She thinks her parents are just too afraid of losing her but behind all of that they are actually a traditional people at heart. They believed the history of Azalea and everything that had happen in Azalea including curses and those old days stuff. The day Evie was born, an old lady came up to her parents and gave them a riddle.

Being the traditional minded people that they are, they believed her (plus she looks like the evil queen in snow white when she changes into an old lady). Ever since Evie is a kid, she have never tasted freedom. She tried to understand her parents intention of keeping her under strict supervision but she could never understand.

In the end, when her 18th birthday party had pass, the old lady didn't come so they thought it is safe to let her explore the world but still they are doubtful about Evie going out there without them. She is allowed to go out but she need to prove herself that she'll be okay by herself. Her dad will only pay for her rent and she agreed to it hastily knowing that she'll be fine.

They kind of have this love-hate relationship between them. She loves her dad but the fact that he kept her safe by imprisoning her in the house is quite an absurd thing. She always wants an explanation as to why they're keeping her in the confine of her house for most of her life until now.
