appearance — Hyejoo stands at 164 cm with a naturally thin frame. Her fingers are long, which comes in handy when she plays instruments. She has a small birthmark on the right side of her stomach shaped like a crescent moon, and an actual tattoo that she got when she was 18 of a small crown right below the back of her neck. She also has a belly button piercing that she got spontaneously at 16, along with piercings on each of her ear lobes and a cartilage piercing on her left ear.
style — She tends to wear more monochromatic colors, like black, white, and grey. Hyejoo's favorite outfit is an oversized sweater and leggings with either boots or converse. She does like dressing up, but she tries her best to dress nicely and remain comfortable at the same time. So anything she can wear where it looks like she tried, even though she didn't, she'll gladly pick.

occupation — college student (majoring in fashion)
dreams — when hyejoo was five, her mother started letting her dress herself. she'd watch with awe as her mother explained to her what the trends at the time were, and she'd coordinate her outfit according to those trends. hyejoo, since five years old, had wanted to grow up to become a fashion designer like her mother. when her mother passed away, hyejoo's dream only grew bigger and bigger as she continued to yearn to follow in her mother's footsteps.

personality traits —
(
positive ) intelligent, good-natured, loyal, observant
(
neutral ) rational, analytical, forgiving
(
negative ) detached, dependent, cunning, sensitive
expansion —
[ intelligent, rational, analytical ] hyejoo is the type of student that everybody envies. she's naturally smart, and can get a high score on a test without even studying. but she doesn't not study just because of that. she still puts in the work she needs to get the grade she deserves. she just studies less than most people due to her natural ability to memorize about anything that comes her way. because of this advantage of hers, her way of thinking is different than everybody else's. she sees events in life as situations and problems she could or could not solve. she rarely jumps into anything because of her emotions, and she always has to think things through thoroughly before she makes a move. its like she sees life as a chess game, and she's always trying to be a few steps ahead.

[ cunning, good-natured, loyal ] no matter how cruel or cold she looks at moments, she does have morals as well. she hates cheating and using unfair ways to get something that others achieve through hard work. so if she ever catches one of her peers trying to use a dirty method to win a competition, or do better on a test, she always makes sure to come up with some kind of plan to get them to back down. whether it be publicly shaming them, or reporting an exaggerated story to the teachers, she knows exactly what cards she has in hand and how to play them. it gets worse when it's someone she's close to. if she ever sees any of her friends get hurt, the gears in her head are already turning to find some way to make sure the offender would never even think about hurting them again.

[ detached, dependent, sensitive ] because of her past, hyejoo doesn't know how to deal with complicated emotions such as love and hate. its hard for her to be emotionally invested into something because of how emotionally detached she became after that incident. she has this permanent blank expression on her face, and nobody could know what she's thinking by just looking at her. most of the time, everything's running through her mind. once she gets close to people, she gets attached and becomes unable to let go. this only encourages her dependency, another flaw in her personality that developed when her parents passed away. but at the same time, she's too scared to get her feelings hurt if she does get TOO attached. she's never sure if she should cling on, or let go.

[ observant, forgiving ] though it's a little harder for people to tell what she's thinking, she can easily tell how others are feeling. thanks to this, her friends always manage to end up near her when they realize they're in a bad mood, because she can tell right away without them having to say anything. if they need silent comfort, she's there to wrap her arms around them because she doesn't know how to comfort with words. she can also tell when someone has done something to wrong her. guilt is an expression she can detect quite easily. luckily for her friends, she's not the grudge holding type of girl. but she's only human. there's only so much she can handle, before she snaps as well. When that happens, her forgiving nature will fly out the window.

background — Kang Hyejoo was born three years before Kang Sunbin. The family's bond, since the children were born, had always been very close. Hyejoo's parents had always taught her the importance of family, and how she should always look out for her younger brother. They taught Sunbin the same thing, on how he should respect his sister and protect her as well. Being the obedient children, they listened carefully. If you the TV, you'd probably see a family similar to Hyejoo's. They were always laughing and smiling, never letting anything get them down.

When Hyejoo was 12, and Sunbin was 9, their parents died in a car crash. They had been in a taxi, when another car collided into it's side. Hyejoo had wrapped her thin arms around her brother as he cried, willing her tears away so she could be strong for him. She was the older one, after all. She only cried when she got home and made sure that Sunbin was asleep. Her father's sister took the two children in with a warm smile on her face. Hyejoo, even now, feels the most indebted towards her aunt and appreciates everything she gives her.

It was clear that Hyejoo was the older one until Sunbin started to enter his teen years. Family had always been an important thing to the two of them, but the siblings sometimes felt as if they only had each other, especially after their parents passed away. Sunbin started to become more like a really close best friend, rather than a little brother that she took care of fondly. Their relationship only grew closer and closer as they got older.

When it was time for Hyejoo to go to college, she told her aunt and uncle about the dream she wanted to follow. She had always respected her mother and looked up to her; she explained that to her guardians. Her aunt hadn't minded, but it took a while for her uncle to accept the idea of the smart girl doing something that risky for her career. He explicitly laid out all the disadvantages it'd have, and in the end, she firmly told him that no matter what, going into fashion was what she wanted. He could do nothing but accept it, and support her.

family —

Kang Hyejin | 43 | mother | they were close, since she was a large influence as to why hyejoo wanted to be in the fashion industry. hyejin's death greatly affected hyejoo, and willed her to work harder.

▪ Kang Joonyoung | 44 | father | the family had always been close anyways, but she had always liked joking around and teasing her dad. they were close, as well.

▪ Kang Sunbin | 18 | brother | they rely strongly on each other, so the two of them believe that no matter what 'blood is thicker than water'.

▪ Lee Minhee | 39 | aunt | she and sunbin both appreciate her more than anybody else for taking them in, so they're very loving and respectful towards her. she treats them as if they were her own kids.

▪ Lee
Hyunwoo | 42 | uncle | he's the strict parent that hyejoo never thought she'd have to have. though he does show his affections in other ways, so she knows he only acts strict because he cares for them.

friends —

▪ Nam Joohyuk | 21 | best friend | an aspiring model that Hyejoo frequently likes to work on. Since their dreams are slightly connected, they managed to get quite close. Hyejoo depends on Joohyuk to be there whether she's laughing or crying, and Joohyuk does the same for her. They've only been friends for two years, but it's felt like ten.

▪ Lim Sunhee | 20 | childhood friend | their friendship was too strong to break just because of a boy--though it did get a little awkward and strained for a few days. Hyejoo has been with Sunhee through her ups and downs, and has promised to be there for her for the rest of her life. Sunhee has promised her the same. Nothing can get in the way of their friendship, that's how strongly the two believe in each other.

you're my one and only sun.

love interest — Wonho/Shin Hoseok (Monsta X)

backup(s)  — Oh Sehun (EXO)

birthday & age  — 03/01/1993 & 22.

occupation — college student (majoring in photography)

personality
positive ) reliable, playful, caring, affectionate, optimistic
neutral ) stubborn, enthusiastic, possessive, outspoken
negative ) nosy, selfish, dependent, overconfident, hot-tempered

relationship — It's pretty complicated. Hyejoo goes around dating other guys to try and forget that she technically has a soulmate she has to date because frankly, she hates the idea of having the person she spends her future with decided just like that. On top of that, he was her former best friend's ex-boyfriend. He was the reason why they fell apart. She could never think about dating him easily after that. Hoseok, on the other hand, seems to have fallen head over heels for her. He already expressed his feelings to her, but she always pretends as if it had never happened. Hoseok occasionally goes around dating other girls just to get her attention, but ends up dropping them quickly because they're not /her/. He does small things to show his growing affections towards her; like leaving flowers on her desk and dragging her out on small dates. Hyejoo knows how she actually feels towards Hoseok--she does have a slight attraction towards him--but she shoots it all down quickly. Summarized, she's in denial while he's silently trying to pull her towards him.

tattoo & location  —
 —  hyejoo has a lengthy "sorry i think i fell for you" plastered onto her left wrist.
 — "don't touch me" is tattooed kindly on hoseok's right ankle.
Situation —
The first time Hoseok saw Hyejoo, he couldn't stop staring. He only tore his gaze away when his girlfriend, Sunhee, tugged at his hand, pulling him to the dining hall. She ran ahead with her friends as he took slow steps behind her. Like in one of those cliche dramas, someone crashed into him and sent him straight down to the ground.

A second later, his face met the floor and he looked up wide-eyed to Hyejoo's shocked expression. He opened his mouth to apologize, but apparently God wasn't done toying with him yet, because he spoke without thinking.

"Sorry, I think I fell for you."

Hyejoo nearly choked at how stupid the situation really was. Hoseok winced when he realized how bad his situation actually looked and quickly stumbled to stand up, putting a hand on her shoulder as she tried to walk away.

"Hang on, I'm--"

"Don't touch me."

She pushed his hand off her shoulder and brushed it off, as if him touching her had left some sort of germ on her skin. She shivered and stalked off. His shoulders slumped as he watched her leave; it seemed as if she had taken a part of his heart with her as well. He remembered those familiar words that were permanently stuck onto his skin.
She constantly scratched at the words, praying for them to come off somehow. So when she heard the line spill from some random college student's lips, she immediately reacted with hostility.

Through a friend, Hoseok found out that Hyejoo was actually close friends with his girlfriend. Sunhee started to follow his gaze when he stopped paying attention to their conversations. She watched as her boyfriend fell out of love and started to make heart eyes at one of her best friends.

Hoseok walked into one of Hyejoo's morning classes with a hand rubbing his bruised cheek and tugged her out forcefully. She didn't protest, though she did pull an ice pack out of her lunch box and place it on his cheek once they were out from other people's view.

"My girlfriend broke up with me because I realized you were my soul mate, and I can't stop staring at you, so now you have to date me for compensation."

"Start working for things."

Thus, starting their push and pull game where Hyejoo goes around dating other boys to try and forget about the words tattooed on her wrist as Hoseok watches and occasionally tries to get her back by dating other girls.

it's okay to fall.
