Let’s learn the Filipino language

A/N: Hey there, I’m doing this ‘coz I’m kind of bored and I want to spread my language to you people so that if ever you go here in the Philippines, you can also communicate to people using both English and Tagalog! Enjoy and I hope you find this useful.

SIMPLE WORDS/GREETINGS

GOOD MORNING – Magandang Umaga
GOOD AFTERNOON – Magandang Hapon
GOOD EVENING – Magandang Gabi

HOW ARE YOU? – Kamusta ka na?
I’M FINE – Ok lang naman/Ayos lang/Mabuti
AND YOU? – Ikaw?

ARE YOU HUNGRY? – Gutom ka ba?
YES – Oo
NO – Hindi

LET’S EAT – Kain tayo
I DON’T WANT TO – Ayoko
SURE – Sige

I LOVE YOU – Mahal kita/Mahal na mahal kita
I HATE YOU – Ayoko sayo (this also translates to ‘I don’t like you’)
I WANT YOU – Gusto kita (this also translates to ‘I like you’)

Okay then, I hope you found this useful. The best way to learn a language is to forget your fear and talk to someone who’s a native of that language. Practice makes perfect!

A tip: When buying in street shops in the Philippines, it’s best to bargain. For example, if you’re buying a bracelet which costs P100, you can bargain to buy 2 for P170-P180 or 3 for P265-P280. If you’re only buying one, you can bargain it to become P80. That depends though on how you say it. A little bit of PR also helps.
