LET'S COVER THE BASICS

Name: Park Dami
Stage name: Dami
Nicknames: (let it be known: Dami HATES nicknames)

Mimi - by her groupmates when trying to be endearing. She tolerates this because she knows the intent behind it...doesn't change the fact she dislikes it.

Country Sunshine - used by some labelmates and around the company when Dami is being particularly 'stick in the mud' like. Sunshine for obvious reasons, and the 'country' is tacked on as Dami speaks in Jeju dialect when annoyed or around others who do. Again, she dislikes this, but is too polite to refute it too fiercely.

Damopin - in reference to her piano playing. It's a play on "Dami" and "Chopin". It was coined during a talent expo in her trainee days, and those that remember it still sometimes refer to her this way.

Age: 19
Date of Birth: 02-Sept-1996

Ethnicity: Korean
Birthplace: Jeju-do, South Korea
Residency: Gangnam-gu Seoul, South Korea - 4 years

Languages:
  • Korean | Fluent | Native | While Dami does speak in Seoul dialect most of the time, she grew up speaking the Jeju dialect. As such, sometimes she slips into this when speaking too quickly. And she will always speak this when talking with her father and step mother.

  • Mandarin | Semi-Fluent | 15 years | Her step mother is from China and has been with Dami since she was 4 years old. She's been speaking it with her step-mother since then (her father is fairly fluent as well). However, she has difficulty reading and writing the language.

Specialties:

Impersonating other singers - because she is so observant, for fun she is often asked to 'sing like so and so'...and she can do it. She mimicks their mannerisms, facial expressions, etc. She also can match their singing style fairly well. The funniest ones are where she imitates a rapper or male idol.

Staring contests, 'of course' games, etc - if you ever need a game where someone needs to keep a stone face, Dami is excellent. It is really difficult to break her poker face, even with games like the peppero game...even if afterwards she is embarassed and will hide her face for quite some time after.

Piano - Dami learned the piano as part of his music lessons, and is quite a good player. She has become known for singing and playing at the same time.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Background
Dami was born to a music teacher mother and chef father in 96. Eventually there would be an accident that would take her mother's life when Dami was barely 2 years old. Growing up in Jeju, life was uneventful until her father met Li Anling.Anling was leading a group of tourists from China, and had often visited the island. Soon, a romance started, and Dami had a new step mother, and a year later, a new brother.

While island life was uneventful, Dami was given every opportunity to succeed and be happy. Though for the most part she was encouraged to be a carefree child, Dami found herself choosing to stay home and care for the house, cooking, cleaning, and helping with her little brother. Anling never discouraged this, and the two are very close to this day. But it was during this time that Anling discovered little Dami loved to sing. She would skip around the house, doing chores, and singing a little tune. Intrigued, Anling decided to enroll six year old Dami in piano lessons. Dami seemed to love music, and continued to sing while she played songs on the piano. Her father often mentioned how Dami resembled her mother more and more as she grew older and continued to play. Eventually, Anling and Minjun found a vocal coach and Dami began to receive singing lessons.

Dami had always been a quiet girl, even with the music, and would have been content with peaceful life on Jeju had her father not had bigger ambitions. He managed to purchase a lot in Seoul, and planned on opening a branch of his resturant there. Thus, at almost 15 the Park family packed up and moved to Seoul.

Initially, Dami is homesick. She doesn't care for the big city life, and isn't fast to befriend anyone. She is simply too reserved. But her mother and father continue to push her to pursue music as she had shown increasing talent in the field. The found her another private music school to attend after regular classes and cram school. She was a vice president of the music club in school, performed in a musical at her school, and eventually gave a performance at a recital when she had just turned 16. She performed and sang at the same time, without knowing there was a rep from Cube in the crowd (they were there watching their own niece perform).

A few days later, Dami received a call from the rep that they wanted Dami to come in and do a proper audition. They were impressed by her at the recital, and wanted to see if she could impress in person as well. With her parents and brother's encouragement, Dami went and impressed Cube enough to gain entry as a trainee.

Dami threw herself into her training, having been given a chance at debut. While she initially wasn't doing it for herself (Dami was much more content at being a normal person), she believed in the faith her family had in her skill. She wasn't going to let them down until she had given it her all. Eventually, she found she was making friends and acquaintances with others around her as she now was with others who shared her interests and desires. It didn't hurt that she got a taste of the limelight, and never wanted that feeling of invigoration to go away. Thus, Dami trained as hard as she could. While not a perfect dancer, she was a technical one who could do well once she knew the choreography. And she continued to work on emoting moe through her voice.

Finally, it seemed like her hard work would pay off as she was told she would be debuting with Cube's new group.

Family

  • Park Minjun | 52 | Father | Alive | Owner of "Noodle Park", a small business in Seoul | Minjun is a lively, bright gentleman. He is almost the exact opposite of his daughter. In fact, some say Dami acts the way she does because she has to be the 'mature' one in the family. While this may seem like the case, Minjun is a resposible person who works hard to support his family. Dami recognizes this, and though sometimes she seems exasperated with him, she greatly respects him.

  • Kim Yujin | na | Mother | Deceased | na | Her birth mother. She passed away when Dami was only two years old, so Dami doesn't have many memories of her.Pictures show that Dami resembles her greatly. Some say her parents were already on the rocks before her accident. She passed away after falling down some stairs at her work. Dami always says she wished she knew her better since her father, depsite the fact that their marriage was falling apart, only says good things about her.

  • Li Anling | 48 | Step-Mother | Alive | Korean/Mandarin Tutor | Anling met and married Minjun while she was working in Korea as a translator for a tour group. She has always been nothing but loving to Dami, and Dami considers her her 'mother'. She's the one who taught Dami Mandarin. A diligent, composed woman, she is a nice contrast to Minjun. As a mother, she is supportive and doting. She's the one who discovered Dami;s musicality, and encouraged it.

  • Park Junhee | 16 | Brother | Alive | Student/trainee at Cube | Junhee is Dami's little half brother, the child of Minjun and Anling. He is definitely more like their fatheR: free spirited and easy going. Like his sister, he hopes to be a singer one day, and joined Cube Entertaiment a year ago. While not as skilled musically as Dami, Junhee has a charisma and strong dance background. The pair are close, and Dami looks out for him whenever she can (brings him food, gives him tips, etc). She also chides him frequently since he is a hot tempered boy.

THE FACE BEHIND THE MASK

Personality Traits: Passive, mature, polite, stoic, mechanical, forthright.

Mature, calm, and cool Dami. That's how everyone views her around the company, and later the fans at first glance. And it's true. Dami is one of the calmest, most even tempered people you could meet. Not much gets under her skin, and even less seems to sway her to go to the 'dark side'. Some would even call her a goody two shoes. Have a curfew? Dami will beat it by five minutes. Can go beyond the rope? Okay, Dami will wait here.

Hardly considered excitable, Dami is sometimes called a robot by people. Even if it's just teasing, it's not too far from the truth. While others cheer and squeal over things they love, Dami usually just smiles a little and acts gracious. It's not that she doesn't like it: she doesn't want to appear like a child. In fact, she wants to be viewed as an adult. In her family, she was always the rational one who needed to be mature about situations (sans her step mom...but even then, sometimes Dami wonders...). But by being this way, Dami can actually be a little boring. The company tries to combat this by getting her to do aegyo and other cute things on air, but it's a point of contention for Dami. She actually can be annoyed by those who exhibit too much aegyo or loud, foolhardiness.

Passive, you won't see Dami taking the lead in most things. She would rather sit back and observe, before joining in. Thus, it's difficult to determine what Dami is passionate about. This has made her developing social relationships difficult as she has problems when it comes to communicating her desires and needs. And Dami is far too polite to call someone out if they do wrong her. It's not worth getting into a fight with someone over something they had no idea about.

But this doesn't come with perks. Even if people are surprised she is a youngest, Dami carries herself with grace and maturity. She can be relied upon to do what is right, and to do it correctly.  She's the kind of girl you want to bring home to your parents because you know she will be nothing but polite and kind to them. Also, Dami will help others whenever she can. Need help learning a dance? She may not do it well, but Dami will help as much as she can. Hungry? Dami is tired, but lets see what we have i nthe kitchen.

Underneath, Dami really does have feelings like any other young girl. But in her mind, she must be a mature adult about everything. You won't see Dami cry; not becuase she doesn't want to, but because she thinks it doesn't matter. Despite her maturity in most situations, Dami lacks a certain emotional maturity to acknowledge her wants and needs, and that it's okay to be selfish.

Likes:

  • Noodle dishes (ramen, soups, stir fried noodles, etc. Her father used to cook at home all the time, so this is nostalgic for her.)
  • Coffee and expresso - (Dami jokes she needs an IV of this to function. She's been drinking coffee from an early age despite her family's attempts to dissuade her. It started as her simply liking the bitter taste, but now she says she needs it to fuel her caffeine addiction.)
  • Animals - (her family has three dogs at home, and used to have a cat before it passed away when she was 17. One of the few times you will get Dami to be excited and happy is to present her an animal she can play with.)
  • Flowers - (her step mom kept a flower garden when they had a yard, so Dami has fond memories of flowers. She can even tell you the language of flowers if you ask her).
  • Late mornings (she hates being woken up, so Dami loves days where she can lounge and wake up at her leisure).

Dislikes:

  • Sports (Dami has never been athletically inclined)
  • Sugary sweets - (she'd much rather have fruit or more mild desserts if anything. She simply dislikes super sweet things)
  • Aegyo - (she hates doing it, and will cringe when anyone in her group does it.)
  • Winter (Boooo to the cold she says: boooo!)
  • Long car rides - (she gets motion sick...this also translate into her disliing boat rides and carnival rides).

Hobbies:

  • Piano and violin - (she already knows how to play the piano, but is the stages of learning violin as well).
  • Watching musicals (she loves musicals and has aspirations to be in one one day herself).
  • Baking - (While Dami is a good cook, she is better at baking and making sweets. She may not like them, but she'll share once she's done cooking).
  • She's a closet Otome/Dating Sim game fan, and will play them on her phone.

Habits:

  • Will switch into Jeju accent when frustrated or overly excited.
  • Dami is difficult to wake up in the morning, and is particularly grumpy. The quickest way to have her calm down is to present her a cup of coffee and let her be until she's finished it.
  • Despite her insistance she doesn't have aegyo, her groupmates realize that sometimes Dami will refer to herself in third person when overly excited. It's adorable, and they like to about it. Dami hates it.
  • She also blushes very easily.
  • Dami always has honey around the dorm/living space. She takes a spoonful every monring to help with . Whether it works or not, she doesn't know.
  • When nervous, Dami fiddles with the ends of her hair, and has a habit of not looking people in the eye.
  • She tends to mutter to herself a lot when at the dorm. Usually she's going over a mental checklist of things or tasks.
  • Dami eats when she's hungry: it doesn't matter what time it's at. That being said, her food choices are usually fruit or veggies since she has to keep an eye on her figure.

Pet Peeves:

  • Nicknames
  • Messy Kitchens
  • Being requested or otherwise forced to do 'maknae' things (ie: "Be cute! Do aegyo!"). She is happy to help out and do her part as the youngest, but damnit she doesn't know how to be cute! DX She's the responsible, elder child in her family, so being the 'baby' of the group is difficult for her.
  • When her younger mindset does come out, and she is teased about acting like a maknae. (ie: fangirling a little, liking cute things, whining when she doesn;t mean to...)

YOU'RE MINE.

LOVE INTEREST

Name: Son Dongwo
on

Group: Beast

Personality: The maknae of Beast is known as the tall, handsome member in charge of some vocals. However, Dongwoon, despite appearances, is still quite a 'maknae': he's a mood maker who maintains peace with his groupmates when they are angry, and acts cute to get what he wants from them. He can be quite silly and immature when the situation calls for it. He is also clumsy and awkward, sometimes finding himself embarassed or otherwise compromised when forced to compete in more physical activities likes sports.

But under this is a very intelligent young man. He is very considerate of his friends and family, often pushing himself above and beyond to be better so as not to burden them. He is one of the few people you'll meet that seem like he is genuinely grateful for what he has. Despite his tall, mature image, Dongwoon is an open book that expresses himself freely.

How they met: They met shortly after Dami joined the company. She was only 16 at the time, but was a Beast fan for quite some time. She says her favorite member was Doojoon. She thought he was very cool. However, Dami was wandering the building one day after getting lost looking for a restroom shortly after being accepted as a trainee: she and her father had come to sign the contracts and make arrangements(reality: she got lost). She was far too embarassed to ask anyone for directions.

She must have looked panicked because eventually someone tapped her on the shoulder. It was Dongwoon. He asked her if she was okay (he could tell she was wandering aimlessly). Casually she tried to play off her confusion, and asked if he could point her in the direction of the main office. Instead of making her walk alone, he offered to lead her there. The pair had a brief conversation where he found out she would be a trainee soon. He wished her luck and told her to not give up before leaving her by her father who had come out looking for her.

"Who was that?"

"My future husband..."

"What?"

"What?"

"You said-"

"Dad, I didn't say anything. Are we ready to go?"

"But...I...uh, okay..."

They wouldn't meet again until she was announced to be debuting. The group was introduced to the other senior groups (4Minute, BtoB, Beast, etc), and Dongwoon immediately said, ":Oh, you're the one who got lost that day."

From there, they kept a good senior-junior relationship.

Interactions: Intially, Dongwoon treats Dami like a junior and is always there to offer her encouraging words when she looks a little down. Unlike others, for some reason or another, he can tell what's going on through her head without words just by seeing her face. Dami finds this very bizarre: Dongwoon just finds it funny that she is so flabergasted by this. For Dami, before debut, she is smitten. Quietly so, but she is enamoured by him in a way she didn't expect. Despite appearing calm and collected, she is secretly fangirling on the inside when he's around.

After debut, Dongwoon begins to acknowledge Dami's talents, and the pair actually bond over being an 'unexpected maknae'. Dami's initial fangirling actually subsides once she understands the hard work an idol has to go through to be in the industry. She is concerned about her success, and feels that acting like a lovelorn girl would actually be detrimental. Instead, she accepts that they can be friendly, and even if she is five years his junior, she hopes he can view her skils as equal one day. Unfortunately, the fact that Dongwoon ius five years her senior does make her think he only sees her as a little sister. She brushes off her feelings as silly little girl emotions, and tries to move on.

What she doesn't know is that he's begining to develop affections for her too. He is impressed by her maturity and genuinely good persona, even if she is a little mechanical and gloomy at times. It actually makes him really happy when he realizes she seems happier whenever he comes around.

BACK-UP LOVE INTEREST

Name: Jung Ilhoon
Group:
 BtoB
Personality: Outwardly, Ilhoon presents a strong, charismatic image. He has boyish charms, including being able to do aegyo, and some find him unpredicatable and little wild. But in actuallity Ilhoon is a hardworking individual who wants to go above and beyond what he is. He is never angrier than at himself when he fails or messes up.
How they met: It was shortly after Mystique's debut. They knew about the other's existance, but they never really interacted a lot until after her debut. Cube was filming a BTS special where Ilhoon was the host of sorts. He was going around with a camera to meet everyone and in particular stopped to meet with Mystique. Unfortunately (or fortunately), only Dami was available to talk. He kept asking her questions and trying to get her to talk to him until finally his persistance paid off and she cracked a smile.

From then on, whenever they'd meet, they were friendly.

Interactions: While Dami is younger, Ilhoon often jokes that when he talks with her feels like he should be calling her, "Noona" since she carries herself with a maturity level beyond his. Despite their seemingly different personalities, they actually get along quite well. He respects her space, but at the same has no problems getting into it occasionally to maintain their close relationship.

On her side, Dami knows that Ilhoon, despite his childish aura at times, is actually quite mature and drive. She respects this, and together they have something of a kindred spirit.

They are often spotted together during shows whispering and being friendly, so fans have begun shipping the 'IlMi" couple. While Ilhoon may actually like her this way, Dami is enamoured with Dongwoon...though it's not set in stone.

OTHER

Suggestions: I didn't see a section here for friends, so I have this image that Dami is friends with Ilhoon and Sohyun, who treat her as a favorite hoobae. Otherwise, if not chosen as a maknae, I can adjust those parts of the app as needed.

I can also switch her talent twins if needed for a rapper role or dance related role as well!

Gahhh...she seems so boring. UGH.

Scene suggestions: The Maknae line of various Cube Ent. groups get together for a special stage or show.

Debut/Comeback song suggestions? Sonamoo - Cushion or Deja Vu, Rainbow - Black Swan, AOA - Confused

Suggested fan club name? For lack of creativity: Mystics or maybe Mystery?

Do you wish to be a side character if you're not chosen?
[Y/N]
