OFFICIAL: Iker Casillas leaving Real Madrid after 25 years with the team

And I am so very distraught.

My heart is broken. He's changed his bio on twitter. And the minute Sergio says a damn thing, I am going to burst into tears and not recover for some time because I just know he's going to be the one player suffering the most from this. Even the pics on SNS with him on the plane to Australia...his smile seems dim. There's some comfort in the fact that his parents went the hell off on Florentino and the other people on the club board, as well as all his teammates' words of encouragement and thanks (and Beckham's thinly veiled jab at the club, u go D), but it's still all so sad.

Oh Iker. My precious cinnamon roll. What in the world is this team going to do without you?

Always and forever an RM legend. You've done so much for our team and for the club. Madridistas everywhere are so so sad to see you go. I've followed the club for some time now, not nearly as eagerly as I have been these past few years. I have spent many a weekend at friends' houses, watching you save goal after goal after goal. I witnessed your emotion as you led your national team to winning the 2010 World Cup. I watched you fall to your knees sobbing because your beloved team captured La Decima in 2014. I saw you give your best and then some even when some real tightwads whistled at you from all directions in the stadium. You carried us, Iker. You made mistakes, but as a human you are prone to do so, and I am so sad and disappointed that the club cast you out after serving it for 25 freaking years. Perez is a fool. The board is full of morons. I am just in disbelief, and I think I will be for some time.

Despite not being a supporter of Porto, I'm going to be a supporter of you ALWAYS. What you've done for us, I can and will never forget. I'm going to hold onto all the time you had with Real Madrid fondly in my heart. Things won't be the same without you as captain and starting goalkeeper, but as long as you are happy playing the sport you love, I know that's what matters here.

Gracias, capi. For everything. #GraciasIker
