I guess it depends on your surroundings and home life. At my house a high school diploma means nothing. It's just the beginning. A college degree is what matters. But in a family/neighborhood that has a low graduation rate it's a big deal.
We have a 100 days till graduatiom countdown, celebrare it and after that we take the exams. Basically its not unimportant but not a big deal either. Most try to apply to an university but a lot of peiple just try to find a job or something. Lithuania is very pessimistic so people tend to take the easy way out because they fear failure. I'm sorry, that's probably unnecesary infornation haha
in the uk not so much you celebrate your last week but you don't have a graduation ceremony, we have prom as a way to celebrate. You tend to have a big graduation ceremony after completeing university as this is a much bigger achievement.
