APPEARNCE ah, the topic lee woonmyeong avoids the most. her skin was a little darker than the rest of her friends, so a lot of her schoolmates a lot, saying she's ugly and all (you know, because asians think that the fairer the skin, the prettier). she couldn't grow up as tall as other kids her age. for some reason. while her friends can reach 160 cm and up, woonmyeong stopped growing at 155 cm. she has jet black hair that she grows as long as possible even though she always ended up cutting it when it reaches her waist. and as it's pretty complicated to manage long hairs, she usually braided her hair into a single, plain rapunzel braid. she has bright green eyes, as a result of elphaba's presence inside her, so she uses brown contacts just so she wouldn't be teased. her self-esteem is pretty low thanks to everything she's been through, so she usually walks with her shoulders scrunched up and her head hung low.
FASHION the problem is that: she has no sense of style. like, I'm not even joking. when you peek into her closet, you'll feel as if you're back in the days of black and white tv. there is not a single color visible in there everywhere! woonmyeong always wears monochromatic colors: black, white, and grey, because she wants to play safe. I mean, who can go wrong with those colors, really? as much as she wants to play around with fashion like any other kids her age, she realizes that it's better to be safe than sorry. she can't risk coming out of the house in horrible fashion and have people laughing at her and insulting her. she's had enough. so she only relies on the basics: tees, plain blouses, jeans, plain skirts, yeah all the plain stuff. the only accesory she'd wear is the school's cap only if she has to or her white wool beanie in the winter. and don't even ask about makeup. the closest to one she's ever worn was when she was 5 and her schoolmates for her dark skin, so she ran home (not noticing that her looking-glass reacted and reflected blinding lights to the teasing boys), barged into her mother's dresser, and put on as much white powder on her face as she could to conceal her dark skin. it didn't work.

▾ insecure: growing up under so much pressure and unfortunate conditions, woonmyeong grew to always doubt herself. was she good enough for this? was she good enough for that? can she do this? what will that person think if she says that? will that person like her? was she worth it? woonmyeong's days and nights were consisted mainly out of questions about what she was worth and what she was not. but the conclusions are always clear: she wasn't worth it. she never was. and it doesn't help that nobody really told her otherwise; not herself, not her conscience, not her family, and certainly not everyone else. she was inferior to other people who are actually normal. she was a misfit, she was a freak, she was different, and certainly not in a good way. that's what she (and everyone else) thinks, so it must be true... right? that's why woonmyeong always viewed herself as an inferior. she never dared to talk, wish, expect, and try, because she knew she would fail. not that she knew firsthand, but... isn't that pretty obvious?
▾ sensitive: if a person never cries, does that mean she has no emotion? my answer is no, because lee woonmyeong is the proof. even though she has never shed a tear all her life (yes, even when she was a baby. half witch, remember? it's possible), and even though it seems like she bears every insult and every mean word just fine, the truth is that it still scars her. everytime someone would call her a freak, everytime her parents would blame her for her sister's death all over again, she'd stay still, completely quiet, even when inside, it slits her soul slowly, painfully. and even when it may seem like nothing, each instance cut a little deeper, and leaving larger wounds that wreck her soul. there was a certain trauma that she hid deep down inside that made her highly sensitive to insults and deaths. and aside from her, it seems like even her conscience has traumas on those aspects as well. even so, woonmyeong has never planned on sharing it with anyone (except her conscience. elphaba always knows even when woonmyeong never says a thing). she wasn't sure if even her closest friend would want to listen to her problems, and she was afraid that it would backfire on her. she'd had enough of the trauma where people she cared about turned their backs on her, and the thought that it might happen again haunts her deep down, however much she tried to just focus on the present.
▾ loyal: woonmyeong only ever had very few people who actually care about her.she had her parents once, but they turned back on her. she had her sweet little sister ahreum once too, but she's no longer now, although she still left a huge scar in woonmyeong's heart. and then now there's her idiotic, nonsensical group of friends; the squad. okay, maybe not so idiotic, but it's just that they were all so different in terms of looks, background, personality, and life stories. one thing that bonded them together though, was the fact that they were all freaks; different, and somehow isolated from the world around them. oddly, that was what woonmyeong loved the most about them. because that way, she could sense that they sincerely cared for her out of mutual experiences. and woonmyeong wasn't planning on turning backs on them. not like she turned backs on anyone before. lee woonmyeong rarely loves. she rarely cares. but when she does, she'll give it her all. she'll never turn her back on anyone she cared about; in fact, she'll do anything, absolutely anything for them. even if it means pushing herself through the limits and at some point might endanger her entire existence. that's one thing she has in common with elphaba anyway: being loyal to her friends... one thing lee woonmyeong absolutely hates, though, is when somebody tries to do any harm to people she cared about. if that ever happens, well... she'll turn into a completely different person. when her emotions take over, lee woonmyeong possesses unimaginable powers in her hand, thanks to her weapon and token, and she will not hesitate to use it. she doesn't care about people who never care for her, so even when she has to tear someone apart limb by limb, as long as she was doing it for someone she cares about, she'll do it without even batting an eyelash.
▾ present-day-oriented: let what is passed be the past, what is about to come be the future, and now be the present. that's her life motto. thanks to her conscience, the one and only elphaba, woonmyeong learned that the only thing you have to worry about is not the past (although traumas can't exactly be helped), not the future, but the present time. woonmyeong learned to live the moment and enjoy it. she learned to not be afraid of what was to come; she'll have to trust future woonmyeong to solve that. the only thing present woonmyeong has to do is face what is in front of her and she'll be fine.
BACKGROUND
▾ ^all her life, woonmyeong never once experienced the care of any other household. her mother was a victim who once attempted to seek justice from Donghwa's ministry of justice, but found none, just because the person who her had a strong backup while she herself had none. fortunately, during the trials (which she eventually lost in), she met a man who symphatized with her. his name was judge lee. when her baby was born, she knew she couldn't bear to stay in Donghwa, nor could she ever feed her baby with the amenities she deserved. so she made a choice. she left her few days old baby on judge lee's doorsteps, knowing that he was already married for a few years with his wife but she's still yet to bear a child. the couple happily accepted the task, not caring that their new baby was a crime result to begin with, but at least they have a child now. they named the baby 'woonmyeong', which means 'destiny', hoping that someday, this pitiful child will find her own destiny in the world.
growing up as the 'kid who's mother was ' in the bunch wasn't easy. since the first day she was brought to Donghwa, people who saw her mainly would snicker at her adoptive parents for their foolishness in taking this dirty child in. yet, mr and mrs lee never retreated, and loved woonmyeong like their own daughter. although we all know that alone wouldn't be enough. growing up under the snickers, disgust, and weird looks from other people, little woonmyeong grew to doubt herself. no matter how much her parents told her that she was worth it and that she didn't need to listen to what those people say. woonmyeong never cried, however. not once in her life. maybe it comes with elphaba's presence within her, I don't know. but she has survived this long while breaking the record of never shedding any teardrops. and she wasn't planning to break that record. she did came close to tears a few times, but that voice in the back of her head always managed to stop her from doing so. it would say "those people are right, your mother was . you are a freak. those are not insults; they're speaking the truth,". okay, so maybe not the best encouragement, but oddly, it always worked wonders in teaching woonmyeong not to care, and to accept who she was, that her grade was lower than other normal people's, and not expect people to speak of her higher than what she actually is.
when woonmyeong was only a couple years old, the lees finally got a child of their own. she was called lee seonnyeo (which, by the way, means 'fairy'). a very pretty child, and an awful contrast to her adoptive sister. but getting such a pretty baby now fortunately didn't decrease the amount of love her adoptive parents gave her. they still loved her as much. only now they had to divide their attention to the new baby too.
another 2 years later, when woonmyeong was a mere 4 year old, the lees welcomed another baby girl. this time called lee ahreum (which means 'beautiful'). as at that time woonmyeong was quite old enough to bear a few small responsibilities, her parents often trusted ahreum in woonmyeong's care as she didn't really mind babysitting her new baby sister. and boy, babysitting never felt better for 4 year old woonmyeong. because while other people and other kids out there would snicker at her, ahreum was the complete opposite. she seemed to be stuck like strong glue to woonmyeong, and was always smiling when woonmyeong was around. ahreum was her only friend growing up back in the days, and woonmyeong could never be more thankful. that is before an unfortunate incident happened.
when woonmyeong was 9, and ahreum was 5, their parents had told woonmyeong to watch over ahreum at home while they went out to take 7 year old seonnyeo to the doctor for regular checkup. ahreum, as always, ran around and played gleefully, with woonmyeong watching over her, biting back a smile. at one point, ahreum started whining for milk, so woonmyeong went away to make some, leaving ahreum on her own while telling her to stay put. bad idea, because little ahreum was as curious as a cat, and while her sister made her milk, she decided to find some other things on her own, and leading herself into her mother's personal office (and by 'office' I mean 'lab') where all sorts of chemical stuff and weird pipes exist. ahreum was greatly fascinated by these things, and she wandered around here and there, trying to reach this glass and that bottle, until her eyes stopped at a bottle of pink stuff. her eyes immediately lit up, as she thought it was strawberry milk. she grabbed it and drank it, only to find out that it was not strawberry milk. it was some kind of chemical substance and it resulted in a major heart attack. as expected, when woonmyeong came back with ahreum's milk, the only thing she found was her sister's lifeless body. their parents were shocked when they came home and found that ahreum had died. they were both sad and angry at the same time, and finally saw what a huge mistake they've done by taking woonmyeong in from the start. they pushed all the blame to woonmyeong, and not like she could resist anyway. they grew to see her in a different light, and grew extreme hatred toward this ungrateful girl who killed their precious daughter.
from that day on, woonmyeong lived that life. she lost all love in her life, with even her whole family hating on her now and all, always putting the blame for ahreum's death at her. woonmyeong could only keep silent with only her conscience accompanying her at all times. woonmyeong didn't blame herself for ahreum's death. she believed she did nothing wrong, and that when and how people die is already decided by the heavens, so if ahreum died, that means her time is up. but of course, her family wouldn't accept that so woonmyeong only kept silent while praying that all of this would be over soon.
her life got relatively better after she met her 5 new best friends though. although she didn't dare to wish that they'll stay with her forever, her conscience told her that she shouldn't worry about the future now. what matters is that the squad was willing to befriend her now. if eventually they'll decide to leave her, that's future woonmyeong's problem, not hers. as of now, the only thing she can do is enjoy the moment.

ADOPTIVE PARENT RELATION
▾ ( lee hyungjun (47); judge; responsible, wise, selfish, power-thirst; 2 ) woonmyeong rarely sees him around. he is always at work! even if he was home, he'd be fawning over seonnyeo and completely ignoring woonmyeong.
▾ ( kim soonae (45); chemistry teacher; organized, sociable, temperamental, subjective; 3 ) same as her husband, soonae basically only sees woonmyeong when she makes a mistake. woonmyeong has long stopped trying to make her happy after she realized that her adoptive mother simply dislikes her.
▾ ( lee seonnyeo (18); student; ambitious, oblivious, independent, goal-oriented; 3 ) seonnyeo never knew why her parents disliked woonmyeong so much, but she decoded to not really care. it wasn't her business anyway. although they live under ther same roof, woonmyeong and seonnyeo are basically strangers
▾ ( lee ahreum (16 if alive. 5 when she died); n/a; innocent, blunt, spoiled, caring; 9 ) ahreum was born when woonmyeong was 4. oh, those times when she still knew what it was like to be loved. baby ahreum basically grew up in little woonmyeong's care, resulting in the severe bond that tied them together like strong glue. ahreum was spoiled, loved generously by everyone in the house. she only saw the beauty of the world and sparkled in her childhood innocence. woonmyeong values ahreum more than her own life, adding the fact that still being the 'kid-whose-mother-was-' in the hood, none of the kids ever wanted to befriend her, and even her own little sister seonnyeo cried a lot for having a sister like her. at those critical times, only ahreum would smile her sweetest smile at her. and woonmyeong appreciated that. when ahreaum died, the pain of bearing the blame wasn't even the tiniest snippet of what loss she felt. if anyone felt the saddest, it was woonmyeong.
THE #SQUAD ▾ woonmyeong joined the squad when she was 9. it was only a few weeks after ahreum's death and woonmyeong was still very, very sad and shocked. being in one of the darkest times in her life, woonmyeong just wanted to be alone. no, she's not gonna cry... she was just going to kill herself. yeah, you've read that right. so what happened was after her sister ahreum died and her whole adoptive family turned back on her, woonmyeong got tired of her life and decided that she wanted to follow ahreum to heaven (wherever that is). and the only way she could do that is by drinking this weird purple-ish liquid she has in her hand (which, by the way, she made herself by pouring in random red liquid that she found in her mother's chemical collection, mixed with some other random blue liquid to create a purple one). she had seen her mother when she broke down, spouting nonsense about how she wanted to follow ahreum to heaven by drinking a purple liquid (which is obviously a vial of poison), in which her other family members forbade her to. but nobody was going to stop woonmyeong now. so she opened the juice container where she placed the purple liquid in. as she closed her eyes and was about to drink, she heard a voice "wow, what a hoooooooooot day!". she opened her eyes to see a boy around her age, wiping off sweat from his forehead, complaining about the weather when he saw her and her juice bottle. his entire face lit up. he ran to the expressionless woonmyeong. "hey, you don't mind if I drink this, right?" he said. and without waiting for her answer, he took the juice bottle from her, and drank it all in one go. woonmyeong tried to stop him but it was too late. thankfully, that boy didn't die. he only turned purple for 5 hours. like, really purple. he had just drank the first vial of potion lee woonmyeong has ever made.
after that incident, that boy introduced her to his fine group of friends, who eventually welcomed her as a part of the group. woonmyeong is always thankful for this bunch of idiots' presence in her life. although she doesn't talk much and would always just stand there awkwardly during every conversation, she likes to listen to her friends' nonchalant chatters and can't help but to feel thankful that they're willing to accept her. although at the end of the day, she always reminds herself not to expect too much and to not be surprised if ever these good friends decided that she just wasn't good enough and dump her. just like what her own family did.
