Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself...

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give you all a little update on life, as well as a little advice.

I'm just back after quitting my part-time job. A jealous girl in my work, who was unhappy with the fact that she almost lost out on a promotion because I put my name forward for the same promotion, started spreading malicious rumours about me in my workplace. She then teamed up with a couple of the other employees , and a former employee (Who have all been best friends for almost 2 years) to get me in trouble in work. (I have evidence of their conversations conspiring to get me in trouble) I don't know if their intention was to get me fired, or if it was just an act of petty revenge because I threatened her position in the workplace, because thanks to me applying for the same job as her, she almost didn't get the position.

Either way, I made the decision to leave because I'm way too old to be dealing with the petty, childish behaviour of these kinds of people. I will not be a victim. Jobs may not be plentiful in this economy, but I will find another job, and those people will still be the same petty, childish people they are today. Karma is a , and they will get their punishment.

Never be afraid to do what you think is right. Don't worry about what other people will think about you, because in the long run, rumours will be forgotten, and in the end, no one really cares, especially when the next piece of gossip comes their way. Better to get yourself away from that type of environment, and find somewhere where you are valued as a person and don't need to deal with pathetic people that can't handle a bit of competition.

I know some people might think that I've made the wrong decision here, and that I should of stayed. But with that girl now in a position of power (and the type that would abuse it, especially considering the circumstances) I feel that I have made the right choice. For the next couple of months I will be focusing on my uni work and exams, then I will find another part time job.

Just had to get this off my chest guys. Thanks for reading.

I worked in a toxic team once. Most of the team were amazing and I'm really close friends with them all but there were two seniors who were at each others throats and dragging all our throats along with it. Those two went to the same school and the wise saying of "high school never ends" is very VERY true. Everyone in that team ended up leaving. The good and the bad. I'm the only one left behind and when I tried to leave the company proposed a salary hike which was pretty damn useful so I stayed. Currently every other department other than ours seems to be having the same toxicity and I find it a bit funny because when we were having all that trouble they all pointed fingers at us and made things worse making us look like the worst department in the company. Now no one functions as efficiently as ours while everyone beyond our doors is falling apart. Karma has its ways. But what I'm saying is whether you stayed or left it doesn't matter as long as it made you happy. The good ones who left are all doing well while I'm doing well too. Jobs are hard to find but for people who don't deal with drama it's not so hard to get offers. Chin up you'll do well.
