( When + why did you become an Sm rookie ) : i auditioned when i was 10 years old. I was really young but I don't think there was ever a time I even thought about doing anything else. i always had a huge passion for music. i practically grew up in the industry because of my parents, so it wasn't a surprise that I wanted to do music too. I think it was more of a surprise that I auditioned in grade school. (laughs to herself) I really look up to all the sunbaenims in SM so when I watch them perform, it really pushes me to do my best so I can debut really soon!!!

( elaboration ) : Yoojin is very confident so she never doubts herself when she performs. She has been training since she was 10 years old so she sees herself as experienced. She is very comfortable infront of the camera and isn't one to shy away. She loves people and she loves to laugh and make others laugh. She is the type of person to do something to lighten up the mood and eliminate any awkwardness. she doesn't get embarassed by the things she does even though it can be kind of weird and overexagerrated and isn't too worried about not looking pretty, even though sm usually tells her to calm down and keep her image in tact.  Although she is apart of the vocal line she loves to dance and will always jump in first to do some wierd and eccentric dance move in a dance off. She dances while she walks, she dances while she is sitting down, she even dances in the car. let's keep in mind her area of expertise is singing so her dancing is a bit awkward, very cute and entertaining to watch. She is very encouraging to her friends and groupmates and will always say "fighting!!" even to her competitors. during training time when monthly evaluations came around, she always left encouraging post it notes for the other trainees, especially new ones, because she knows that it can be nerve wreacking. 

 

yoojin loves to talk, and when I say talk, i mean TALK!! She can talk about literally anything and everything. She loves meeting new people and with her, there is no such thing as awkward silences. She can be a bit annoying because she talks during movies or shows and even wants to talk before going to bed. Her friends always tell her in a joking way "do you have a mute button?" she is also a bit spacey. She gets distracted easily especially during times when it is boring and quiet. when she can't talk and is having to watch and listen to someone else talk for a long period of time she will space out and just daydream. she didn't do that well academically for this reason. she is very hyperactive because of her bold and friendly persnnality. She loves being infront of the camera and is probably the member to hog the camera and try to get herself shown the most by doing crazy and funny things. because of her hyperactive personality, she can be a bit hard to handle and tiring to be around. she can also be a bit flirtatious. She is very friendly with people and she likes to laugh so it can be misunderstood as flirting to many. she loves skinship and even to her guy friends she isn't shy to hug them or hold onto their arm. the only good thing about being flirtatious is that she is good at fanservice and good at flirting with the camera but it could be misunderstood as greedy as she can often hog the spotlight while other members are in the back.  

 

( background ) : yoojin was born and raised in busan, sk. she lived in busan for about 10 years before she decided to audition for SM entertainment in 2008. her father is a classical composer and does a lot of music for orchestras and classical musicians. her mother use to be a performer. She starred in old musicials back in her twenties before she got married and decided to settle down with a family. She grew up around music and entertainment so ever since she was small, music was her life. she used to sing songs with her mother as her father played the piano. She used to get in trouble in grade school because she wouldn't do well in tests and space out during class lectures. she always said, "its okay. I'm going to be a singer anyways," 

 

she has two older brothers who are really protective over their baby sister. her oldest brother is a photographer while the other is in university studying business. they were really worried about her joining the music indstry because they didn't want her to be objectified and treated like an object to be bought with money and pretty clothes. 

 

her parents didn't want to push music onto Yoojin. They believed in choices so they were exceptionally surprised to find out that Yoojin wanted to audition for the biggest music agency in korea when she was only 10 years old. THey were worried because they didn't want her to be rejected and then be sad because getting into SM entertainment was really difficult. she told them that she wanted to dream big and shoot for the best and that if she didn't get in it would be okay because she atleast tried. They took her to sme and she auditioned. she auditioned with SNSD debut song "Into the new world" it was a bold song to sing. Although she wasn't super amazing, sm staff liked her tone and thought that she had a lot of personality when she performed. It also helped that she was pretty cute so she ended up passing the audition!! she spent the next 8 years improving and polishing vocally and taking dance lessons. 

 

She is currently a student at hanlim performing arts and has no plans on continuing her education after high school.

( Do you like the idea of there being 22 girls? ) : YEs! (lets out a laugh because there is an awkward long pause) I mean I like being around people so I don't mind that there are 22 girls. the more to shower me with love right?!!!

( With there being 22 girls, do you think you can rank #1? ) : I think everyone is very talented and has different things that makes them stand out But...... Im confident in my abilities. (laughs a bit) that doesn't make me sound cocky does it?   

( What kind of group do you think sm is creating? mini Snsd? female version of exo? etc ) : EXO-sunbaenms are really popular nowadays so I think SM is going to try and produce a girl group version of them.

( Could 22 girls debut in a group? ) : why not! big groups seem to be the trend in korea nowadays. the bigger the better right?!!

( Is there a rookie that you think will be hard to surpass?  ) : rookie #5. She is young and really pretty but she's also very talented. She can sing and dance really well! Shouldn't she be a soloist with that kind of talent?? (laughs to the camera) but I've been working really hard too, I'll put on memorable performances so my talent is recognized too!! "fighting!!!"

 

single and not looking because she is focusing on her career. but she is big fan of bts and her ideal type is park jimin who is y, cocky and alluring on stage, but probably cute and shy offstage. she thinks he is very attractive, has a great body and lots of charmisma on stage. he is an exceptional singer as well as dancer and isn't afraid to admit that she is his biggest fangirl. but that is it, she is just his fangirl.
