Hey guys, so I just got finished reading this book when I got the inspiration. I wrote a poem and if you guys could comment on it to let me know what you think I just might turn it into this Contest. I think I kind of need to build my confidence in writing lol

[Freewrite] My Heart is Your Home

The sound of silence echoes in this empty room. This memory of you suffocates my thoughts, refusing me my peace of mind. I let you go physically, yet mentally your grace intoxicates me. I'm left of your memory, and hounded by this state of reverie, your smile and scent just can't seem to leave my senses. I got tired of holding on because the more I did the more pain it caused me. Like a tug of war, the harder I pulled the more my hands would blister and you would fight harder and harder to not be by my side. So to end both of our misery I let go as you fell to the ground. You fell only to stand back up, dust off your freed hands and walked away. Walked away from my bated breath. Walked away from all of our memories. You took you and your things. Your being has left, yet your memories still live inside me. The way you walk, talk, and breathe all live inside me. I opened the door to my mind and heart to let you out, but like a settler you stayed and refused to leave. I yell to kick you out but as stubborn as you've always been, even in my weakened heart you stay. You stay as if there's no place you'd rather be. You stay as if the world outside is too cold of a place for you to walk in, and my heart is the only place to keep you warm. Too bad it isn't really you but just the memory. The thought makes me cold like my the heart you've left me with.
