How to get more readers for your story

Hi guys. I got a lot of questions about this subject. Here are some clues I ot from my experiene.

1. The foreword:

-  Keep it clear. Not too many pictures, if the readers have a slow connection it will take forever to load it.

-  If you really want pictures than ask for characters chart in one of the graphic shops out here.

-  Don't use many fornts or colors. Usually the normal font and 12 size text works great.

- The background, keep it simple. A uni color and the story's name+ author are enough to not bother the reader's eyes.

-  For some readers the poster is a catch and will make them want to read.

-  A trailer is a big plus.

-  Don't reveil your story from the start, let them imagine what will go on.

2. The title:

- Use unique titles not the random ones like " I got married with ..." " We had a baby..."  " I hate Mr jerk" or so on. What is the point to read a story if you already know the end?

3. The chapters:

 -  If english isn't your first language, ask a beta reader or another author to help you edit.

-   Leave two lines between the paragraphs - this way it will be easier to read.

-  Don't use only dialogue without naration or too much description , that is a minus- the readers will get bored.

4.  The plot:

Let's face it, most of us don't have in mind all the chapters when they start a story. Just follow your main idea.

Leave clues and space to twist the story.

Read the story's comments and surprise your readers.

Avoid smoked plots like the Oc is bullied and she falls in love with the bad guy.

If you really want a cliche plot than add something to make your readers follow your idea.

At the end of the chapter don't leave a long author note in which you explain why it took you so long to update and stuff like that because they either skip it or get bored.

Don't advertise your other stories unless it is in the end/author thanks chapter.

A cliffhanger it's a big plus.

5. Advertise your story:

To do so, press on the tag of your main character/couple. A list of stories will appear. Select subscribers. The stories with most subs will show. Look at the other tags and see which is close to your plot/genre. Press on a story then on the subs under the title. Some of those readers will at least give your story a try since they like the same genre. When you adv on their wall look at their last log in, that way you will know if they are active or not.

6. Answer back part of the comments. Give a clue and let the readers guess.

And use famous characters or mark your story as subscribers-only. It will also help. ^^
