, due to mangaka's typically being called sensei by their assistants, editors and various fans. the honorific is also often attached with the artist's first, last name, pen name and/or alias !!!
“ GUGUBO, GUGU, GUBO, BOBO. . . [ 구구보 / 구구 / 구보 / 보보. . . ] — nicknames that are associated with haru's alias. her fans and mutuals have made the nicknaming a habit, and there are still some progressively being made.
languages :
“ 근데... 왜 넌 같은바보야? [ KRN ] — fluent; haru's first and native language !!!
“ マンガ家をなりたいんです! [ JPN ] — intermediate; average speaking skills, but writes well in it. she took the liberity of learning japanese hiragana and katakana on her own (through yes, anime, manga and several tutorials) to, perhaps, strengthen her future ability to study/work in japan as a manga artist. being able to read and write in japanese also aids haru to semi-communicate with other japanese artists online.
“ oh uh very much thanks.. [ ENG ] — mediocre; it's admittedly one of haru's worst subjects. she's never been able to get the flow right, or to correctly get the pronounciation down for that matter either. english in general has just always been a struggle for her. it's also probably because haru finds english a little boring and she because she hardly sees herself actually using it in the future.
the pretty guardian
okay, so meet gu haru, your average little tomboy that favors not only comics, but the idea of not growing up. wanna get a gist of her? well, first you'd have to find a way to creep into haru's realm... which isn't that difficult when all you really need to be is polite and friendly. i mean, haru's sort of a quiet girl. which sometimes configures as "approach gently and with caution", but really, just greet her with a smile and you're good to go. she's pretty easy to talk to anyways, you know with that soft, fuzzy kind of aura. yeah, she may not be much of a conversation starter and all that.. like, she's always drawing on her arms and forgets to make proper eye-contact and usually you're the only one talking when it comes between you two, but still!
keep fresh in mind that haru is a wonderful listener and will keep your precious infortmation noted so she can bring it up later. i guess the downside to haru, despite her gentle, almost princely sort of nature i suppose??, is that haru is still, if not heavily, sort of, kind of.. awkward. she struggles to grasp a confident voice; unable to properly speak her mind or advance in authority. she tends to find herself in situations where she's being pushed around, and being too scared to say something when someone (or herself) does wrong. you see, haru just strives to be a good kid. to be able to appeal to everyone's better nature; to be liked and acknowledged as a good friend and all that junk. her idea of that is being everybody's quiet little prince, who sees more life in his damsel than he does in himself.
gu haru's life isn't something you can call.. different. in fact gu haru's life may be just as average as any other; she grew up with one set of parents. a mom and a dad. she was also an only child that learned to depend on herself at an early age. her parents, who were often working early in the morning to later during the day, were hardly ever home. that's what happens when you have teachers for parents. you may be their child, but they have other children to teach apparently. because of this, haru spent a lot of her time alone at home. as early as the age of six, haru was able to do a majority of her chores on her own without the consultant of a babysitter around. she gained her parent's to stay home alone around the fresh age of ten (hurray for double digets!).
spending a bunch of time alone may have faltered haru... in a way. it caused her to be awkward around others (though she eventually eased out of that stage near the beginning of highschool). during classes and such it was always kind of hard for her to speak up, or engage in quick conversation. her eyes were always casted somewhere else or had her nose in her mathbook to finish her stray doodles from earlier. and since haru hardly made the effort to make that many friends, at one point, haru didn't have any. despite not having any though, haru still managed to be okay. she wasn't too worried about being a loner, and other kids didn't seem to mind that either (because no one bothered talking to her either). so, it was just haru and her sketchbooks. her inked-on wrists and scribbled up homework.
her world only opened up when she met chae hyungwon. a loud, snotty new kid that was infatuated with haru's strange ways of isolation. he meets haru during MIDDLE SCHOOL, all confident and proud. "do you like manga?" hyungwon questions loudly, and haru glances up at him with a quirk of her brow. "no," she says. "not really". and then suddenly she finds herself thrown into this world of black and white, textures and beta and screen-tones. "this!" hyungwon exclaims as they sit in his living room. "this! is manga. you should try it out. maybe draw it even," and he picked up her wrist. "you draw pretty well already!". from there, her world begins i guess. hyungwon's introduction to manga sparks her inner interest; soon she's trying to imitate and repeat various drawing methods. becomes drawn to the landscape, the shading... the stories. every bit of dialouge, every expression ever drawn. within days- weeks even, haru borrows manga and strives for something like it. a world full of story, in images and words.
it was something that haru found fascinating. better than plain doodles on her arms, or coming home to no one. she figured she could just.. re-draw herself like this. in a different story. in a different way; where someone's boring life, so un-eventful and empty could maybe be drawn into something... cool.

shin honseok may look the part, but princely is the least of his abilities. sure, give him credit for the 100-watt smile, and the wonderous amounts of charisma, but once you find the guy tripping all over himself, the whole prince thing begins to fade. just picture this. some real cool guy with an awesome sense of humor; he's super comfortable to be around and you know, seems really suave and perfect through every angle. but then suddenly, when you think things are just about to get better !!!!! boom. for some reason he's on the floor, clutching at the pain called a stubbed toe. then he looks up to see you, grins like he's seen the heavens and goes, "oh! don't mind me! i was just- falling for you, you see!".... ok. but srsly hoseok's a great guy to be around though. he's a moron, but he grows on you, because despite trying to act like he's the coolest guy around, he's a sweet-heart that does his best and secretly gets embarrassed out of the life of him.
TLDR : a lame prince that gets even shyer and lamer around the girl he likes.
background : it happens during break one day. haru is sitting in the library, doodling in her english text-book and quietly taking photos of students around her. hoseok is across the table in front of haru, and taking the oppuritunity, haru takes a photo of him... only to take a few more because god, he's one of the handsomest guys she's ever seen. later that day, haru is drawing up some muses, using a majority of hoseok's photos (and maybe she's oogling at him unknowingly) until hyunwon is sitting at her desk with a grin. "shin hoseok," he says and haru chooses to ignore him. "if you wanted a photo of hoseok you could have just asked me you know," "wonho!" hoseok says as he enters the classroom. "please, call me wonho. it sounds cooler than hoseok okay and--- wow, is.. that suppose to be me?" hoseok leaned over haru, and she scrambles to cover the drawing up. it's that day that haru learns, hyungwon is capable of making other friends. and one of them was this really handsome guy that haru wished she never noticed.
relationship : because hyungwon now insists on having both of her friends around him, hoseok has been around haru a lot more than she'd have like. nowadays he's joining them for meals and hang-outs that were hyungwon-invites only... and it's because of hoseok's prescence that haru can't seem to be herself. whenever he's around she gets really angtsy and nervous; she jolts whenever he talks or approaches her sometimes, and although she tries to pull it off with a smile, hoseok sees right through her. he thinks haru hates him actually, and because hoseok is persistent as , he keeps trying to get haru to like him. he pulls out a -load of skiship, goes chasing her down the halls with "haru! let's hang out!" or "haru! watch some uh kurosuji no haikyuu or whatever!". haru is also never one to say no (it's a curse really...) so she always ends up tagging along with him and that god-damn hyungwon keeps ditching them so they can be alone together.... haru is just struggling to keep herself sane. hoseok makes her insane. in a good way and she won't admit it. hoseok just wants haru to like him... as a friend he thinks, as he stares deeply into her eyes on day and curls a strand of hair over her ear-----
"were you always this cute" "what" "nothing who said that what"
— hyungwon ditches haru and hoseok when they're watching a movie @hoseok's place.... and it just happens to be a romcom and like haru and hoseok end up crying together and then laugh about it
— when haru and hoseok finally realize they have actual feelings for each other; haru is freaking out to the otaku crew and hoseok is like, " hyungwon i didnt me a n t o fall for haru like.... can... can i like her like" "hoseok r u dumb in practically giving her to you"
— confession !!!!! haru or hoseok accidentally says that they like the other and they just run away out of embarrassment lol or or or or hoseok is chasing haru one day bc she is so scared of liking him and hoseok is just like, "DO YOU HATE ME HARU?!??! PLS DONT HATE ME!!!!"
