APPEARANCE. a round face with a uniquely-shaped nose and a big smile, jenny has always looked different from the rest of her classmates. she dyes her hair annually, kinda like a big ' you' to her absent father, and this time, it's a sort of brown and lavender that colors her short hair. she's also quite short for a girl her age and a bit underweight, a result of taking in too many part-time jobs. thankfully for her mother, she's only had her ears pierced and she doesn't have any other piercings on her body. but she does have a secret tattoo in the shape of a star that is found on her right side of the hip.
STYLE. cursed with the trait of being used to the heat in florida, jenny has a hard time adjusting to the harsh coldness of canada. she's always bundeled up in heavy winter coats and scarves and gloves, mostly because her mom forces her to wear them. but when there's heat inside the building, she sheds the coats and scarves and gloves to reveal the usual flannel and jeans combo she always wears. for her shoes, she wears snow boots and wool socks because, well, how do you expect to get through a blizzard with high heels on? when her mom's not around, she wears a jacket with wool inside to keep her warm and black gloves to keep her warm ( and also for the sake of fashion. ) she always packs her brother's old letterman jacket from his senior year, a souvenir from the old days, but she barely wears it.

PERSONALITY TRAITS. sarcastic, self-sufficient, realist.
DESCRIPTION. jenny, being the only daughter for her mother, has always been doing things for herself and her mother. she wouldn't call herself independent because, well, as you can see she's not a loner. she would always remind her mother that it was time for her monthly checkup to the doctor, she would always make food for herself and her mother, she wanted her mother to rely on her anytime she needed her. but sometimes, things don't go her own way. jenny doesn't care, the world's anyways. ever since her father practically moved out of her life when she was 4, she never did try to change things for the greater good. well, maybe once or twice did she try to see the world in a better light but the headlines about natural disasters and the news reports of the occasional robbery of homicide has always proven to her the world is ty and it's not getting any better. still, she puts on a smile for her mother. practically the only thing about jenny that makes her friendly is her sarcastic tone of humor. jenny's practically given up on everything except her mother so why not try to make some laughs out of that? plus, if she was in a movie, she'd get the best one-liners so that's a plus.
BACKGROUND. jenny just wanted a normal life in florida, that was it. but all she got was a deadbeat father and mother with anemia who, fortunately, got sick three months after she delivered jenny. oh and there's her brother too but he's not that important now that he ran away. as you can see, jenny can never really get the normal life that she yearned for. normal kids had a happy family, with a present father and a healthy mom and a brother who doesn't even think about running away.
so here's the deal: jenny wongsawat was born to a thai mother and a german/irish/polish ( aka white ) father and an older brother who's name was 'leon'. now, leon was the boy of your dreams. he was educated, charming, kind, and good-looking. basically the boy-next-door in romcom movies. he had like, what, 12 girlfriends in his whole life? you get the gist. anyways, jenny was practically the opposite of him. she stayed after school to work on her grades and could only get her grade up to a b minus ( aka a 'good enough' ), she didn't no anything about boys, she had a pretty rude attitude towards her other classmates, and she wasn't exactly a beauty. jenny was jealous of leon, who always got good grades and pretty girls around his finger. but she didn't do anything about it. no, jenny was loyal to her mother and she loved her with every beat of her heart. they looked like a happy family in the photos that hung in their hallways and stood in frames on their nightdrawers.
well, until the divorce. which jenny likes to call 'the worst period of my time. ever. it's worse than an actual period.' you see, jenny's father had anger issues. most of it came from the stress of his construction working job and some of it came from the anger he got when he looked at jenny's grades every quarter. every night, the siblings would be forced to stay up listening to their father's not-so-quiet rant about his children. and on those nights, jenny developed a severe feeling of hatred towards her. remember: jenny's dedicated to her mother, not her joke of a dad who didn't even let her go to the movies with her friends even though she got an a+ in pre-algebra. leon was always talking to jenny about running away and jenny didn't really believe him. until, that night.
one morning, jenny woke up to wake leon up for school. ( that's another thing she hates about him: he's always staying up really late and doesn't wake up to his alarm clock. ) he was gone. as in she looked through every single room in their apartment to find him vanished, vamooshed, gone. of course, her father was angry, mostly because he wished that jenny was the one to runaway. ( he didn't had to say it; jenny knew already. ) when her mother tried to calm him down, he slapped her across the face. that day, jenny tried even harder to get her grades up and prove to her father that he was wrong. that he was a big jerk for nothing. that he was just a fool who shouldn't have married her mom in the first place. two months later, her parents divorced. her mom got jenny in the deal and her father got the house. no one brought up leon though; he was no longer part of their family. jenny's mom took this opportunity to move up to canada, where they would live in the same neighborhood as her aunt did.
she made friends with julia first, mostly because of her friendly and angelic aura. jenny doesn't exactly remember how she began to be friends with julia in the first place but she did remember it had something to do with after school tutoring and talking about bad grades. jenny's best guess: they both had to stay after school and bonded over their bad grades. through julia, she met aiden. and the list goes on and on. jenny has to give some credit to julia. she wouldn't even be here if it weren't for her.
