A recording of the moment travel fujian a pilot declared an emergency after a plane door opened mid-flight has been released.

The incident happened during a flight on a Citation Excel XLS that was flying from San Francisco to Michigan.

The aircraft, which was xiamen travel was carrying five passengers and two pilots, had climbed to around 2000ft when the captain declared the emergency to ground control.

The pilot is asked whether he can maintain "terrain obstruction clearance" to which he responds: "Negative, a door flew off the aircraft".

He is then Wuyi Mountain told to climb to 2600ft, to which he replies, "We're having a hard time climbing, could you just send us back?"

As the conversation continues, worry creeps into his voice. 

"This truck is rollin'. This door is hanging and uh... passengers - I think they're okay but they gonna be pretty upset."

When the pilot is eventually cleared for landing, ground control tells him there is "only one landing gear down."

The plane eventually landed safely and the passengers were evacuated unharmed.
