if only her skin was white...

oh wow... I just read an article on koreaboo on yuri's bare and while all the comments were good this one comment just disgusts me.

the comment said: "if only her skin was white, whe would have been top of the industry. TTT_TTT"

click the link if you want to see it, I'm not making this up. just so you know I'm not dark skinned at all. I consider myself pale but not tiffany pale, maybe just the same as yuri's skin maybe a bit darker. I want to consider this comment as an "oh, korea..." moment but I don't want to generalize one country because of this one comment but seriously? seriously? I get it she's not pale as you would expect from a korean BUT BUT BUT... you know what skin color maybe the issue here but why would the commentor even equate her career to yuri's skin color??

I don't know if this is my PMS speaking just something I found utterly disgusting.

sadly, this is a rather common sentiment in my country, too. historically, if you were fairer, you were richer, so there's that connection still.

WHAT THE ACTUAL ?!?!?!?! As a Yuri fan, I am disgusted that her career would be demeaned in such a way. As a SONE, I am angry that someone would insult any of our girls. As a human being, I am appalled and disgusted that someone's skin colour ... and this is the stupid part, it isn't even her race (which would usually be factored into arguments about skin colour, and I find equally appalling) ... can be connected to someone's career success. I could not care less what her skin colour is, and the colour has absolutely no impact on how successful she can be. Seriously, when will this world stop making ones appearance the sole deciding factor in how successful you will be?
