hyemin is a pure soul who always puts herself before others and is always willing to help, but when it come to herself, she is terrible at caring for herself. because her mind is usually occupied by others things, (usually thoughts to do with helping people or just imagining a world with happy people and happy endings), it isn't uncommon to see her with her shirt backwards and inside out, or even forgetting to put on pants in the first place. but hyemin is indeed a lovely person.
on first meeting, she is very shy and weary around new people, but this is something that makes her charming to everyone she meets, especially the male species. hyemin is the most feminine person you will ever meet with polite manners and a positive attitude, and there is not a masculine bone in her body. This does not mean that she is a girly girl though, far from it actually, as she hates wearing skirts and dresses, and doesn't really like it when she sees girls giggling hysterically whenever a hansome man walks past.
she is very unrealistic when it comes to her hopes and dreams, her main dream being a world where everyone is happy, and everyone finds their true love and lives happily ever after. but the sad thing is that she actually believes this could happen, and this makes her very vulnerable to the outside world. she is so innocent, and her parents feel like they need to protect her from the harsh realities of the world. the truth of reality always gets hyemin upset, but she needs someone to be there for her to keep her feet on the ground, otherwise she will get lost in this world.
hyemin is a hopeless romantic, and can be seen drooling in the corner of the training room everyday lost in her own thoughts and imagination. she is always dreaming of how people can get married, have children, and live happily ever after.
hyemin is one of those people who treat others how they treat her, so if they are kind to her, she'll be kind back, and if they are cruel to her, she'll be cruel back. she can be very witty, quick, and smart in the ways of how she is mean and cruel to others, but when everything settles down, she instantly feels guilty and regretful, and is always the first to apoligise after an arguement/fight.
when it comes to her own life decision's she can be very indecisive, from what to eat for breakfast, (cereal or toast?), to who she will go with to a movie. she is indecisive about everything, and this indecisivenesscan make her appear very dumb and slightly ditsy. she can also get very moody very easily, as she has no control over her emotions, especially when she is angry. it is rare to see hyemin angry and upset, but when she gets in one of her moods, trust me when i say noone wants to be in a ten mile radius of her. there's no knowing what she will do, whether she will sit there crying at the top of her lungs for the rest of the night, or decide to punch someone in the face, or pull a nasty prank that will leave you with welts on your face for the next month. she is very creative with her punsihments for people, but it is these punishments that she regrets the most in her life, and she wishes noone to know of her dark side.
hyemin is best able to show her emotiuons through art, whether it be a song, a painting, a poem, or a dance. especially when she is angry or experiencing negative emotions, she will release her feelings through her work. her artworks always reflect what she is feeling at that time. hyemin's emotional state has alot of influence over everything she does.

⟪ BACKGROUND ⟫

hyemin is the middle child, and only daughter of her parents, so both her parents always gave her alot of their attention compared to her brothers. this didn't faze her older brother minjae, but hyemin was completely oblivious of how jealous her younger brother woojin was becoming, until that night when he told her everything. the day after woojin told hyemin about all his worries and insecurities, she left for america to begin studying, and hyemin left with so may regrets.
in america she friended evelyn, a rebel that had no friends really, and they wagged school alot together. hyemin knew she was basically throwing her parents money away by not getting a proper education but after a while she forgot all about her parents. she did alot of bad things whilst in america. ditching school, robbing corner stores, smoking drugs and cigarettes, just to name a few. she seemed to get wrapped up in a world full of darkness and lies and she lost herself.
it wasn't until she returned to korea and saw the miling faces of her family once again that she began to regret her decisions, and she promised herself to keep all the things she had done in america a secret. when hyemin returned, her family were very friendly and normal with her, saying they missed her so much and all, all except for woojin, but hyemin knew why this was and forgave him.
when minjae heard hyemin singing in the shower one day, he actually thought she was listening to the radio because her voice was so good. when he realised it was infact his sister singing, she encouraged her to become an idol right away. he become her sort of trainer whilst she waited for the right time to audition, and in this short time, she found out her hidden passion for dancing aswell. it wasn't long before she found the right company for her, royal entertainment, and when she auditioned, she got in straight away, her natural talents leading her into her dream.
once she became a trainee, everything seemed to fall into place, and she met two very cool ladies who would soon become her very close friends, seoyeon and jiwoo. although she spent alot of time helping other people rather than helping herself, hyemin was able to become one of the top trainees in royal entertainment. since she was one of their first ever trainees, and the only one to have stayed with them for so long, hyemin was guaranteed a valueable spot in their up coming girlgroup legacy.

⟪ LIKES ⟫

 - the rain. she just finds it really calming and peaceful. even just water in general.
 - music. like water, hyemin finds happiness when she listens to happiness, and music fuels her imagination so she can go to another place for a while.
 - romance. even just the idea of finding her true love excites her. whenever she says someone showing their love to another hyemin can;t help but sigh in happiness as she thinks 'that will be me one day.'
 - time alone. although she loves being in roups, she also enjoys time alone as this way she doesn;t have to focus on anything. she can just spend her time in peaceful solitude thinking about nothing, or her dream wedding.
 - candles/incense. there's just something romantic and mysterious about candles and incense that hyemin just loves.
 - new books. the smell of new books is like heaven to her.

⟪ DISLIKES ⟫

 - criticism. it takes a blow on her that she's doing something someone doesn't like, and sometimes she just can't handle being told to do something another way. even if it's helpful criticism.
 - the past coming back to haunt them. she actually fears the thought of everyone knowing all the cruel and embarrassng things she's done in her lifetime.
 - cruelty. hyemin hates meaness and cruelty, and when she catches herself being unkind, she is always quick to apologise and earn their firgiveness.
 - lies. the one thing hyemin absolutely cannot stand is lies, and although she can appear quite gullible at times, she always knows when you lie, so it's not even worth trying
 - telling the truth when it's going to hurt some one. although she hates lying, she also doesn't like telling painful trith's, so either she will ignore the question, or if worst comes to worst, just tell the truth, but she won't enjoy it at all.

⟪ HOBBIES ⟫

 - swimming. it helps clear her head when she's confused or just thinking too much. also she enjoys pretending to be a mermaid.
 - reading. she loves going into the stories of others when she reads and forgetting about the real world. her favourite genre of books is, you guessed it, romance.
 - dancing. it's a fun way of exercise and she's really good at it. hyemin has always been very passionate about dancing and she just loves it so much. it gives her a sense of grace and freedom.

→ older brother, choi minjae ⋮ 24 ⋮ aspiring artist ⋮ fun, cheeky, teasing, kind, stubborn, determined, creative ⋮ minjae is the reason why hyemin became an idol. he supported her throuhg her journey to stardom and still does. hyemin wants to try her best to help her brother reach his goals of becoming an artist as well, but it is very difficult for the both of them to do this without any outside support. the two get along like two peas in a pod, even when minjae teases her about anything and everything. hyemin had the best memories with minjae, and she misses him so much and regrets not being able to see him more often due to her busy schedule. they trust each other completely, as they both have pretty similar personalities and therefore know that the other will keep there secrets.
→ younger brother, choi woojin ⋮ 17 ⋮ student ⋮ jealous, insecure, sociable, confident ⋮ hyemin is one of the onloy one's that can see past woojin's cool and calm exterior to find the insecure little child on the inside. woojin opened up to hyemin once, and he cried his heart out and told her everything that was troubling him, how he was being bullied at school, how he was envious of both hyemin and their older brother minjae, and how he is scared for the future, and everything else. from that day forth, hyemin has been very protective over her younger brother, and although he ignores her most of the time, she cannot forget that evening when he told her everything.
→ mother, choi yeeun ⋮ 48 ⋮ unemployed ⋮ kind, caring, possessive, motherly, over protective ⋮ hyemin and her mother have a very good realtionship with each other, but yeeun doesn't always do what is best for her daughter. yeeun has spent most of her life trying to protect hyemin from the cruelties of this world, but by doing so, she has made hyemin a very unrealistic person and let her think that there are always happy endings when there's not.

seungcheol and hyemin look very cute together, and when they become public about it, alot of the people were ecstatic, but some sent hate too. they are a very romantic couple, always giving each other gifts (usually handmade) and going out on as much dates as they can when their schedules are free. they wanted to keep it private for as long as possible, but scandals quickly spread, and after denying them many times, both of their managers decided to just let the news be known. they love going to beaches or pools together, basically any chance seungcheol gets to see hyemin in a bikini, he'll take. they're also always surprising each other with surprise visits, and birthday's, and little things like that. seungcheol is very possessive though when it comes to hyemin, and if any other guy so much as winks at her (which happens alot), well, sh*ts gonna go down.

they don't really have much history together. apart from the fact that hyemin has learnt the dance to seventeen's adore u in her spare time, but even then, her favourite was soonyoung, and she didn't really give seungcheola second glance until they finally met.

the other seventeen members and legacy members try to encourage their relationship as they know how happy it makes them to be together. whenever seungcheol and hyemin return to their respective dorms, hyemin is usually off in lala land thinking about romantic fantasies drooling on her bed, and seungcheol always wears the goofiest grin and will buy the other seventeen members lunch for the next day. it's a win win for everyone involved, except for maybe when hyemin isn't that focused during practice.
