Drabble 19

“Hyung, daebak!” Taemin exclaimed with stars in his eyes at he looked up at Jinki, “When did you get this?”

Jinki couldn’t help his proud smirk, “I got my motorcycle license last summer during our break, and I’ve had this baby since. I just parked it at my parents’ instead of our dorm carpark.”

Taemin continued examining the shiny bike; it gave off a cool and standoffish feel to it. One would never have guessed its owner would be SHINee’s dubu leader. The maknae was in complete awe, and almost flipped over in his excitement when Jinki offered him a ride through the city and back.

Jinki chuckled at the sparks that glittered in his favourite dongsaeng’s eyes - awfully adorable and unfitting for his age. He threw the younger a polished blood red helmet, “Get on, makdoongie.”

It was fun watching Taemin put on his helmet eagerly as if he was being crowned ‘Coolest Maknae on the Planet’. He was first apprehensive about getting on (and he didn’t really know how to ‘get on’). He tried to stride his leg over the seat, but apparently Jinki’s baby was too tall for him to straddle on, almost toppling Jinki and his bike. But the leader only looked into his rearview mirror with amusement, until he couldn’t stand it and guided him to stepping on the foot-peg. Because Taemin was so petite, his bum only fitted half his assigned space. Hold on, is that a disappointed Jinki?

“Yay!” Jinki cheered (Taemin swore his hyung was only mocking him), “Let’s head out. Trust me, Tae. I’m reeeeeally good at this.”

Taemin scoffed, but said nothing. The moment Jinki started the engine, he began questioning his choices. Well, he wasn't such a puss, but he figured it was probably his pumped-up adrenaline causing the rapid heartbeat. It was kind of thrilling, to say the least. For the first 10 minutes, Taemin didn’t release his death grip on Jinki’s shoulders. The wind blowing straight into his face through his mini window was exhilarating, though he still wouldn’t allow himself to relax and enjoy.

“You know, you could be kinder by wrapping your hands around my waist. Your love for my shoulders is starting to hurt.” Jinki joked, turning his head at an angle so the younger could hear him. To which Taemin immediately corrected by grabbing his helmet and twisting him to face the road in front. He was embarrassed though, and guessed he could loosen a little. Just a little, barely noticeable, but it was better than nothing.

It was as if Jinki knew what emotional distress he was making Taemin experience each time he made a sharp turn, tilting his bike at an acute angle to the ground. Despite the ache around his neck, he smirked hearing that little pip-squeak shriek and the grasp tighten. Of course, the dancer would die than admit his slight panic attacks. But the leader was adamant about changing that - he increased his speed and one time he charged through a red light. He could almost break out laughing if his precious treasure wasn’t riding with him.

“H-hyung,” Taemin coughed the jitters away, “You c-could go a little s-slower...I-I’m not s-scared, it’s j-just d-dangerous!”

Jinki paid no attention to the trivial request, knowing anyway he was not one to put his loved one in danger. It was then that Lee Jinki decided he could step up his game a notch, he was determined to get Taemin to wrap his arms around him, even if he had to be mean. He twisted his gears and increased his speed, satisfied with the small gasp behind his ears. Taemin saw the lights changing just ahead of them, but it seems Jinki wasn’t intending to stop.

“H-h-hyung!” Taemin alerted, stepping on his foot pegs on both sides of the bike.

Jinki abruptly jammed on his brakes, cooly anchoring his foot on the ground as soon as they stilled to support the motorcycle. Taemin virtually flew forward, thrown to nestle into Jinki’s back with his arms around the leader’s chest, clinging for dear life. It only took literally two seconds for Taemin to reopen his eyes to realize Jinki was doing it on purpose.

“HYUNG!” He was about to slap Jinki on his back when he heard the rumble of the engine again, he quickly wrapped his hands snuggly around the elder’s waist. He was convinced it was a lesson learnt, and he was definitely much safer this way. But maybe, he just wanted an excuse to hug his favourite hyung.

-sigh- the number of hyungs screamed out loud... Taemin-ah...you're only riding Jinki's bike.

And Lee Jinki, you sneaky bastard.
