Jiyoon is actually Lovelyz's Seo Jisoo's younger sister. she was born on november 19, 1996 in incheon, south korea. she was born in a rather well-off family. her father is a businessman who owns a few grocery stores around the city, while her mother is a linguistics teacher. when she was 5, her parents divorced. her father brought her to the philippines where they managed her grandparents' business. but she was allowed to contact her family in south korea. her father spoiled her with everything she wanted to have. jiyoon grew really close to her father than he sometimes needs to remind her to call her mother and sister. jiyoon had a hard time fitting in because of the language barrier but she was glad her father enrolled her in an international school where she learned english and chinese. because of her friendly nature, she finally had many friends. she had excelled in language and music. 

jiyoon is a naturally born dancer and singer. ever since she was a kid, she had always watched her sister danced and sing. her parents had always been proud of her because even when she was just 4, she can sing songs without even cracking and she could even dance along with her sister. luckily, when they transferred to the philippines her father enrolled her in an international school which offers music and dance lessons every saturday which she never skips.  

when she was 15, kpop's popularity in the philippines was undeniable. she declared to herself that one day she'll be an idol. she had called her sister just to know that her sister is already training in woollim. she asked her father if she could join her sister in becoming an idol, she did not expect her father to allow her and even shared a good news. they're both coming back to south korea.

upon arriving at south korea, she tried auditioning for cube and sment but they both rejected her because they say she lack in vocal skills but excelled in her dancing. but she was actually confident of her singing skills that she almost gave up but her sister told her not to give up because she knows she can do it. then jisoo suggested her to enter woollim.

jiyoon auditioned in woollim as suggested by her sister. the panelist were actually harsh towards her because she's a trainee's sister. but she did not give up, she did her best on the auditions with her whole family supporting her. the panelist were actually impressed with her skills. it was two weeks before she received the news that she was accepted in woollim. 

jiyoon studied in hanlim multi arts high school as a transferee. she wasn't the best student but she was working hard. she had a lot of friends but she's picky with whom she fully trusts. she joined a few clubs and is always asked to be an mc for the events in schools because the languages she knows especially when there are international visitors.

She chose to forego college and focus on training.

How did they meet? 

she was introduced by IM to Seventeen. everyone was glad to finally meet her especially that one specific person (wonwoo). he immediately found her attractive. junghan told joshua and hansol that the girl also speaks english and filipino. wonwoo remembered one filipino phrase and blurted it out, "mahal kita." jiyoon's eyes widened at wonwoo and asked him if he knew the meaning of the word. wonwoo shook his head. "it means 'i love you'," jiyoon replied. wonwoo was taken aback by what he heard and became embarrassed, he never knew he would accidentally confess because of a phrase he just remembered and it turned out to be like that. junghan and the others laughed at wonwoo's silliness and made the guy ran around the practice room like some crazy man but jiyoon told him that's it's okay. the members and jiyoon talked, wonwoo found the girl's personality really bright and he liked her even more.

What is their relationship like? 

 wonwoo did not know about jiyoon's past relationship and started texting her as soon as he got her number from junghan. it was a few months before jiyoon broke up with lee dongmin. he started acting sweet and caring around her and would treat her lunch whenever he wanted to. jiyoon never thought that wonwoo was like that because he likes her. wonwoo would sometimes fetch her after her training because he also became great friends with jiyoon's sister who turned out to be a friend of his cousin.

jiyoon finally opened the topic about her having a boyfriend, of course wonwoo was taken aback but he chose not to stop being sweet and caring towards jiyoon just because she already have a boyfriend. by the time, jiyoon broke up with lee dongmin because of her upcoming debut, wonwoo was the one who comforted jiyoon aside from junghan. he would try his best to make her forget about dongmin and treated her to her favorite restaurants, to lotte world, to water parks and everywhere she wanted to.

he was the one who makes jiyoon special even if dongmin was not around. he treated her like his princess. she grew fond of him and is really comfortable around him.they would talk on the phone for hours and text each other in the morning and before going to bed. she was thankful that he was there when she broke up with her ex.

wonwoo continued fetching her after her training not until seventeen became the busy one because of their debut.he became protective of her and told some of his fans that she's just a great friend to seventeen when some rumors about them being together came out. she became the one who would bring food for the members and wonwoo, that was when she realized she was falling for him. when seventeen debuted,

wonwoo got less time to spend with jiyoon but the two of them never stopped texting and calling each other. wonwoo fell harder for her because she knew how to make him smile despite the busy days he got and her effort to send him a text everyday and sometimes even going to seventeen's performance disguised as a fan.sometimes seventeen doubted wonwoo when he told them that he doesn't feel something about the girl because they always see them too comfortable with each other, wonwoo backhugging jiyoon, jiyoon clinging to wonwoo, wonwoo giving her a piggyback and the fact that the two of them had matching shirts.

now that she had debuted, they could not meet as often as before because a lot of people would recognized them. but because it is know that wonwoo already announced her being just a close friend, fans did not mind seeing them once or twice when they eat together and sometimes they bring junghan with them to avoid any rumors.
