✕ king : due to his past in the ring, as well as being quite the fighter, yohan got this name from his winning streak. because winning meant more money and more money got him closer to what he had wanted in life. however, one of the other candidates find out about this part of his past and try to use it to get a rise out of him, since they want to get rid of him in the competition. but it doesn't do much to yohan since he really had no qualms about his past when it had came to his participation there. but since a lot of people don't really look at that kind of scene kindly, it's not a wonder why it was used to make fun of him. however, if the other had knew about the darker aspects of his past, then maybe they would have something.

APPEARANCE yohan is average in height at 177 cm and is quite slender, but his slenderness hides his strength and the impact of his punches. no one is thinking that a boy with an idol's weight of 58 kg can bench press at least twice his weight or punch through an inch of concrete. yohan looks unimposing, but he's deadly and filled with a silent rage that sometimes radiates off of him like a physical entity. with dark tan skin from working in the sun on his family's salt farms as a teenager - essentially forced into slavery at a young age; to learn discipline is what his family had said - yohan is much darker than most of his peers. and with hair as red as blood, usually tossled and styled up, away from his face, yohan doesn't look like your normal gentlemen - or fellow rich person, but then again, he's not even rich anymore, so maybe it's fitting. but to each their own with their style, since he's sure that type of thing has nothing to do with being a gentlemen. underneath his clothes though, yohan has a body filled with scars and some skin damage due to his time in the salt fields.
STYLE black, black, and more black. yohan does not do color, unless it's his hair (he has no reason for it, but he had thought the change would be good since he felt like he needed something new and he's kept it that color ever since because it seems fitting to him). because as much as some may think he looks like the grim reaper with all the black that he wears, yohan takes comfort in that shade. and while grays and whites/creams may accompany it, yohan sticks to what he likes. and what he likes is black clothes - but he does have a certain style with the various leather jackets that he wears, usually paired with skinny jeans (yes, he does have a couple pairs of blue jeans, dark wash though) and a tee of some sort. during the winter months, yohan will opt to wear sweaters instead of t-shirts. scarf, gloves, and hat - usually a beanie, will also be worn.

✕ unlike most rich kids that have been born with silver spoons in their mouths and crowns on their heads, yohan's living situation had been a bit different. sure, things may have started the same with the private lessons and all of the tutors that his family had gotten him - national scholars teaching him math, english, science, etc..., renowned classical pianists teaching him piano, and learning how to fight under grand masters - yohan being forced to undergo training to not only better himself, but to make his family look good, and yohan had made his family look good with how fast he had taken things, naturally gifted in the sciences and being a bit of a prodigy when it came to judo and kung fu, things didn't stay that way. because once he had turned fifteen, a new world had been opened up to yohan - but it hadn't been a kind world. it had been a cruel one; a world filled with hardship and a lack of human rights - fundamental rights that should have never been taken away from him.

✕ but not knowing what to do to get out of said situation, especially since he had been constantly watched as he was forced to work with little pay, little food, and was even put into a shack without decent facilities, yohan had to suffer two years of his family's abuse. and if yohan didn't do the work to his family's standards, then yohan had been punished. either forced into isolation or beaten... the beatings had been leagues above isolation, even if he had a few scars from them. because isolation was a scary thing and even the strongest of men crumpled underneath that type of thing, especially since isolation was him being forced into a foot wide cavern that only allowed standing room. and to be forced into that for days at a time, yohan had been eventually forced into compliance. while working on the fields had been a hell in itself as well, especially since he had been forced to work 18 hour days with little breaks and food. and with him still being 15-16 at the time, his growth had been stunted and he had went hungry more often than not since he was never given enough food for his growing body. the workers had been given just enough to keep them working and not completely waste away and that's as much as what yohan had received as well. work was tough and yohan usually doesn't like remembering his time there.

✕ one would think that kay would be the one to find him, especially since he's the strong one of the group, at least with fighting skills. but that obviously didn't happen and it was merlin instead. and while some may wonder how, it's a pretty boring story - at least compared to everything else in yohan's life. because the two had actually met through one of yohan's other jobs - his coffee shop gig that he had. because samjin and yohan became friends during samjin's need for late night coffee. and since yohan usually did the graveyeard shift working at the one of the only coffee shops that was open 24 hours - yohan usually working late at night when barely anyone ordered coffee, samjin had seen him do his homework many times whenever he had come in to get his nightly fix.

MENTOR samjin. 30. it's a little odd going from friends to a mentor-mentee relationship, but samjin has tried to balance friendship with mentorship when it comes to yohan. the two are still able to talk about science and technology, especially since yohan has taken an interest in some of the gadgets that kingsmen get. never mind the gadgets circulating the base since those are quite advanced and interesting as well. but it's understandable that yohan has become a bit more guarded since becoming a candidate, especially since he doesn't want any of his secrets to get out, let alone be used against him. and while samjin may be someone that he could trust, yohan doesn't really know about merlin just yet. and if word did get out about his family and their doings, would any of the kingsmen stop what they're doing or would they just ignore it like how the police have been ignoring it. do they even know? yohan doesn't know, but he's afraid to find out and he's definitely afraid to see what samjin would say about everything. especially with its' relation to him. but for right now, yohan tries to keep their conversations on things that he can talk about like math or training. (but the two have a slow bromance developing since yohan does see samjin as the hyung type.)
MENTOR kay, 27, yohan respects kihyung a lot - like of the three, kihyung was the one to gain his respect the fastest. because when you can fight like kihyung can, yohan already knows who his better is. and while it'd be cool for him to fight said man, he knows that he's not ready - at last not yet. but beside that, yohan's still a bit formal towards him - he's formal with everyone sans samjin, but you can just hear the respect in his voice when he addresses kihyung, but kihyung genuinely likes him due to his work ethic and strength. kihyung can tell that yohan has had a tough life and because of that, kihyung respects him a lot more than some of the other candidates - at least the snobby/ ones that sound like brats.

MENTOR kay, 27, yohan respects kihyung a lot - like of the three, kihyung was the one to gain his respect the fastest. because when you can fight like kihyung can, yohan already knows who his better is. and while it'd be cool for him to fight said man, he knows that he's not ready - at last not yet. but beside that, yohan's still a bit formal towards him - he's formal with everyone sans samjin, but you can just hear the respect in his voice when he addresses kihyung, but kihyung genuinely likes him due to his work ethic and strength. kihyung can tell that yohan has had a tough life and because of that, kihyung respects him a lot more than some of the other candidates - at least the snobby/ ones that sound like brats.

okay, due to yohan's backstory, i didn't want him to be misunderstood as a character, so i supplemented a lot of things to make him easier to understand if needed. i know you were probably looking for less in the personality traits section, but i thought the extra details would help you with picturing him and how much his past has affected him. the character description is mostly a summary, as well as my attempt to actually write it as if it was information off a case file. so hopefully i didn't overstep my boundaries with these things - i just wanted to make sure that yohan was fully developed and that i wasn't leaving you with any big questions. however, if there is anything that you'd need me to clarify or expand on, i can do so.
