end of summer // ito katsurou

ito katsurou
Nicknames »
— Katsu / His older sister calls him this due to it being the shortened version of his name, as well as the fact that he's a fan of Chicken Katsu.
Birthday » April 17 + 18
Birthplace » Tokyo, Japan.
Hometown » Tokyo, Japan.
Ethnicity » Japanese
Languages »
— Japanese / Fluent.

— English / Intermediate.
Appearance & Style » Katsurou is quite slim, yet reasonably tall at 177 cm - He's tall enough to tower over about two thirds of the people at school, but he's definitely not the tallest in his year. Much slimmer than what he'd usually be if he was still a runner, Katsurou is about 59 kg due to not being able to work out as much since his leg is still a bit of a mess from the fall that he had taken during his first year. (At least he can jog again though, even if it's relatively short distances.) With a head full of dark, wavy, brown hair, green eyes, and a somewhat tan complexion, Katsurou is a good looking kid - He'd be even better looking if he smiled more.
At school, Katsurou wears the school's gakuran style uniform with matching canvas shoes. When not in school, he's usually found wearing skinny jeans, sweaters, and button-downs - many of which are in darker pastel colors or shades of blues and greens. For Stride, he wears black shorts, long-sleeve shirt, leg braces, and a dark blue jacket with the company that is endorsing them's logo across the back and front of it.

student description
Personality Traits » Dour, Sensitive, Serious, Tenacious, Critical, Pessimistic
Personality »
— Most see Katsurou as this terribly serious, yet pessimistic guy that does nothing but snark at people and the things in life. Especially since has a habit of being a little too sarcastic and is someone that likes having the last word, so some may think the guy's either a little mean or too negative about things. However, as much as he is a little too serious and critical at times, especially since he's quite the perfectionist and is a bit of a hardass, especially to those in the Stride club, he's a lot more sensitive than he lets on. So much so that some may forget he has feelings too or that he's truly not as terrible as people like to make him out to be, because as much as he's sarcastic, snarky, and hard on those around him, he's just as hard on himself, if not more so. So despite his dour personality, he's really not that bad. He's just not someone that likes to lean on others for help - He's too stubborn for his own good.
Background »
— Up until freshman year of high school, Katsurou was a runner - a rather good one at that with his track record of being one of the best in the 15 and under league, but all of that had changed when he and a fellow third year partook in a bad relay during their team's second to final match. Eru Shunsuke, a third year, who was being a runner and relationer at the time, made a bad call and the two had ended up colliding into each other. The resulting collision and tumble afterwards - a tumble that had led the two down a relatively small hill and cliff, both had gotten hurt. Except, Katsurou had taken the brunt of the damage and had broken his leg in two places - an open fracture in his tibia and a compound fracture of his ankle. The injury had been severe enough that it had kept him from being a runner in the Stride scene ever since. And as much as therapy had helped him with getting him back onto his feet, it's still painful enough that anything more than a light jog is not really doable.

— However, despite being unable to run Stride anymore, Katsurou has taken to becoming the best relationer in the league, as well helping out the rest of the members with their training. But with too little runners and just not having people with enough interest to keep at it, let alone join, since other sports like basketball and football are quite a bit popular, the team hasn't been able to do much. It's a little annoying that the team has been away from the Stride scene, but Katsurou hasn't given up on having enough people join and compete again.
Relationships »
— Ito Kou | Sister | Exuberant and a bit crazy - overbearing, but extremely intelligent and someone that can read people quite easily. | Katsurou gets along with his sister quite well since the two of them have been living together for the past couple of years and Katsurou is thankful that Kou has been there to keep him company and cared for. Especially since more often than not, their parents are usually outside of the country, traveling the world, while sending money to their children every month instead of going home. So as much as Kou can be a bit crazy and overbearing, she's always been there for him and she's really good at dealing with him and the mood swings he has from time to time. Because as much as he's coped with not being able to run stride, that doesn't mean he doesn't feel depressed and down about the changes that have occurred. Plus, Kou usually gives decent advice, so Katsurou is thankful for that, even if Kou sometimes likes to from time to time.
Trivia »
— Despite not having been in the Stride scene for a while, quite a few schools know or are intrigued by Katsurou's skills. Because when he could run, he was one of the better runners on the team and just knowing how serious he was about the sport, his skills/talent must have transfered over to his position as a relationer.

— He's allergic to strawberries/strawberry-based products... It's a travesty, but at least he's not deathly allergic. Usually he just gets sick and will have to visit the porcelain god for a couple of hours.
— He likes to go shopping and will usually spend money on clothes and coffee/tea based products. He likes earl gray lattes and caramel macchiatos.
— His favorite subject is math, while his least favorite subject is economics. He also likes the sciences as well, but he excels at math, so he likes it the most.
— He doesn't have a preferred type of person that he likes... He's never really had time to really like anyone, so it's a toss up on what uality he really is.

strive club interview
How interested are you when it comes to Stride? How did you get involved in it? How long have you've been training for? »
— "One minute, got to finish this." Katsurou mutters as he looks through the sports magazine in front of him, mentally taking notes on the health/fitness related articles that may help the team. Only for a minute or so to pass before he finally looks up to answer, "Childhood, friends, and about ten years now. Anything else you need to know? Like what my favorite color is? What I like to do in my free time? I really don't have the time for this...Especially since no one told me that I'd be stuck doing interviews as if I'm a piece of meat for the paparazzi - Don't you have any runners to interview?".
What are your strengths and weaknesses? »
— "No comment." Katsurou answers, unwilling to say much else. Especially since he wasn't fond of the idea of other teams knowing that type of thing - They already knew that his bum leg had caused him to give up his dream of being a runner, they didnt need to know anything more than that... Especially if he wanted his team to beat them... If only he had a team though. "Ask some better questions or I'm leaving so I can read this magazine in peace."
What are your thoughts on End of Summer? Do you have any expectations for it?
»
— "It's my last year to do it... And I don't have anything else to say, so let's end this here for now."
